The print function is excellent for sending data in a professional format for high-level presentation. **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** The photo log has always been the least impressive aspect. Nothing is frustrating about it necessarily, but there is a lot of room for improvement. It would be great if we could reorganize or reorder files after uploading and upload multiple files at a time. It would also be helpful to have a zoom-in feature in the gallery view and an easy download option for multiple photos. I also think the print option could be more customizable. We've had to create report generator webpages for client data because the print function isn't customizable. **What problems is Fulcrum solving and how is that benefiting you?** Data management from traditionally hard copy, routine data collection. Also we're tackling multiple site projects that require photo, geolocating, and site specific info. Overall management and review of data collected has been a huge benefit. Fulcrum makes it easier, faster, and safer to collect and store data. There are 2 or 3 teams in different locations, but all the data collected is in the same database and can be analyzed as soon as team members synchronize. Setup was extremely easy to do and new changes are easy to implement. Not to mention, the app itself is easy to use and pretty self explanatory. **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** I don't like the fact that if you change the app template, you could lose information. I feel that if I add a section to the template, the information should auto populate into the blanks. **Recommendations to others considering Fulcrum:** If your company collects large amount of information, I would definitely look into Fulcrum. It's easy to set up and easy to use and collects a large amount of data for a small price tag. **What problems is Fulcrum solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Fulcrum to keep track of bank properties we inspect throughout the month. Being able to search for certain properties, pull up the photos and view the information in real time on our phones makes the app worth it's weight in gold. It makes my job so much easier . It allows me to capture the photos I need and the housing information needed on over 50 properties a month and transmit the information to the bank; without having to download info to a cd or send it online in 3 or 4 different batches. And then create as many fields as necessary to make the form. The update is immediate, and you can take it wherever you want with your mobile and take the surveys as many times as you wish. It is only necessary to know what you want to do **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** The logic necessary to make the fields is sometimes complex, depending on the objective of the survey and the information that needs to be collected. You can make changes quickly, but if you require a complex field, you must try several things until you get what you are looking for, or on the contrary, it will take some time. You can then create a company template, and then customize each report for a different client/project based on the specific needs of that client. There are a ton of great features packed into this app. **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** I do wish that there were more ways to adjust the template when it came to photos, particularly the photo captions. When adding text to a photo, you don't know how it will turn out or what it may cover until after the report generates, and if you could adjust where the text appeared over the photo, that would be a great improvement. **What problems is Fulcrum solving and how is that benefiting you?** I'm able to do site observations on construction sites and complete my report before I leave the site. This is extremely valuable as I can add text to each photo as I'm walking through the site so I know exactly where I've been and which room/area each photo is in and don't have to try and remember when I'm back at my desk several hours later. ### 11. We are also able to now collect data from these reports automatically where before we had to manually extract data. ### 12. For example after I edit an app, I then have to save it, then close it, then go back into the app, and then click on view records instead of just saving the edit and then going back to see the records quickly. When synced, it allows other staff to see real-time information. **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** Our App has multiple layers, of which one is used locating specific sites to be removed, the sites are marked with colored pins which are red. Once the sites are removed it would be useful for the pins to change to the colour green but this cannot be done. **Recommendations to others considering Fulcrum:** Prospective users should consider what information they require and how they want to use the collected data. Potential users should trial Fulcrum first to test if it is compatible with existing systems already in use. **What problems is Fulcrum solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before Fulcrum, our records were handwritten in the field then transferred into files kept on a server at the office. The API Repo and Documentation is quite extensive, enabling us to automate tasks and build great user Scripts, which ease the Repetitive Works. **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** 1. The Issues raised in Github repositories are not timely responded which reduces efficiency to build user scripts. 2. Linking of ARC GIS with Fulcrum is cumbersome; Fulcrum Developers should automate the connection between the two. Subsequently, it will decrease the time for shifting data from one point to another. **What problems is Fulcrum solving and how is that benefiting you?** 1. We have been doing a Complete Scope Analysis, Survey to distribute FTTH Networks in many districts with around 100K+ data points. The most important benefit we realized is the Analytics provided by data which helps us build the Cost Estimate Budget for the entire District in a time-constrained environment. 