## About FusionAuth
FusionAuth is a customer identity and access management (CIAM) platform specifically engineered to address the challenges of security, scalability, and developer efficiency. This solution is designed for organizations seeking to enhance their identity management processes while ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory standards such as GDPR and SOC2. By offering a flexible deployment model, FusionAuth allows users to maintain control over their data residency, whether in the cloud, on-premises, or in hybrid environments. Targeted towards developers and organizations that require robust identity solutions, FusionAuth is particularly beneficial for businesses experiencing rapid growth or those that need to streamline their authentication processes. Its API-first architecture enables organizations to embed identity management directly into their existing workflows, reducing the operational burden associated with traditional identity providers. This capability is especially valuable for companies that wish to eliminate the complexities and costs associated with maintaining homegrown authentication systems. Key features of FusionAuth include its flexible deployment options, which empower organizations to choose how and where they host their identity management solution. This flexibility is complemented by an API-driven architecture, where every feature is accessible through APIs, allowing for seamless integration and management of identity as part of the overall infrastructure. This approach not only enhances developer velocity but also ensures that organizations can adapt their identity solutions to meet evolving business needs without being locked into a single vendor's cloud. Additionally, FusionAuth offers predictable pricing models that help organizations avoid unexpected costs commonly associated with monthly active user (MAU) surges. This transparency in pricing is a significant advantage for businesses looking to scale without incurring excessive expenses. The platform has demonstrated its effectiveness across various industries, with notable success stories highlighting its ability to handle massive traffic surges, reduce operational bottlenecks, and lower engineering burdens. For instance, Bilt leveraged FusionAuth to manage high traffic volumes while ensuring compliance with data residency requirements. ## FusionAuth Reviews
 ### 1. FusionAuth manages passwords securely with ease

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeffrey E. | Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2026

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

Honestly I think the biggest benefit is that I don’t have to remember a million different passwords anymore and since we use it for work and it handles everything from generates strong passwords whenever I want one and stores them automatically and populates passwords when I log in somewhere. The password sharing feature has been especially convenient because our whole team needs to get into some accounts and before we would just send them over slack which likely isn’t ideal.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

They had me make a master password which made sense but then they wanted me to make another password as well? And I wasn’t entirely sure if these two passwords were supposed to be the same or if they should be different as the wording of that section wasn’t very clear. And sometimes it even comes up randomly on forms fields that don’t require it, and I have to navigate past it to complete things normally.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a small team and everyone had kept their passwords in notebooks or reused the same ones all over the place which obviously was not secure. FusionAuth solved that problem for us by providing an easy-to-use solution for our entire team to safely share login credentials without sending them via chat or email.

 ### 2. A solid identity platform that just works for our apps

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ethan B. | Technical Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2026

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

I like how easy it was to get FusionAuth up and running and having a full login and user management system in place. The documentation was clear and helpful and I could plug it into our web app with little fuss. The dashboard is simple and gives me quick access to users roles and settings without having to dive into the database manually. I also appreciate the support for multiple authentication methods so our users can sign in in ways that fit them.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

The theme customization felt limited and took extra time to bend it to look like our brand. Some of the more advanced workflows were not intuitive and I had to piece them together by trial and error.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FusionAuth took the pain out of building our own user identity system. Before we were juggling custom code for login sign up password resets and session handling. Now all of that is handled properly and securely which has freed our team to work on our core product. We were also able to add two factor authentication quickly which gave our customers more confidence in our security.

 ### 3. FusionAuth: A flexible identity platform that simply works well and is reliable.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

What I like most about FusionAuth is its flexibility. It’s really intuitive to set up. I’m not a full-time developer, but I’m pretty sure I can configure logins, SSO, and integrations in a much easier way without spending days reading documentation. Fine-grained customization allowed me to form the login experience around my company’s brand perfectly, a process that other avenues made extremely cumbersome. It feels like the control is with me and not that I require external consultants.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

The main drawback is the learning curve once you want to go beyond the basics. Some of the more advanced workflows, such as complex triggers or esoteric identity provider integrations, take a bit of trial and error. Also, while being more approachably priced than Auth0, the add-ons can add up if you’re not careful.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Earlier, we were trying to patch homegrown login systems together with each other as well as with third-party solutions that didn’t speak to each other. This was creating these huge security holes as well as friction for the user. Every one of our sales, support, and engineering teams use the same platform to authenticate and track their interactions.

