Genea mobile access control app experience as admin **Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** jimmie h. | House Mother, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2025 **What do you like best about Genea Security?** I like the ability to control the mobile access from start to finish sitting at my computer **What do you dislike about Genea Security?** The software design is not user friendly when setting up holidays, I always make mistakes and have to contact support to fix my issues. I wish I could understand it better in order to do it myself. **What problems is Genea Security solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Genea software to control access to our house. The mobile access software they supply is a good program and in many ways user friendly. I am able to use it fast and efficiently except when we have to set up holidays off time and close down the house, that is not easy to do, I always have to contact customer support/ai to make sure it's set up correctly. **Official Response from Melissa Hudlow:** > Hi Jimmie, Thank you for your feedback! From basic operating to full on in depth programming, it's all possible within one platform. Genea offers a great variety of hardware components to implement, so as an installer, you are not stuck with just one supplier. **What do you dislike about Genea Security?** There are some things that can only be achieved outside of the platform, I would love to see these functions also implemented in an optional advanced mode. However, the Genea customer support is always available to help out and replies swiftly. I also miss the option to just print a hardware overview showing all connected hardware, like panels, doors, readers, inputs and outputs. Currently this has to be done for each category separately. **What problems is Genea Security solving and how is that benefiting you?** Integrating hardware flawlessly into a cloud solutions accessible from everywhere in the world. This means, if the customer is having issues with their system, we can first check their system for a more in depth view of what is going on before visiting the customers site. I am a local admin, so for my purposes of adding/removing people, it has been a short learning curve. I appreciate that I can log in to it from anywhere to address urgent needs that come up too. Its easy to suspend a card if needed. I appreciate the process to add templated badge layouts and being able to have multiple versions; this is not something we had before, and it helps. I like the idea of integration with our IT systems, but we aren't there yet as an organization to have that implemented. **What do you dislike about Genea Security?** There is not "add a new user" on the homepage/dashboard. When I first log in, that is the page it takes me to, and I have to click a couple of times before getting to add a new user. This is a frequent task I complete, and this on the homepage would be convenient. Obviously, not the end of the world either. **What problems is Genea Security solving and how is that benefiting you?** It was a problem that we couldn't manage the system from anywhere. Genea allows us to manage access quickly and easily.
