Quick and easy to set up large flood models, with straightforward rain-on-grid analysis and plenty of options for different rainfall event types. The mapping is also excellent, with clear time-series flood displays that make results easy to interpret. Brilliant customer support and constant updates to the software to keep improving things. When working with large terrain surfaces, elevation adjustments can be slow and often require creating multiple copies of the surface for each change. The flood mapping also can’t filter out shallow nuisance flooding, as there’s no option to set a minimum display depth. Culvert modelling can be fiddly as well, with weir elevations not always matching the underlying cell elevations, leading to extra manual input. The user interface for GeoHECRAS is much friendlier to the average user than the base HEC-RAS program. The integration they have with many agencies such as NRCS and Web Soil Service creates a one stop shop for my modeling needs. Overall, it makes my modeling much quicker, easier, and efficient. GeoHECRAS is an interface that allows you to combine GIS, CAD, and HEC-RAS into one product. I like that I am able to use one program as opposed to three to do my job. I have used GeoHECRAS for many projects and it has provided outcomes and results that I can pass on to clients.The online support using the software has been very beneficial to complete projects successfully. Determining the exact amount of river reach cross-sections to provide the best results and the distance that the river reach needs to be is not the most clear. I use GeoHECRAS mainly for generating good contours for design and survey projects. I am able to combine flown topo from a variety of sources, along with topographical survey to generate smooth contours. GeoHECRAS is capable of handling a significant amount of data and screen it down to a manageable size for other programs. The ease of use and customer support has been excellent.