 ### 4. FusionAuth is My Favorite Authentication Provider for My Apps.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike P. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

FusionAuth suited my needs as the authentication system for a number of web applications I use and I particularly like the ease with which I can control different methods of logging in - email/password, social logins, and even magic links. The self-hosted option is particularly appealing because the APIs are simple, and control over the data is guaranteed. I have the freedom of self-hosting without the worry of being stuck in a rigid setup.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

The admin UI could use some work. It is quite frustrating going through many menus for what should be simple adjustments. It takes a lot longer than it should to set some advanced features like a tenant-specific role or a webhook. Other useful features are paid and can be expensive for smaller projects.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FusionAuth saves me countless hours on building authentication systems from scratch, which is a significant portion of time wasting effort. It automates user account consolidation, password management, complicated login processes, user sign up and sign in, and user centralization. With authentication systems no longer being an issue, I can dedicate my time on the actual product.

 ### 5. Top-Notch Identity Provider, Top-Notch Support, Minimal Cost

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Troy S. | Lead Platform Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

Have been using FusionAuth as our primary identity provider for a few years now. It's been fantastic. Their documentation is professionally written and well organized - that along with their "Ask AI" feature has made it possible to accomplish some sophisticated configurations to meet our customer needs without having to reach out needlessly for support. Speaking of support... they are very friendly and quick to respond to messages. Various installation methods (managed or self-hosted) and different plan tiers make it quite flexible for various product needs. The starter plan is very generous and compared to other offerings on the market the cost is minimal. Overall I'm very pleased with selecting FusionAuth as our identity provider.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

Minor gripe, but I would find it helpful to be able to generate more advanced reports on users, usage, sessions, etc from the dashboard directly. Some of the reports I've had to generate in the past were easier to generate by using their API, then writing a quick script to roll-up results. Otherwise, not much to "dislike" about the service - it's frankly been one of the easiest to incorporate into our stack. Very pleased with our decision.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed an affordable way to implement multi-tenancy in a B2B scenario, are were particularly interested in the "Identity Provider" support so we could offer customized SSO for each tenant individually. Achieving this with competitors would be possible, but at significant cost. The primary benefit to FusionAuth for our team has been the ability to fully isolate tenants and configure them to meet varying customer needs. Furthermore, their API has made it possible to automate much of the provisioning and deprovisioning of tenants, users, and other bits of configuration.

 ### 6. Flexible and Reliable Authentication Solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Катя . | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2026

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

I like FusionAuth because it is flexible and developer-friendly, allowing full control over authentication and user data. It saves me time, makes integration smooth, and lets me customize authentication the way my application needs without fighting the system. It's also reliable and handles login, registration, and roles seamlessly. Plus, the initial setup was relatively straightforward with clear documentation.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

Some parts of the documentation and advanced configuration can feel overwhelming at first, and simplifying the onboarding experience would make it even better

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FusionAuth handles login, registration, password resets, roles, and API security, freeing me from building authentication from scratch and letting me focus on product features.

 ### 7. Easy Integration and Self-Hosting Flexibility with FusionAuth

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Olivier JM M. | Software Engineer

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

I use FusionAuth for authentication in my react app, and it has been incredibly beneficial. I don't need to create my own authentication system from scratch, which saves me a lot of time and effort. It handles security issues effectively, so I don't have to worry about the complexities and potential vulnerabilities of rolling my own authentication system. I also love that I can add multiple providers simultaneously without dealing with each one separately, which greatly streamlines integration and management. FusionAuth offers good pricing, which is an attractive aspect for me. Its easy integration process ensures that I can incorporate it into my projects without unnecessary hassle. One of the standout features is that FusionAuth can be self-hosted, which is a significant advantage compared to other alternative solutions, allowing for more control over the deployment. Additionally, the initial setup was straightforward due to the very clear documentation, and the community support has been quite helpful, providing valuable assistance when needed.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

I don't like the lack of clear pricing with FusionAuth. It's not easy to tell at a glance, and I wish this could be made clear.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use FusionAuth to avoid building an auth system, handle security, integrate multiple providers easily, and self-host. It's cost-effective and integrates swiftly into my React app with supportive community and documentation.