2. The reports exported by Fulcrum are data-oriented and as per the requirement of the end-user. ### 18. As our company grows and we discover new and better ways to convey the repairs that are needed to the customer, we are able to edit both how the repairs are documented and how they are shown to the customer to make the management process of the job easier. **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** The only thing I have found that would make Fulcrum easier for my field technicians is the coloring of repair items so it wasnt as mono-chromatic. They have to carefully search to find the next item in the list to complete. I use it frequently for ecological data capture to pinpoint plants and plant communities, ecosystems, habitat features, and related information. It mostly satisfies my needs in these ways. It allows data dumps in multiple formats for use in outside mapping and interpretive software, for my own uses and for uses by clients who want Google Earth, ArcGIS, or other compatible formats. **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** The primary weakness is that paths and polygons cannot be captured. When paths are necessary, I have added a field for direction of travel, and the distance to the next point is assumed. In some cases, a distance is recorded in a Remarks field. The forms or "apps" is very scalable and highly customizable. I also like the fact that Fulcrum allows you to store data and photos on their server, and you also have the option to add codes to tweak data management further. **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** For our purpose, the map component could have improved as it was lacking a scale bar. I think it's less of an issue for people who use this app in the city where roads have names etc, but very hard to navigate when you're out in the bush. **Recommendations to others considering Fulcrum:** I think this product is comparable to other similar products at a higher price tag, as long as you're in the urban areas where you can rely on basemaps for general navigation. If you're planning to use them for field data collection, I think it will help organize, but reconnaissance sampling may be hard to do with Fulcrum alone (no scale bar so with no point of reference, it's difficult to navigate). **What problems is Fulcrum solving and how is that benefiting you?** Mass data collection in rural parts of Canada. It does streamline a lot of the data collection by using barcodes and sample tags, observations made which is highly customizable. ### 26. It allows for easy customization, as well as exposing the back end scripting API to perform some more advanced tasks. **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** Their pricing model is quite frustrating and ultimately might end up being why we will end up leaving for a different data collection app. First you pay for the number of users, then if you require more than the initial 20GB of data, you are forced to pre-purchase "data blocks" in 20GB chunks. If you do not have enough data blocks, the app rejects your devices from syncing. If you have way more data blocks than you need, you have to pay for them anyway. I get it; as a business, this is a great way to sucker people into paying for more than they need, but why not make it more automatic and customer friendly? After all, they are basically reselling Amazon S3 storage for a 5000% upcharge. **Recommendations to others considering Fulcrum:** Be sure to synchronize devices over Wifi, not mobile data. **What problems is Fulcrum solving and how is that benefiting you?** It makes it easy to distribute data collection tasks to field surveyors. We work with many different clients with varied data needs and the ability to tailor our reports to meet their needs sets us apart from our competition. We also find great value in the workflow abilities of the app. It is very easy to export shapefiles for further processing in GIS software or import existing shapefiles and count of the reliability of the data once imported. The help, assistance, and tutorials from the Fulcrum staff make it quick and easy to get up to speed on getting the most from the app. Quick training can save addition time when utilizing contract help. **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** The only downside is the lack of ability to adjust/edit data form in the field. If we were able to create forms or edit the data collected in the field it would increase our flexibility. At times we may need to edit the form for collecting data while on site and away from a desktop. I am not sure how much more challenging this would make the script for the app to complete. It would also be nice if we could tie the satellite image base to a higher resolution source, such as NearMap to increase the accuracy of our base. **Recommendations to others considering Fulcrum:** Utilize the support network to facilitate your workflow. **What problems is Fulcrum solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is increased efficiency in the field with data collection and sped workflow in the office in processing data. We can complete work quickly in the field and turn around projects rapidly to our clients, providing more value to them. It is also beneficial to clients we have helped establish their own account and we can move data back and forth to increase collaboration. We are able to dynamically manage tree canopies remotely working with staff on the ground to make long-term decisions with sound data. ### 28. The ability to collect and monitor compliance changes along with sending notifications to maintenance and operations staff from the field means we can monitor the compliance accurately and simply. Doing this over the 70km worksite length with paper forms and separate pictures would have been impossibly complex and unmanageable. The use of workflows, client viewing of the data and webhooks, along with the new customizable report are fantastic functions. On the other side, using advanced functionalities, it gives you the possibility to create very sophisticated forms, including complex logics and calculations, interoperability from and to third-party systems and a nice, fully customizable, report generator. Personally, I like the very easy integration with Google Sheets for data analysis, the possibility to import custom map layers and attention to details the developers put in the features provided. No programming knowledge is required to use Fulcrum but knowing some JavaScript allows you to develop an app really tailored to your needs. Programming with Fulcrum is quite easy and it is possible to learn from zero just using it. Fulcrum support is fast and very attentive to your requests and questions. **What do you dislike about Fulcrum?** I think that the Fulcrum mobile app interface, even if totally usable, might be a bit more modern and user-friendly. The licensing system is challenging for us.
