The V1\_\_, V2\_\_ naming makes the order of schema changes obvious, and running flyway migrate applies exactly what's pending, so every environment lands in the same state. It fits into a CI/CD pipeline with little effort, the schema history table gives a clear audit trail of what ran and when, and since it supports so many databases we didn't need a different tool per project. The most useful features (undo/rollback, dry runs, drift detection) sit behind the paid Teams and Enterprise tiers, so the Community edition can feel bare-bones for a growing team. Initial configuration (flyway.conf, placeholders, per-environment settings) takes some trial and error, and the error output on a failed migration could be clearer about what went wrong. I like how simple it is to use. This past year was the first time using Flyway Desktop and that helped me with making sure that the same schema changes are implemented across all envs in a much more intuitive way. I wish that it can be integrated with Github directly so that when a certain migration files are merged into specific branch (e.g. stg or main), it will apply to that environment. Maybe there's already something like that but I've been having to apply the migration changes manually. I also wish there was a way to see all the changes per table or see the final schema definition via AI or something.