 ### 8. Identity Management That Fits Your Business and Works for Developers.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adrian B. | Business Development Executive, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

The flexibility and developer-friendliness are my favorite things about FusionAuth. It can be a real challenge to configure multi-step authentication processes when you’re not a full-stack security engineer; however, it is enough to get it done in a few simple tweaks due to the existing functionality and lucid documentation. I hardly ever need anything that’s not already onboard, but if I do, the API is robust enough to not struggle to hammer it into other systems.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

Indeed, the depth of the system might be overwhelming for a novice, and it will take some time to get accustomed to the functionality before all settings are configured properly. Comparing it with Auth0 or Okta, it is reasonably priced, though some advanced enterprise features may feel expensive for a micro-enterprise. More so, file limits concerning logs, and event data may also prove a limitation in case you would want to archive an extensive history.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FusionAuth centralized identity and access management so there are no more scattered authentication systems for different applications. We’ve reduced our risks by using fine-grained role and permission settings and the integration of our external systems means less time building one-off login solutions. Provisioning real-time insights into user activity enhances accountability while avoiding repetitive provisioning tasks for my team due to the automation of most workflows by this system.

 ### 9. A Huge Time-Saver That Let Us Ditch Our Legacy Auth Stack for Good

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shakir V. | Chief Financial Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

What I love most about FusionAuth is that it let us centralize our authentication and user management without having to build everything ourselves. We had dozens of apps with fragmented login flows, and FusionAuth helped us unify them under a single, secure system. The React SDK and robust API support made integration surprisingly smooth—even with some of our older applications.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

The hosted UI felt limiting at times—we had some very specific customization needs that were hard to implement using their pre-built components. Also, while the docs are good overall, searching for advanced implementation details (like how IDs behave in multi-tenant setups) can be frustrating. It’s not as intuitive for smaller teams or startups that are just getting familiar with complex IAM concepts.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We’re a small team, and just couldn’t afford to spend months building features like MFA, SSO, or role-based access—FusionAuth gave us all that out of the box. And compared to when we were evaluating Okta, FusionAuth felt more developer-friendly and less expensive to scale with, especially for a startup like ours.

 ### 10. Good Product, Horrible Customer Treatment

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

We have complex needs in that we’re a multi-sided, multi-tenant enterprise SaaS platform and need to support customer specific identity providers for SSO. We also require end-to-end authentication across different applications, microservices, and APIs. FusionAuth’s flexible multi-tenant architecture and first-class developer experience enabled us to unify all of this in short order, and made it simpler than others (at the time) to do so.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

Their commercial practices are horrible. For many years we were a "no maintenance" customer, never needing to leverage their support or complain in any way. At the request of their CEO we let them do a press release about our selection of them. We served as a sales reference too, even speaking with prospects, at least one of which became a customer spending more than double what we did.

Last year, out of the blue, FusionAuth dropped a more than 2x price increase coupled with an annual commitment under the guise of dropping high availability hosting from the plan we were on. We didn't need any of the features in the new tier, either.

Their account executive hounded us relentlessly via email and voice mail, all the while ignoring our request for specifics as to how a downgrade would be handled if we did not proceed. Ironically, their VP of sales would email about "our continued partnership." Meanwhile, their backoffice kept renewing our existing plan, sending mixed messages.

After years of being their advocate, we were left feeling like just another number to squeeze for revenue.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FusionAuth’s IAM platform was built with developers in mind and is API-first, meaning developers are able to easily integrate its authorization and authentication services such as OAuth, OpenID Connect and SAML directly into the products they're building. At the time we selected them, they were leagues ahead of other competitors like Auth0 in this regard.

 ### 11. User-Friendly Integration with Easy Setup

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stoyan K. | Senior Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2026

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

I use FusionAuth for authentication and user management, including for SSO and roles. I find it user-friendly and that it works out of the box. It's easy to integrate too. The setup is straightforward, and the documentation is clear, which enhances my experience significantly. Compared to Keycloak, FusionAuth feels less complicated and more straightforward, making the initial setup pretty easy.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

The UI feels too complicated at first. Some advanced features take time to understand, and an advanced toggle or similar option could be helpful.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use FusionAuth for authentication and user management. It saves time on building and maintaining our own auth system.

 ### 12. FusionAuth is secure and has hassle free authentication and is also very flexible

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan L. | Chief Technology Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

What I like most about FusionAuth is how incredibly easy it is to integrate into our applications, especially when working under tight deadlines. Its adaptability with social logins changes everything. I have used it for minimal setup single sign-on and two factor authentication. The Universal Login function also made our sign-in process flawless on several platforms. It’s one of the few tools I’ve worked with that feels like it was built with developers in mind.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

The only real drawback I’ve noticed is the pricing as your usage scales — it can become a concern for startups or smaller teams. While support is generally helpful, having more instant, real-time assistance for critical production issues would be great. FusionAuth occasionally lacks the brand-based confidence found inAuth0 or Okta, which might concern some stakeholders.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FusionAuth saved weeks of laborious effort for our SaaS platform serving numerous tenants, which needed a safe authentication system. We had everything functioning in a few days instead of creating login flows and user management from nothing. It has drastically cut development time but still let us live in a trustworthy and safe environment. Unlike some other options like AWS Cognito, which felt overly complex and clunky, FusionAuth felt intuitive, developer-focused, and ready to scale with us.

