I do think that for some people the rigidity of the process and feedback gathering can be a challenge. If a leader is used to being coddled when it comes to design-specific decisions, it can be a shock to the system to work with such a laser-focused team that doesn't invest time in circutous thinking. Recommendations to others considering Focus Lab:

If price is a consideration, know that if you go with the cheapest branding option, you will end up paying more down the line as you seek to improve, refresh or better hit the mark with your branding.

I would consider our project to be on the more difficult end of branding projects in terms of stakeholder buy-in. Had we gone a different route than Focus Lab I am not convinced that the project would have been a success and I can see a world in which the new branding never fully launched. What problems is Focus Lab solving and how is that benefiting you?

I was managing a rebranding project with some very specific constraints. The business and industry had evolved and our core brand had not (nor had it ever really had the brand investment that it needed). The project was high visibility (as almost any branding project is) and needed some specific work to set the foundation of how brand change would work and benefit the company. I partnered with Focus Lab for a brand design project to launch Stitch Data. As the head of a small design team, we lacked the bandwidth and expertise to handle the design and launch of our product experience, website, and brand visuals within a short timeframe. After an exhaustive search, we chose Focus Lab, and they exceeded our expectations from the first conversation.

"Got it right with Focus Lab – the secret SAUCE"

What do you like best about Focus Lab?

Rebranding is a risky endeavor for a CMO. Get it right and you’re a hero. Get it wrong, and you’re… in trouble. Fortunately, I chose Focus Lab for our B2B rebrand project and I couldn’t be happier. Sure, they’re experts at branding. But they are also experts at taking their clients along for the journey with a proven process. They helped me avoid pitfalls like design by consensus. I respect that they always told me what I needed to hear versus just telling me what I wanted to hear. The project outcome was much better as a result.

When I introduced the new brand to the company, the reactions were overwhelmingly positive. “It feels just like us and something we can all rally behind” is what I heard consistently. Focus Lab captured the essence of who we are, and what we’re about with a bold visual identity and narrative. We could never have done this on our own.
