Easy to make general subprocesses and use them in multiple main processes. **What do you dislike about Frends?** Some times there is need of copying C# code from previous version of process and currently this is blocked. You can highlight the code but copy is not possible. (Edit: after two years, this is still the issue but it is manageable.) **What problems is Frends solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our problem previously was that our integration platform was way more complex for our use, and we had to resort to using consults making us integrations. Now we have been able to manage all by our selves, and couple of error that we have had we have got some great support to solve them. ### 2. I can make an integration or API in one afternoon and still have time for a coffee break. There's a lot of ready-made tasks, most of which are included. And if you run out of tasks, you can write custom C# code and you have the entire .Net framework available. You can also run external processes, which opens up the possibility to use e.g. Python to process data and return the data set back to Frends - Pandas is way easier to use than C# for data transformation. The services provided by HiQ work well most of the time and the developers are very knowledgeable and easily approached. Documentation is quite good, but occasionally out of date. **What do you dislike about Frends?** Some basics missing. Re-submit/reprocess would be really handy and has been standard in other integration tools for ages. Logging is adequate, but could use some development. Some minor GUI niggles and annoyances. The code completion functionality is lacking when writing straight C#. **What problems is Frends solving and how is that benefiting you?** Business integrations, data APIs, automations. Then got a call from Frends and it sounded heavenly good. Of course, as a Finn I would not believe anything I could not see with my own eyes, so we had a PoC with Frends, duplicating existing integration. One that took the existing vendor more than a week to build. Frends did it in an afternoon, one afternoon. So we changed to Frends and have no regrets. This year I have heard more and more our business partners have started to use Frends with their integrations. I think this has good momentum and wish I could buy their stock. **What do you dislike about Frends?** There is no reverse engineering tool, if I have a table I cannot just "bring" it into Frends. But maybe that is more a dedicated EDL tool thing, Frends is much more than that. We just want to use as little tools as possible. And if this EDL-feature starts to bug too much, I can create a script for it. So definately not a show stopper. **Recommendations to others considering Frends:** do a proof of concept. Tasks and code blocks can be tested, created and modified with an IDE like Visual Studio. Created, modified and fixed tasks can be distributed with GitHub for other developers. **What do you dislike about Frends?** Not all of the existing tasks do not have explanations of how to use them. Creating and modifying tasks with an IDE is not instructed for someone who isn't familiar with GitHub and IDEs. The how-to articles in frends documentation are good but only directional. So even if the UI is easy to start using, you still need to have a good understanding of what are you trying to do. **What problems is Frends solving and how is that benefiting you?** It does not need a developer bought outside of the firm.