 ### 13. FusionAuth has been a great solution for replacing our original provider.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darrell S. | Director of DevOps, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2024

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

FusionAuth has been very easy to integrate with, supports all of our requirements, including a vendor supported terraform module, and the admin/management UI is easy to work with and navigate. Developers were able to adapt easily to the new provider and new features have been very easy to implement. Their customer support has been fabulous when we needed them. We utilize FusionAuth for all systems in all environments.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

There is one nagging bug that we would love fixed that happens rarely but it's a difficult fix I guess and still has not been released.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FusionAuth is our authorization system for our applications. It helps us meet our compliance requirements and requires no real management from us. Our customers like it because of the seamless SSO support and MFA capabilities. It's available as a SaaS product which we use for most of our applications. For a very few specialized deployments which frown upon using a cloud offering, we can deploy FusionAuth in a container and meet those requirements.

 ### 14. Fantastic piece of software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shane M. | Group IT Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

FusionAuth is a solid identity and access management (IAM) platform, and what stands out the most—what I “like best”—depends a bit on the use case, but here are the big highlights:

	1.	Developer-Friendliness: FusionAuth is built with developers in mind. It’s easy to install (via Docker or native install), well-documented, and has good SDKs for multiple languages. The API-first approach makes it very customisable.

	2.	Feature-Rich for Free Tier: The Community edition offers a surprising number of features out of the box—like OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML, 2FA, JWT support, and more—without needing a paid plan right away.

	3.	Self-Hosting Option: Unlike many identity providers that are strictly SaaS, FusionAuth lets you self-host. That’s huge for organisations that need control over data, want to comply with specific regulations, or just prefer managing their own stack.

	4.	Extensibility: You can add custom JWT claims, create custom user data fields, and even run Lambdas (small bits of custom code) during events like login or registration.

	5.	Migration & Import Tools: FusionAuth has robust tooling for migrating from other auth systems—super useful when switching from Auth0, Firebase, or a custom-built solution.

	6.	Multi-Tenant Support: If you’re building a SaaS platform, their multi-tenant support makes it easy to separate user bases across different organisations or applications.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

the admin UI can feel clunky and unintuitive at times, especially when configuring more advanced features like custom workflows or email templates. It works, but there’s a bit of a learning curve and some UX polish could go a long way.

Also, for very large-scale enterprise needs, you might hit some limitations unless you go with the paid version.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Steep Learning Curve for Advanced Features: While basic setup is straightforward, configuring things like multi-tenancy, custom JWT claims, or advanced workflows can be confusing without diving deep into docs.

	2.	UI/UX Friction: The admin dashboard isn’t the most intuitive—some settings are buried in menus or worded in ways that aren’t super clean.

	3.	Limited Built-in User Management Tools: Compared to some competitors, bulk user management, advanced segmentation, or analytics features are limited or require external integration.

	4.	Community Support vs. Enterprise: The community edition is great, but support is community-based unless you pay for a plan. This can be a bottleneck if you hit a critical issue and need fast help.

	5.	Customisation Has Limits: While extensible, certain workflows (like custom registration flows or deep UI customisation) might require awkward workarounds or external systems.

	6.	Docker-Only Convenience: The easiest path to set up is Docker, but if you’re not using containers, the manual install path can be more painful and dependency-heavy.

 ### 15. FusionAuth is secure, smart, and surprisingly simple to use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

What I love most about FusionAuth is how it brings together all the tools and platforms I need under one secure roof and as a result I no longer waste time hunting down login links or juggling a dozen passwords and everything I need is in one place. It’s easy to use, integrates seamlessly with other systems, and the browser extension makes starting my day effortless. I especially appreciate the ability to customize access depending on roles within the organization and something other tools like Okta and OneLogin struggled to handle as cleanly.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

One thing I wish FusionAuth handled better is session duration and I’d love the option to stay logged in for a defined number of days without being forced to reauthenticate so often. Occasionally, if a deployment isn’t planned well, it can feel overwhelming for new users to get the hang of. I’ve also noticed some limitations with integrating tools like Jira and Git, which competitors like Okta seem to support more readily.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using FusionAuth, my daily routine started with manually logging into more than 10 applications, often spending 10–15 minutes just getting set up. Now, I log in once, and FusionAuth handles the rest—saving me time and mental bandwidth every single day. It’s also solved the major headache of password management; I only need to remember one, and with MFA options like SMS or app authentication, I feel secure.

