Describe the project or task the provider helped with:

I utilized Gengo's services while working at an advertising agency for a client project. The project was a campaign implemented in over 10 different Southeast Asian countries, therefore requiring multiple languages. Specifically, the content requested for translations was regarding a webpage explaining the rules for a contest that was a part of the campaign. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The pricing. Because of Gengo's business model, which utilizes freelance individuals (stay-at-home moms and dads, part time workers, university students, etc.) who are capable enough in both languages required, the pricing is accordingly cheaper than utilizing a traditional professional translation agency. Related to this, the content can literally be 1 paragraph, if that's all that's required.

Of course, this means that you can't expect the high quality of a professional translation agency - so it must be used for appropriate purposes (where quick speed, low cost are required relative to the volume needed). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

It's not so much a dislike, as it's expected, however, the lower cost and "peer-to-peer" type service does mean you do have to be aware of reviewing the translated content a bit more yourself, and may not be able to rely on the services if the translation has business critical impacts. Basically, it may take a bit more of your time to manage quality, review things, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the provider:

Getting satisfaction out of Gengo relies heavily on understanding what types of translations are suited for this system, and which are not. For non-business critical content in high (or low, for that matter) volumes, that need to be on a low budget, this is a great option. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Describe the project or task the provider helped with:

Our team was seeking to create advertisement materials for a global scale. Gengo's translations have made it easy to have high quality translations for a relatively inexpensive cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Gengo's translators are very speedy in the amount of time that it takes to produce a translation. Our sales rep and their team are also very responsive to any corrections/adjustments needed (and tend to produce results quicker than the initial expected time). The service is very cost-efficient. I also like how we can select what level of translation and what type of materials we are looking to translate - this allows a subject expert and a proofreader to ensure a high quality translation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The file types they accept are limited. Also, some of the translations don't fully embody what we are asking for, however, the team does a very good job of working with us to ensure that both meanings align. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the provider? What benefits have you realized?

Our materials are being applied on a larger world scale. We can interact with and reach more people. The translating team is very knowledgable in their specific languages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Describe the project or task the provider helped with:

We use Gengo to translate text on our social ads and landing pages to provide a better and more cohesive experience for our users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

I like that you are allowed to request edits to the translations provided. For example, if they provide you with a translation for a word that doesn't make sense for your business, you can request as many edits as you want until you're happy with the results. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

This isn't too much of a downside as they are usually pretty fast for the turn around time, but the estimated time is 7 hours per translation. Often it is a lot quicker (usually within an hour or two), but this sometimes causes issues with planning. But like I said, they're generally pretty quick. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Describe the project or task the provider helped with:

We realized that we had a sizable chunk of users in other countries and wanted to test targeting by languages. Our marketing copy is pretty short and sweet, so most traditional translation services/tools were too complicated for us, and Google Translate isn't reliable. We're able to translate short copy pretty quickly for a very affordable rate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Gengo has pretty great turnaround time and accurate estimates for time and cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The user interface for asking questions and submitting corrections isn't the best. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the provider? What benefits have you realized?

My team is able to translate our marketing copy very quickly at a competitive rate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
