It was easy to set up the data capture templates using the website tools. The templates were then uploaded onto the user's phones by simply refreshing their app. The users require minimal training to use the app. Uploading the users data to a common cloud-based database by simply refreshing their app is probably the best feature of Fulcrum. No data loss and no duplication of data with multiple users. We also like the licensing. We are seasonal users. So during the off-season we just keep one account active in order to save our templates and access our database online. **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** No real cons. Probably could be advertised more with some real-world examples on how to utilize the software. We learned about Fulcrum word of mouth. Uploading background images could be easier. We currently create maptiles using TileMill which can be tricky. **What problems is Fulcrum solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Fulcrum in the mineral exploration industry where our sampling crews capture their field sample descriptions on their Android phones. Android phones are simpler to use as we can load background maps as maptiles into the app (a bit tricky to load onto iPhones). Crews record sample descriptions, take sample photos, and capture GPS coordinates all with their phone. Cell phone service or Internet is not required while in the field. The sampling crew refresh their phone app when they get back to camp in the evening where satellite Internet is available. So by the end of the day everyone's field data has been uploaded to the cloud. Head office can view progress within a few hours either with the map viewer on the Fulcrum website or by loading into the company's GIS database. ### 4. We started using it for just one process to collect the data. Now we are using it for over 150 different data collections applications. Other departments have also picked up the application and are using it. **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** I would like to be able to design the lay out of the PDF a little more. If we could apply a logo or a header to the page, and have a table print out in the PDF would be nice. Before Fulcrum, this was all done by paper and manually input to a database for client delivery. Since using Fulcrum, we have saved countless hours in manpower in this one task alone. Being able to have full control of the data that is being input into the system has eliminated any chance of possible incorrect data input and illegible data entries. **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** Since we are an Australian based company, gathering support from the team has made it difficult due to time zone differences. Having a representative closer to our time zones would alleviate the time gap in support. **Recommendations to others considering Fulcrum:** Our team has used a slew of other data collection software previously. We used Fulcrum first and looked to see if there was any other companies that either matches or exceeds what Fulcrum can offer. In my opinion, not one program come close to what Fulcrum has to offer when it comes to ease of use combined with full functionality. **What problems is Fulcrum solving and how is that benefiting you?** Having multiple work fronts from different disciplines in the field means a great deal of traditional paperwork was being submitted on a daily basis. This often lead to misplaced data sheets, incorrect formatting of data retrieval, data being input into incorrect sections. Having a unified system that allows single point entry, controlled formatting, and allowing for only certain users to have access to their relevant app has cleaned up the data offloading process for the client. ### 6. The reliability is great - we've never had issues with syncing problems, missing data, or anything else. It just works. The ability to bring in external layers through projects like OpenAerialMaps and Mapbox are also very useful. **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** I'd like to be able to collect more than just points. It would be great to also collect polylines and polygons. **What problems is Fulcrum solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Fulcrum within the Structural Extreme Events Reconnaissance network to coordinate and conduct post-disaster structural assessments of buildings and other structures. Using Fulcrum has dramatically improved our workflow and ability to coordinate and involve other collaborators. By making a custom app to gather time and material charges in a simple and streamlined way, everyone keeps charges updated, even me. This has allowed us to capture work that otherwise would have been given away. **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** I don't like the small cell phone screen, not Fulcrum's problem. We have had to choose a target platform (IOS) to reduce development costs. I would have hoped that Fulcrum would have ensured consistency to take the burden of cross-platform checking away from their clients. We have users across two agencies. They are effectively one user of Fulcrum but the licence model requires them to be paying two subscriptions. This sucks. The ability to import excel makes projects simple to start and simple to track. We used Fulcrum to map out the addresses and document all information needed to compete work orders and swaps in our system. We once had to go out, get the address from measurements and then come back and draw them into ArcMap. Now i take my phone out, collect the point, enter that data I would have entered into the fields on ArcMap and then it pushes the data to QGIS which in turn pushes the data to PostGIS for my GeoServer. You can easily push it into other platforms for analysis, documentation, and presentation. After reviewing a number of similar platforms, we selected Fulcrum for its ease of use, data privacy, and cost. **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** Fulcrum is so great that it's hard to dislike much. My only comment would be that data collection is limited to point features. It'd be great to collect data for polygon and path features. **Recommendations to others considering Fulcrum:** Fulcrum is easy to pick-up and above and beyond capable of managing robust data. Don't hesitate to reach out directly to Fulcrum support if you have initial questions. We previously documented data manually on paper in the field. Data was then entered in spreadsheets back in the office which consumed a lot of valuable staff hours. We also like options for design app. It is firendrly user and we apreciate that all of our co-worker can use our designed application when needed. Also, extraction of data allow us to share simply our result with partners. The use of the various interfaces allows us to quickly present our applications and our data as much on the field as meeting. **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** We sometimes need a lot of test and error to make some functions work. And all informations is not include in FAQ, or some rubric are missing details, but with customer support is always available so we work with that. **Recommendations to others considering Fulcrum:** We recommend Fulcrum for any need for data collection and in all areas of expertise. Fulcrum has already been suggested to several partners. They recognize the utility and ease of use. **What problems is Fulcrum solving and how is that benefiting you?** We upgrade security on the trail we are taking care of by collecting all flaws with photos, dates and details we can send to cities, which can repair. This help us in case of prosecution. All administrators in charge of security and quality on the trail really appreciate the report we gave them. The ability to change or modify the program in field instantly is a welcomed bonus and a big time savor. The unique build for each vendor allows for significantly less data collection errors. **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** I'd love to see collection of line/polygon features integrated. I'd also like to see the option to create custom reports (drag and drop) without consulting with Fulcrum's designers.