 ### 16. Solid authentication solution that scales well with growing projects!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark H. | Backend Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

It gives me full control over user management without forcing me into a specific workflow. The documentation is clear and the admin dashboard is easy to navigate. I like that it supports multiple authentication methods like OAuth, SAML, and passwordless so I can adapt it for different clients.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

The initial setup takes some patience especially if you are hosting it yourself. Some advanced configurations feel a bit buried in the settings.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed a way to handle logins and registrations securely across multiple apps without building everything from scratch. FusionAuth let me plug in robust authentication quickly while keeping user data safe. It’s saved me a lot of development time and reduced maintenance headaches.

 ### 17. Robust and super complete user management system

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

I love that it is developer-oriented and super flexible. Usually, any of the competitors are extremely expensive and difficult to use, but FusionAuth makes things super smooth and easy to implement. We have utilized the Terraform integration to deploy it, making our infrastructure easier to maintain and develop.

When it comes to users, it is a smooth integration that allows the user to authenticate from any of our platforms with ease and provides all the authentication methods that we would need. We primarily use magic links to avoid using passwords, and the integration was very straightforward forward and it works like a charm.

They also provide third-party integrations, such as Kafka, that make integration with the rest of our infrastructure extremely straightforward, allowing us to utilize what we already have.

Their customer support is great, we have only had great experiences when we need to contact them.

We have more than 20,000 users and around 4,000 monthly active users, and have used this product in production for more than 4 years.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

Because FusionAuth is so developer-oriented, the integration with templates and UI is very complicated. There's no easy way to implement a custom theme, so it is easier to create a custom solution that uses their internal system. UX is not the best with their default system, so it's better to steer away from that completely.

It would be awesome if they allowed some kind of infrastructure peering to make the integration with existing cloud infrastructure easier and more secure without having to deploy our self-managed instance.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use FusionAuth to offer a single point of entry for our users. We provide services that integrate multiple systems and FusionAuth provides the use with an easy way to login to all of those systems. We have thousands of people using our systems so this is a secure and budget friendly solution to easily manage all the users in one central place.

 ### 18. Easy to integrate, flexible in use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

FusionAuth stands out as a developer-friendly identity and access management (IAM) platform that excels in ease of integration, flexibility, and multi-tenancy—qualities especially valuable for SaaS providers. I really like the SaaS offering with its development friendly pricing with option to upgrade for a more enterprise level of scalability and availability.
Administration of the SaaS instance is headache free with option to update FusionAuth by a "single" button with a minimal downtime.
IAM admin panel have nice UI/UX which was important at beginning of our IAM adventure because we did not have enough time to integrate IAM admin panel into our application.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

It would be nice to integrate FusionAuth SaaS offering into our monitoring and uptime tracking solutions. Right now we do not see easy solution for this.
Our custom workflows required to write a library to ensure no possibility of making mistakes when integrating it in our modular backend application.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FusionAuth enabled IAM/CIAM for our modular application with options to restricts access to modules for specific roles or clients.

 ### 19. A Mixed Bag with FusionAuth

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

I really appreciate the customization FusionAuth brings to the table - it’s a standout feature that gives you the flexibility to mold it to your specific needs. The model is well-designed, and the feature set is impressive, covering a lot of bases for authentication and user management. It feels developer-friendly, which makes integration into projects smoother and more enjoyable.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

Despite its strengths, there are some frustrating drawbacks. The API breaking between releases is a big issue - it’s disruptive and adds unnecessary rework. I also found the authorization customization lacking; there’s no easy way to implement permission-based or attribute-based authorization, which feels like a missed opportunity for a service like this. On top of that, the API can be unreliable. For example, when deleting a user from a group, I’ve seen inconsistent results—sometimes it removes their roles, sometimes it doesn’t, and it’s unpredictable. These issues make it harder to rely on consistently.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FusionAuth is solving problems related to authentication, authorization, two-factor authentication (2FA), and single sign-on (SSO) by offering a system that manages user logins, assigns basic roles, provides 2FA options like Google Authenticator or SMS, and enables SSO across applications using standards like OAuth2 and OpenID Connect. For me, this means I can offload these identity management tasks without building them from scratch, which reduces development time. However, the inconsistent API behavior - like unpredictable role deletions when removing users from groups - and limited authorization flexibility require me to spend extra effort on workarounds or adjustments.

