For me, GeoHECRAS mainly makes HEC-RAS more user-friendly. This is chiefly done by making data entry more intuitive with the "Assign Entities" tool series. Basically, the workflow is you build a georeferenced model (DEM, cross-sections, structures, etc.), take a picture of it (distances, slopes, etc. are calculated automatically), and feed that into HEC-RAS. The HEC-RAS engine runs more slowly on GeoHECRAS. This isn't a problem with relatively simple 1D models. For more complex, unsteady flow models, run times can increase dramatically compared to standard HEC-RAS. GeoHECRAS is easier and quicker to use than HEC-RAS. It does use the HEC-RAS engine which makes it very useful when submitting project to clients who use HEC-RAS. GeoHECRAS also has a neat UI that makes it very easy to navigate though. I use GecHECRAS for all my small projects all the time. Moreover, I can use GeoHECRAS to export and import project and other file from different sources. GeoHECRAS has a few key features that make a stream modeling workflow more efficient. To start, they have round-the-clock support for designers using the software. This is guaranteed in the deal. The only problem I've had with GeoHECRAS is the processing power it takes to load a model. Some of our projects are so large that the takes almost 10 minutes to display and allow the designer to work in the file.
