It shows you how people actually work with AI tools, by watching them do real work, rather than relying on CVs, interviews or self-reported skills. Every employer now wants AI skills, but most can't measure them. On paper, someone who is brilliant with AI and someone who has learned the right vocabulary look identical. Interviews only test how well people talk about AI. And most pre-employment tests and skills assessments still ban AI altogether, testing people in a way that looks nothing like the job. Fluencyfox does the opposite. Each candidate or employee spends up to an hour on a realistic work-sample task built around the role, using the AI tools they would use at work, such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, n8n or Zapier. An AI stakeholder called Maya knows the brief and answers questions the way a manager would. The whole session is recorded: full screen capture, camera on, and voice transcribed as they think aloud. Everyone receives three scores, weighted the way you choose: output quality (the work they actually produced), communication (how clearly they reason and explain decisions) and AI collaboration (how well they delegate to AI, brief it, check what comes back and own the result). AI collaboration is scored against Anthropic's AI Fluency Framework, and every skill maps to UNESCO, SFIA, the OECD AI Literacy framework and EU DigComp. Every score links to the evidence behind it, including chaptered video, a searchable transcript and the delivered file. For hiring, Fluencyfox integrates with your applicant tracking system, including Ashby. Move a candidate to the assessment stage and they receive a single-use link; scores and feedback flow straight back into the ATS. There are no invigilators and no scheduling, so it scales from fifty applicants to five thousand. That makes it a strong fit for graduate schemes and high-volume early-careers recruitment. SilverTree Equity used Fluencyfox to screen 700 applicants to its graduate scheme and found 6 tier-1 hires. For employee development and L&D, the same assessment maps AI fluency across the team you already have, by person, by capability and by department. Use it to run an AI skills gap analysis, pitch AI training at the right level, find the internal champions already doing this well, and re-assess six months later to show what your AI investment actually delivered. Individuals see their own results and leaders see the shape of the team, so it works as development, not performance management.
