"2D Bridge Hydraulics Modeling in GeoHECRAS"
4.5/5
What do you like best about GeoHECRAS?

GeoHECRAS significantly streamlines the modeling workflow by reducing the time needed to prepare terrain and cross-sectional data. Clean interface make it much faster to move from raw data to a complete hydraulic model, especially for large or complex projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GeoHECRAS?

Improved interoperability with other GIS and modeling tools, along with more export/import options, could further enhance workflow flexibility for multidisciplinary projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"User Friendly Interface for HEC-RAS"
4.5/5
What do you like best about GeoHECRAS?

GeoHECRAS allows one to use HEC-RAS in an interface that functions much more intuitively than the standard HEC-RAS. In performing project reviews, it presents me with a much clearer picture for looking at the bones of the model and rapidly checking different components for potential errors. As a designer it is much easier to overlay my entire project and manipulate variables as needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GeoHECRAS?

At times when exporting a GeoHECRAS file to a user outside of the office, there can be some manipulations at least in visual representations of geometry if they are opening the file in HEC-RAS. This typically is most present in roadways. While the data associated with the cross-sections is correct, they will visually not carry over properly and may result in errors if the cross-section geometry is repulled. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"GeoHECRAS Review"
4/5
What do you like best about GeoHECRAS?

We've been using GeoHECRAS for a recent hydraulic modeling efforts involving bridge replacement projects. The user interface is intuitive and visually driven, making it easy to build and edit the model. The ability to automatically generate cross sections and quickly adjust geometry in a CAD-like environment saved a lot of time. The wide variety of outputs, such as animations, profile plots, and map views, were especially helpful for visualizing flow patterns. Overall, GeoHECRAS provided a smoother and more efficient modeling experience! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GeoHECRAS?

A few enhancements would further improve the user experience. It would be helpful to have the ability to sort and filter output tables within the profile line plot data tables, and to view stationing in feet on the map view along the profile lines. We would also like to see expanded CAD-like capabilities, such as tools to easily offset polylines by a specific distance. Additionally, when troubleshooting model errors, even though cell IDs were shown in the computation logs, it was still challenging to identify which cells in the 2D flow area were causing problems with so many cell on the map view. A feature that allows users to quickly search for a specific cell and highlight it on the map would significantly be helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent software for floodplain studies and GIS data visualization"
5/5
What do you like best about GeoHECRAS?

What I find the most useful about GeoHECRAS in comparison with basic HEC-RAS is that I can complete floodplain studies without additional CAD support and without needing to be an expert in GIS data manipulation. The program also lets you view and process numerous CAD and GIS file formats without purchasing separate software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GeoHECRAS?

There is a bit of a learning curve because the program has so many capabilities, but the support staff is most helpful in helping master the program. Perhaps a slight improvement is needed in working with metric units and preparing graphical output. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful tool for water resources projects related to irrigation and river restoration"
4.5/5
What do you like best about GeoHECRAS?

GeoHECRAS has been helpful in modeling flood elevations and demonstrating FEMA floodplain no-rise conditions. I also utilize the velocity and shear stress mapping with velocity vectors to demonstrate to project stakeholders where restoration treatments would be most needed and effective to protect against the erosional forces of rivers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GeoHECRAS?

In my experience, whenever you make a change to a terrain, you need to rename that terrain otherwise you will get an error when you run the model. This is not a major issue but can be inconvenient and is not intuitive to know that you need to re-save the terrain file with a new name. I wish that it would simply overwrite the existing terrain file. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"GeoHECRAS is my go-to modeling software for hydraulic analysis"
5/5
What do you like best about GeoHECRAS?

The "all-in-one" aspect of GeoHECRAS is perfect for my one-person company. I don't need to buy a multitude of software to get aerial photos, topography, drainage areas, etc. in order to create a model. The Company support is very knowledgeable and helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Quick, Reliable, and Smart"
5/5
What do you like best about GeoHECRAS?

GeoHECRAS combines the best of three different worlds - LiDar/ DEM processing, HEC RAS, and CAD. It simplifies and combines all three forces into one to make the hydrological analysis seamless for day-to-day use. GeoHECRAS, combined with superior customer support, makes every project come out as a success. The output byproducts also integrate well with other standalone software you might have, which you wish to use for further/ different analysis. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GeoHECRAS?

As the software is brand new to the industry comparatively, there are still things that need to be figured out on the software engineering site, but the CivilGeo team is quick to get a resolution or push out an update with a fix. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"GeoHECRAS has made it easier and faster to create HEC-RAS models"
4.5/5
What do you like best about GeoHECRAS?

GeoHECRAS makes it easier to do some tasks which has resulted in significant increases in productivity as well as it's ability to create nice exhibits for presentations and reports. The variable size mesh size helps speed up model runs by only having a tight mesh where needed.

It is more user friendly than HEC-RAS where you have to jump around between tools such as Ras Mapper and the geometric data editor. It has been easy for me to teach engineer interns how to work on models using GeoHECRAS.

It simplifies the creation of a model by easily adding georeferenced soil data, land cover data, NLCD land roughness, etc...which can be edited if needed. It also includes the ability to add aerial, hybrid, or street backgrounds to make it easy to draw aerials accurately within the model.

Editing topography is easier in GeoHECRAS than Ras Mapper. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GeoHECRAS?

GeoHECRAS is usually a little behind HEC-RAS releases in the supported version. This is understandable and usually not an issue for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
