The free tier is very useful and provides more features and ways to monitor your sites/services than competing products. I'm especially happy with the TCP port monitoring that let's you properly check that a service is really running by checking the response for a specific string. Additionally, the ability to have more than one status page is great because we can setup a public facing status page that only shows relevant uptimes and also have an "internal" status page that shows us the status of everything at a glance.
