Decipher is able to handle most API calls as well as intricate Python code so long as you have a clear goal of what you are trying to get. We are able to provide one stop solution for Programming, Invite send outs and Data presentation. Able to set custom sender for email campaigns and fully customize the invite using html tags. **What do you dislike about Forsta?** When dealing with Fatal Error messages the lines that are being designated as the culprit often are either before the actual problematic section or have no connection when RuntimeErrors are occurring due to virtual questions. Prior to the introduction of Delphi it was rather difficult to make changes to bigger projects after they started fielding due to the fact that you need to Remerge the project after making question changes, additions or removals in order to preserve all the data that has been collected. **Recommendations to others considering Forsta:** If you are coming for a platform in the realm of Qualtrics or Confirmit - Decipher is your best bet. You will be able to easily find your footing without having to deal with a steep learning curve and the Survey Builder makes it a walk in the park for people who do not have experience creating projects via XML/Shell. **What problems is Forsta solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are able to provide alternative solutions to client needs with a large set of tools that can go beyond the integrated Decipher Tools. We are able to provide clients with detailed Crosstabs and Dashboards with the need of additional Data Processing. ### 2. It is a very capable platform that allows companies to host surveys and manage quotas and such. Its Crosstabs function is also very easy to operate. Scripting in Decipher can be tricky sometimes but it has a lot to offer. **What do you dislike about Forsta?** Its lack of advanced analytics, having a way to analyze the data the same way it stores the data would be optimal. Being able to create graphs and visuals and such with the data would be great. **Recommendations to others considering Forsta:** It is a solid platform, that your company should give a try if they are looking for something that is easy to operate and a convenient way to host surveys and manage the results. **What problems is Forsta solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is very glitchy sometimes but overall it gets the job done. Some benefits that I have realized is the crosstabs and response summary page, this is great for quota management and being able to see what data you are actually getting. It can be hard to find platforms that have this capability while also being easy to operate. ### 6. The logic is very complex. **What do you dislike about Forsta?** It isn't user friendly so my less technical colleagues take a while ramping up. I don't understand why by default it doesn't present partial data (abandoned responses) in view/edit survey responses. We are researchers we always want all the data. I think you only store partial completes for a short time. Your help content isn't good. Often it is confusing so I create a ticket. **What problems is Forsta solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use it most for research recruitment and also some quantitative survey work. ### 7. Knowledge Base allows you to navigate any/all topics related to using the platform, for any role you may have using the platform (programmer, project manager, analyst, etc.). Ability to customize crosstabs at the question level, with charting features built in. More than just a standard topline or frequency report. Summary stats functionality for length of interview (LOI) / ability to include aggregate time stats in reports. Surprisingly, this type of reporting is hard to come by in platforms. You get the median or average, but no ability to apply data cuts and re-run or see min, max, st. dev, etc on LOI. In Decipher, it's treated like any other number, so those features work by default, but some platforms treat time information differently. **What do you dislike about Forsta?** I don't like that there's no way to customize the data downloads on the data downloads page. I routinely have to export more than just qualified responses, and every other programming/reporting platform I've worked with allows the user to customize the data export on the export page itself (including file type, layout, data cuts, and statuses to include -- completes, terms, etc.). Having to create a crosstab to build a data cut in order to export the full data set is an incredibly confusing thing to wrap your brain around for a new user. Every platform I've worked with gives me the option to do any of these things at the click of a button via a main menu; that is, they're not buried in other sections the way data cuts and custom exports are buried within crosstabs, which is not what crosstabs are used for. I also wish it were possible to save exports for re-run later or as static/fixed exports based on that timestamp. Other platforms have this for the most part. Data Cut functionality is also hard to navigate for new users. Data Cuts are standard practice for reporting, though there's no place that references "data cuts" specifically in the dashboard. This is covered by crosstab segments, which once created, become filters that can be applied to reports as data cuts; however, this process feels clunky and designed like an afterthought, when, in my experience, this is a really common feature. Status reporting. I don't like that quality removals are counted as terminations, along with respondents who are legitimate and simply didn't meet the screening criteria. From a reporting and analysis perspective, these respondents are not the same and should never be tagged the same on any level. While there is the option to filter in/out quality terminations vs. screening terminations, I feel like it's an unnecessary layer that I constantly have to work around. Most platforms I work with, or the ones I like working with most, have more granular status codes (completes, terminates, expunged, in-progress, inactives, etc.) by default, which offers more flexibility. I also dislike that partials include in progress and inactive respondents together. These are fundamentally different statuses, though both are technically "incompletes". While you can "hack" your way into seeing the in-progress count through the quotas section, most other platforms I've worked with show the number currently in progress by default in the field report and distinct from those who have abandoned the survey before completing / who are currently dormant/inactive in their session. This helps with fieldwork management so much, and makes a difference with reporting (e.g., how can I tell the difference between (a) 20% in progress -- which may be a good thing if I'm trying to field a survey quickly -- vs. (b) 20% drops -- which indicates there may be a programming issue that needs to be addressed?). Charting cannot be applied to a full report all at once (has to be enabled for each question one-by-one -- VERY time consuming!) If this is possible to do in one click, I've never been able to figure out how. **Recommendations to others considering Forsta:** It's a good platform. It's worth it if you want something simple and easy to use/navigate that also comes with a lot of programming bells and whistles. **What problems is Forsta solving and how is that benefiting you?** Quicker and more robust programming for the most part. It's easy to build surveys quickly, whether they're simple or complex, and without compromising the features/settings available for customization. With most builder tools, the simpler the UI, the more limited the options for customization (in the name of keeping things "simple"). What's nice about Decipher as a programming platform is it can be as straightforward or robust as you need it to be depending on your needs and skill level. ### 8.
