I've been using Freshbooks since 2011. It's a really easy to use accounting platform for anyone without an accounting background. I'm a freelancer so it's very easy to use their time tracking and bill my hours to clients as well as creates estimates, invoice project based work and set automatic monthly payments. It is terribly expensive compared to other similar services but has always been worth it in my opinion. However, recently they've changed their payment policies so that now, when a customer pays an invoice FreshBooks holds that payment for however long they'd like (some recent payments have taken a WEEK!) before passing the funds to my bank. They will remove the hold but only if you pay for their most expensive plan. If you're the type of business that needs money and relies on cashflow - stay away!! There are much better options out there. And I fear this new strategy of theirs shows a new attitude to freelancers and small business that is much less supportive and more predatory than what it used to be. I started using Freshbooks eight years ago to manage the finances of my executive coaching business. It's simple and easy to use. I have a lot of recurring business. Freshbooks allows me to set up recurring billing with ease. As a non-financial person, they make it very eas and intuitive to run my business.