**Official Response from Story Tweedie-Yates:**

> Thank you for the feedback and I apologize for some of the technical troubles that you’ve had. I wanted to take an opportunity to address some of the concerns you brought to our attention.

Typically our API rarely changes (we occasionally may add parameters or additional API endpoints but the existing functionality rarely changes). Not to say it never does but we’d be very interested in determining when and how this occurred for you. With that, if you would not mind sharing the API endpoints that gave you trouble on our Community Forum (https://fusionauth.io/community/forum/) we’d be interested in taking a look. If you believe you have found an undocumented bug you can also file an issue here (https://github.com/FusionAuth/fusionauth-issues/issues/).

Regarding your comment about roles and groups, I agree that aspect can be confusing at times. You can find a description of what happens with roles when removing a user from a group here (https://fusionauth.io/docs/apis/groups#remove-users-from-a-group). The major take away is how the roles were applied to the user originally. If roles were originally applied to a user upon registration to an application, manually via the FusionAuth Admin UI, or by using the User API, adding or removing them from a group will not affect those roles. If roles were added when adding a user to a group, then removing that user from the group will also remove the roles.

I hope that provided more clarity and please don’t hesitate to post in our Community forum (https://fusionauth.io/community/forum/) if you have additional questions.

 ### 20. FusionAuth Platform Review: A Developer-Friendly, Secure IAM Solution for Modern Applications

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thilina M. | Senior Tech Lead , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

FusionAuth comes highly recommended as a secure, flexible, and production-ready identity and access management (IAM) solution. It's perfect for projects that need scalable identity services, complete with full Active Directory and LDAP support, multi-tenant management, and tools designed with developers in mind.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

All good. Still not found any issues in FusionAuth

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unified Identity Management
Problem: Juggling authentication across various applications—whether they’re web-based, mobile, or APIs—using custom authentication logic can lead to errors, security issues, and scalability challenges.
How FusionAuth Helps:
FusionAuth streamlines user authentication by leveraging industry standards like OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and SAML, creating a cohesive identity platform for all our applications.

 ### 21. FusionAuth is a solid authentication provider with fair pricing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

FusionAuth is a solid authentication provider with fair pricing when compared to other providers. It is fully feature, offering authentication methods ranging from classic user/password to magic links and social IDPs. It is easy to use, easy to integrate and implement thanks to the technical resources they provide, both in the form of documentation and subject matter experts. As an Enterprise client, we have access to a Slack channel allowing us to get quick and responsive support from the FusionAuth team. FusionAuth Cloud is a robust solution that can be used to authenticate hundreds of thousands of users on a daily basis.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

The Terraform provider to manage the FusionAuth deployment configuration sometime lags behind software releases leading to some issues when environments are strictly managed via Infrastructure as Code practices. Some customization and configuration options can only be defined at the Tenant level which can lead to some pain points when it comes to meeting some product or business requirements on an application-per-application basis. The FusionAuth Cloud versions lacks some monitoring options like Prometheus that are available when self-hosting.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FusionAuth Cloud allows our business to provide secure, state of the art authentication to our users without the need to develop a significant authentication and security expertise in house. The Cloud version is also very stable and robust which allows us to have peace of mind when it comes to the availability of our authentication platform.

 ### 22. Great tool to put OAuth2 in place

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

The best thing about FusionAuth is all the explanations it comes with. It allowed less experienced members of our team to understand how a secure OAuth2 system/procedure works thanks to the multiple graphs provided. The integration wasn't too hard either. It's also something you have to put in place once, but will then literally benefit from/use everyday day.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

I haven't heard any complaint from the team. However, some members found it to be harder to understand. But, the more experienced members where able to help them thanks to the doc.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is allowing us to put in place a fully secure authentication procedure. No need to worry about the security of the Auth process anymore (since we put FusionAuth in place).

 ### 23. FusionAuth lets me focus on my application, not fighting user management and authn

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

Offloading user account management to FusionAuth allows me to support a ton of different auth providers without having to write endless glue code and inevitably screw up auth and leave my users vulnerable.

I really like being able to quickly integrate authentication into my app, create users and have them setup their accounts/reset passwords/setup MFA all without having to stand up my own extra infrastructure to do it.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

I've had some frustrating bugs where user account creation failed with limited feedback. I suspect the reasoning is to avoid things like account enumeration, but it makes troubleshooting difficult without a lot of additional logging on my side.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use FusionAuth to manage user accounts (standalone & SSO) for access to our customer portal.

