Gaggle not only effectively flags student work or correspondence that could be dangerous, it also uses various modes of communication to make sure we get the message. Depending on the severity of situations, I have gotten emails, texts, and phone calls to make sure that any student identified as being immediately at risk gets the support that he/she needs. The only downside of Gaggle is having many classroom assignments in which students discuss traumatic things that have happened in their lives get flagged by the system. I don't receive too many false alarms from Gaggle (unlike a similar product we also utilize). Generally, when I receive a Gaggle it is something that needs my immediate attention. When students provide information triggering the need for a threat assessment, a suicide risk assessment, or the need for a potential child abuse report, Gaggle provides clear direct information about the level of follow up and response needed.
