From my perspective, the main advantage of the tool is that you can parse big images (raw, e01 etc). Also, it’s user-friendly and makes things like searching, file carving, and timeline building super straightforward. Moreover, the e-mail analysis feature is also a big plus, and the automation it offers saves a ton of time without sacrificing accuracy. It can parse a Mac DMG (APFS) that even Magnet Forensic AXIOM could not parse at all. It is necessary to have this as a tool in the toolbox. Enterprise (\> 1000 emp.) 1/4/2024 "We have come a long way since 1.81" 5/5 What do you like best about FTK Forensic Toolkit? I started using FTK a very long time ago. I have used every version from 1.81 to 5.5. I skipped a few versions and returned with 7.6. But in all the changes the move to version 8 is by far the best. The ability to share the work with my investigators has never been easier. I have provided FTK reports before, but allowing the investigator to mark items for further review or to eleminate items that do not fit the bill is a total game changer. I really love that I can pull data from a cell phone, an exchange server and a laptop, and drop them into the same case and see time lines, data from emails next to text messages, and saved documents on a timeline can help locate a suspect in realtime.
