Initially, we were looking for a tool to make a simple Gantt chart for a job proposal for a client, we had thought of using a well-known commercial application, but one of the colleagues found this alternative, he was a fan of Java and He showed us that this program carried out in that language perfectly fulfilled the simple task that we needed without having to cover the license costs and allowing to reduce the cost of the proposal a bit more. **What do you dislike about GanttProject?** Well, the worst limitation that this program has is that it only makes a Gantt chart ... in the beginning it is what is proposed and it does it well, but it lacks integration to attach documents and leaves out the possibilities that analysis of situations or risks in the development of the project. It complies with what is said of doing only one thing, but doing it very well, it is a pity that it is not extended to be able to integrate better with other options. **Recommendations to others considering GanttProject:** Undoubtedly I would recommend it, it is a very good program, simple to use, practical and suitable for the job for which it was created. **What problems is GanttProject solving and how is that benefiting you?** If it is only a representation of the flow of tasks and time that is required for a project or work to be done, peru is one of the best solutions in terms of its cost-benefit relationship. GanttProject can be an alternative to generate a project immediately and still opt for a web application that quickly organizes what you expect. **What do you dislike about GanttProject?** I do not like its interface, it can be tedious to generate a project because you get lost in the requirements that it demands to project your activities, it can be something grotesque your area of ​​work that does not inspire you to keep a stay in it. **Recommendations to others considering GanttProject:** If your plan is to use a minimalist project manager with something simple in its functions, you can choose to give it a try, but my recommendation is that there are many applications a thousand times better than GanttProject, I lost some of my time using it that I really prefer spend this bad time thinking that I never used it. **What problems is GanttProject solving and how is that benefiting you?** Mainly I used it because a colleague had recommended it to me and I was excited to see that there was a desktop application that could have some development when creating my diagrams, but for that I prefer to go to a Microsoft product, such as Project. However, I managed to give it an opportunity and download it in its free option, but once installed, I really did not like it at all, I tried to create my projects and organize them for better control but I can not satisfy myself. ### 5. It is a powerful tool because it offers all you need to control activities, resources and deliverables. It has a simple interface, use a few computer resources and it's free of charge for any purpose. It offers good resources to work with external people, sharing the project plan in the network, and importing/exporting content (as possible) to traditional commercial products. **What do you dislike about GanttProject?** Collaboration resources are still weak and are in need of improvement. It is not ready for new agile initiatives reducing the scope of its use. **What problems is GanttProject solving and how is that benefiting you?** Corporate users are always asking for a project management software license only to open a project plan, look for an appointment or a resource allocation, and print it. The Project Managers should change their mind and focus in collaboration and team performance rather than complex and high featured tools that most of the time are not fully used. My suggestion is: Have a tool that allows me to organize my projects in a visual way, easier to present to clients or users outside the area, with which they can better understand the times each task takes. **Recommendations to others considering GanttProject:** First all is a free tool besides other apps like this that are for pay, it brings the tools that you need for a project like create task, add milestones, work peer to peer, export your to many formats like PDF and JPEG, and so many other things. The interphase is basic, is not beautiful or friendly, is do it just for work, not for presentation or anything else, also the app does not bring the possibility to add values to the activities and that is a big lack. Overall: A great free tool for projects. **What problems is GanttProject solving and how is that benefiting you?** This very complete application for project management, has one of the most familiar diagrams in the computer world, focused on seeing the duration times of each task and which task precedes another, excellent for organizing projects and always having the application without depending on a connection, is open source and free. ### 9.
