It's really simple to use, it has a nice interface and it has a data laboratory tab that lets you manipulate data, also it has a plugins tab that adds many other tools such as "Network Splitter 3D" Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Gephi? The only thing I didn't like about it is that it forces you to install Java, but if you're a regular Java user then you'll not have any other troubles with Gephi. I've been using it as a learning tool for one of my classes in data science, recommended by the professor. And I think it is one of the best tools out there for graph visualization. I love how I can do a social media analysis easily by importing the dataset I obtain from the Twitter API. It allows me different ways of presenting the network graphs easily and to focus on what I need, i.e. Eigenvector Centrality, Betweenness Centrality or any other setting I require. Sometimes it requires more RAM to be able to render the image or it doesn't let me import certain files. Upgrading the software or adding plugins can make it glitchy. I am able to find out who the prominent people are in a certain social media network. It makes it easy to get insights and develop an analysis based on the nodes with the most connections. Gephi is an open source network visualization tool that can be installed on a desktop. It is extremely simple to use requires almost no coding to perform important tasks. The ability to calculate important variables and community models as well as instantly visualize them within seconds is unparalleled. The software is free which is a huge plus and the website has really good tutorials on how to use the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Gephi? I had to install Java separately to get Gephi to work correctly. My recommendation is that as Gephi is being installed, the user should be prompted to install Java first before the Gephi installation can go through. Recommendations to others considering Gephi: My recommendation is that as Gephi is being installed, the user should be prompted to install Java first before the Gephi installation can go through. Also, it would be great if a possible Gephi library can be accessed using Jupyter Notebook as I can perform other non-visualization tasks on Jupyter Notebook and quickly carry it over to Gephi without having to write a file. I had a data set with similar movie pairs that I was able to extract from an API then I exported the file to a csv and imported into Gephi. Gephi is an amazing visualization tool. It is user friendly and the GUI is very self explanatory . It is the best tool for network analysis. It allows us to easily apply various filters on the network graph to make the graph more readable. We can calculate many statistical parameters such average degree, clustering coefficient, network diameter, modularity etc. We can then change the size and color of nodes according to the parameters for analyzing the network. It also allows us to save all graphs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Gephi? The layout algorithms when run on large networks, can really load your processor. It also has high battery usage. The worst drawback is that you cannot undo a change done to your network in gephi. If you did an unwanted change, you have to start over again. Recommendations to others considering Gephi: I recommend using Gephi for visualization because of the various features it has to offer and the user friendly interface. Some purposes are to detect communities in the network, checking network robustness, identifying the giant components etc. Gephi makes the analysis very handy and simple. Gephi is great in terms of easily generating and manipulating social network visualizations. The UI is easy-to-use. There is a learning curve - but not too steep. It helps you do basic descriptive analysis, but for any other statistical or network analysis measures, you will need a different software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is Gephi solving and how is that benefiting you? Social network analysis is basically incomplete with visualization. Gephi is by far the easiest visualization manipulation software. You can also use the same dataset to create multiple visualizations. The add-on packages help you put more details into to the visualizations including geographic locations and world map.
