The thing I find more appealing about Forward Enterprise is that it makes the change impact discussion more clear. We were also very dependent on manual peer reviews prior to using it hence making it prone to error. We now try in scenarios prior to implementation and we notice risky exposures at an earlier stage. However, with Forward Enterprise I can do a search on the network as if I am querying a SQL database. The idea is very powerful. It maps our entire hybrid set up completely. I can trace the "hop-by-hop" path from my local server to the S3 bucket/or RDS instance. And, the new Forward AI is extremely useful because I can simply ask in plain speak why a […] It saves us so much “Mean Time to Innocence,” because we can very quickly prove the problem is in the network and not our data code. For example, prior to my team performing a large data migration or exposing a new port for a Kafka stream, we’re able to “predict” what the change would look like in Forward Enterprise. We ensure that not only are routing paths and security policies validated prior to implementation but also that service disruption occurs by accident. During release cycles, the frequency of use is high as we cannot afford failed updates. It fosters confidence within a team and minimizes emergency troubleshooting that will enable us to innovate more and less on the recovery of mistakes that can be avoided. I go back to the polygraph feature all the time – it really is a diagram showing you how all parts of your network are talking to each other and when you receive an alert you can actually follow the path as opposed to looking at logs and trying to guess. Setting up is serious business and not minor – onboarding is tough, cloud integration is dependent upon prerequisites that are not always clearly stated, and if you do not have someone on your team that already has experience with cloud security then you will have some difficulty getting started. The dashboard is somewhat confusing to use and creating custom views is not easy at all. Petty annoyance but it irks me: the status of vulnerabilities only update once daily, so you sit around waiting for 24 hours for the fix to be cleared in the platform after you apply the fix, and you cannot manually trigger an update. Prior to using this many teams used multiple tools for these pieces of the puzzle and things would fall through the cracks between them. Having all the components of risk management (misconfigurations, exposed workloads, etc.) in one view along with the ability to show a stakeholder the exact location of their risk and show your process, allows you to demonstrate accountability.
