Simplicity in manipulating and editing models is one feature i like about it and also how am able to view borehole path when i import all drilling orientations data its just a great partner in mining field. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The tool may appear confusing and most people i know would say that because of its confusion many people will wright it off bt it has tutorials which are so helpfull. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Surpac is pretty good at making surfaces automatically without having to give it guidance. Even if the surface isn't perfect, you can often still use it for volume reports. It's also reasonable for block model stuff Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The CAD/drafting in surpac is below average. And ctrl z shortcut doesn't work. And most of the shortcuts are too long Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As with any very comprehensive piece of software the vast array of features is overwhelming and most users will only use a small portion. I attended a week's training course on how Surpac could be used on our mineral exploration projects.

First and foremost, any GIS and modelling software is only as good as the data it uses. Surpac has a very efficient filer system that fires out / blocks invalid data entries. Whilst initial imports can take a while, once the data is up to scratch importing stand alone data sets is very easy. The other option is to link the software directly to a MS access database (or similar). Whilst this takes time to "map" the database and link each table and field to each corresponding parameter in the software, once done Surpac will automatically read the database upon opening of the software.

Secondly, importing digital terrain models and profile data is relatively quick and easy enough. One can then "snap" borehole collars to the profile to ensure as accurate modelling as possible.

The ability to draw, amend and edit models is simple enough and does not take a long time to learn how to do. There are very comprehensive online tutorials available.

Importing of drilling orientation data enables one to view the path of the borehole as opposed to an imagined (and highly innacurate) straight line. Again, Surpac can read this from the database once mapped instead of importing the dataset each time the software is opened. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Simply put there is not a lot to dislike about Surpac. It has clearly been designed from the outset with the user in mind and that shows throughout the whole interface. I am competent in a small number of its features, a list of which can be very overwhelming. Its main competitor, Datamine, is a much more confusing piece of software.