 ### 24. A generally decent auth provider for devs and enterprises.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** S W. | Technical & Solutions Architect, Financial Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

Good documentation. Decent, responsive support with multiple channels. Large and exanding featureset. Straightworward integration with any platform supporting OIDC/SAML.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

Some implementation quirks, though generally easy to deal with using support.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Unified auth for our platforms and systems for both internal users and customers means that we don't need to roll our own, or manage in multiple places.

 ### 25. Perfect Auth Solution for SaaS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Makarand B. | Founder & Chief Partnership Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

FusionAuth delivered a seamless auth solution for our multi-tenant SaaS without any workarounds.
Onboarding was fast and smooth, Clean APIs, solving our needs right out of the box.
Their customer success team is prompt, helpful, and always available when needed

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

We found the social login integration to have a learning curve, but we had a alternatitve so did not leverage this feature

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FusionAuth is solving our multi-tenant authentication challenges by providing a clean, out-of-the-box solution that doesn’t require workarounds. It allows us to manage users and tenants efficiently, with a fast onboarding process. This has saved us time, reduced complexity, and ensured a more secure and scalable auth setup.

 ### 26. Fusion Auth Is Awesome

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Satyam G. | Programmer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

I like the fact it can be integrated with any codebase. I had created my sso completely open source.
Its secure when you create sso it makes the cookie http only this way only your backend server can read it

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

Even they provide customize theme for enterprise plan but there should be more preinstall ui the current one is just two tiny small boxes

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fusion auth handles authentication across platforms and website that has different subdomain but same domin I've tried

 ### 27. Fusionauth is budget friendly option for providing SSO to your products

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

- Easier integration with third parties (google, social logins etc)
- Newer login options (webauthen)
- No code solution for login/signup and emails
- Terraform provider to maintain configuration across different env (dev, staging, prod)

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

- Optional state from frontend doesn't get persisted between MFA
- State doesn't go through transactional webhooks

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're providing SSO to our users for around 4 products. Its really easy to integrate across different products, e.g next-auth supports fusionauth out of the box.

 ### 28. Reliable Product

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mayuran S. | Director of Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

Ease of integration and implementation was the primary reason to move forward with FusionAuth as our vendor. They are extremely communicative with any downtime and have only 1 incident that affected our integration since we integrated FusionAuth in Oct 2023.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

Easier access to uptime such as a status page would be appreciated

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Offboarding CIAM was the primary focus and introducing MFA needed for our cloud security needs.

 ### 29. A highly customizable authentication provider

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

With FusionAuth it becomes easy to manage the authentication of its applications. One of the biggest advantages of Fusionauth that I appreciated is its API interface which allows to build an overlay when Fusionauth does not make accessible to certain functionalities while maintaining Fusionauth as the authentication core.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

Currently, it is not yet possible to manage one-click migrations between different instances or environments. The only possible solution is to write scripts that can apply changes between different environments; this works but could be made even easier if fusionauth allowed one-click migrations.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- User management
- Authentication
- Authorization

 ### 30. Excellent product and great resources are available

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott F. | CEO, CTO, CFO, CMO, CSO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2024

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

Logically it makes sense. They also provide SDKs for frameworks like Angular. Their blog posts, AI Bot are all useful resources for figuring out OAuth and integrating their products. And, they continually improve these resources.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

The Angular SDK appears to prevent using FusionAuth in a way that seems that is supported by other OAuth compliant servers; e.g. OAuth. Specifically, for additional security, it seems as if the Angular SDK doesn't allow you to have the Authentication server (self-hosted or FusionAuth Cloud) deployed to the cloud and yet use it for local development. It seems like this should be allowed because of other OAuth servers support it and there are other mechanisms to prevent the CORS issues other than the headers the Angular SDK uses.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's allowing me full control using a very capable Authentication Server for free. I host it in Digital Ocean via a Docker container for about $15/mo which is great. And, while learning about OAuth, I was able to explore the various GET and POST requests with JWT to explore the OAuth specification.

**Official Response from Brad McCarty:**

> Hey Scott! Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. I chatted with our devrel folks and they had some insight for me to pass along. First, it's worth noting that this isn't really a CORS issue, but rather an issue with how FusionAuth uses cookies While you can use localhost, it probably takes more setup than is ideal. We have a [caution] block in this section of our docs that explains a bit more.

Always happy to chat further. And of course the Community forums might have folks who have run into the same issue, but have found a creative way to solve it.

 ### 31. AuthX made simple

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2024

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

The community editon helped us to easily implement a powerful AuthX for our services. It also provides an API which makes integration very easy.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

The pricing model imposes some ties between the hosting plans and the license plans, for example you cannot use a community or a starter license on a high availability hosting, it has to be a more expensive one. So if a set of basic features suffice for your needs but you want high availability the only option is to self host.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves all of our authentications and authorization problems :)

**Official Response from Brad McCarty:**

> Thanks so much for the review. We're always looking at the best ways forward with pricing, and we'll definitely take your feedback into account.

 ### 32. Easy to use IAM solution

It comes with a lot of features such as Integration with comme IdentityProviders, customizations of emails and much more.

Very easy to setup on a local machine with their docker image or on cloud for you production purpose.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

Not much to say. :-) It serves our needs very well.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to build up an IAM solution management very quickly.
We use it to implement our Oauth2 security patterns.

 ### 33. FusionAuth, A highly flexible, cost effective platform that covers all your user management needs.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kranthi R. | senior software engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

Flexibility and a lot of options to build customised solutions.
Especially the ability to manage users across different countries with clear boundaries using tenants.
Customisations ranging from themes, lamdas to sms templates.
Events, logs and auditing it just covers all your needs.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

UI customisations need improvements. Request logs needs to be improved a lot.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

User management and access management across our apps.

 ### 34. pleased with FusionAuth

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

Self-hosting FusionAuth was a great selling point for us. It's SDK is feature rich and very dev friendly. We've been able to easily integrate FusionAuth into our ecosystem.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

There were some areas where documentation was a bit sparse and caused us a bit of confusion.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Out of the box, self-hosted, feature rich identity and access management

 ### 35. An all in one identity management provider.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin T. | Product Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

It provided a singular method of authentication across our various platforms with the ability to migrate authentication details.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

We had to navigate conflicts where IDs were shared across multiple platforms. This process was not easy and had to be manually solved.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Multiple platforms with a unified authentication system.

 ### 36. Excellent product, responsive team

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rod M. | Distinguished Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

Has the features we need, easy to use libraries, team responds to questions/suggestions in a timely manner. Support for SCIM, SAML. Easy to integrate into our application.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

Need more information in some Lambdas (JWT Populate)
Not easy to follow what the future feature roadmap is.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Freeing us from having implement SCIM/SAML/Password policies.

 ### 37. FusionAuth has provided exceptional support and all necessary features for our online application

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darrell S. | Director of DevOps, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2024

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

FusionAuth provides a Terraform provider which allows DevOps to support it along side all of our IaC. Their APIs also allow easy integration with scripts where necessary for importing, exporting, and managing all Dev, QA, and Production environments. Our Developers are enthusiastic about the level of documentation and the ease of integration and implementation. We've had excellent support from FusionAuth when needed.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

It would be helpful if FusionAuth supported vanity domains for each of our environments instead of only for each FusionAuth server.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are providing authentication of users and applications within our application eco-system.

**Official Response from Brad McCarty:**

> Thanks for the feedback, Darrell. I'll pass on your vanity domain thoughts to the Product team. That's an interesting idea!

 ### 38. Great IDP for Developer

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mitchell W. | Director Product Strategy, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2024

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

There are lots of IDPs out there. This one is focused for developers. APIs are at the forefront of their product. Easy to embed in your product. Also, the pricing is tailored to developers versus the big guys.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

It is not as well known as the larger players such as Entra or Okta. Their cloud model is not a multi-tenant model. Seems like they host individual systems on vms.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a SaaS app. We are looking for a platform that can handle identity management for our application

**Official Response from Brad McCarty:**

> Thanks for the review, Mitchell! I'd love to hear more about your thoughts on multi-tenant. As far as we're concerned, being single-tenant hosted means that you don't have to worry about problems with noisy neighbors, and it helps you avoid potential breaches when someone else causes a problem.

 ### 39. Enabling Webhooks and License upgrades

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2025

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

I like the support Slack channel and the easy-to-understand API key UI.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

I tend to run into caching issues going from different environments/zones. Dev, Stage, & prod, for example.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer/User Identity.

 ### 40. FusionAuth is a great solution for developers needing identity management system.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aakanksha T. | Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2024

**What do you like best about FusionAuth?**

FusionAuth supports multiple authentication protocols (OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML), making it versatile for various application needs.

**What do you dislike about FusionAuth?**

For those new to identity management, the range of features and configurations can feel overwhelming. A more streamlined onboarding process could help.

**What problems is FusionAuth solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to easily customize the login and registration interfaces allows developers to maintain their brand identity while providing a seamless user experience.

**Official Response from Brad McCarty:**

> Thanks for your kind words, Aakanksha! We're always looking at ways to improve our user experience. I'll pass your thoughts along to the Dev team.
