  ### 7. Flexera - A Powerful Platform for Enterprise Software Asset Management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jorge A H. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Flexera?**

What I like most about Flexera is the visibility it gives us across a very large, complex environment. It consolidates information from many different systems and inventory sources, which makes it much easier to understand our overall software and hardware landscape in one place. I also appreciate how flexible the platform is: it can support a range of technologies, licensing models, and infrastructure types, which is especially valuable given the size and complexity of our environment.

**What do you dislike about Flexera?**

One of the biggest downsides of Flexera is the amount of ongoing maintenance needed to keep data accurate in a large, complex environment. With multiple inventory sources and integrations, inconsistencies can be hard to spot and even harder to resolve. Troubleshooting often requires a deep understanding of how the different components work together, which can make the platform challenging for teams without specialized technical knowledge. More automated cleanup, along with clearer visibility into how data is processed, would make Flexera much easier to manage day to day.

**Recommendations to others considering Flexera:**

My recommendation is to make sure you clearly understand your environment and business requirements before implementing Flexera. The platform is very powerful, but the quality of the results depends heavily on the quality of the data and the integrations feeding it. Having the right technical resources, well-defined processes, and ongoing maintenance is important, especially in large environments. When it’s properly implemented and maintained, Flexera can deliver significant value for managing software licensing, compliance, and optimization.

**What problems is Flexera solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Flexera helps us manage the complexity of software asset management across a large, global IT environment. With many different technologies, inventory sources, cloud platforms, and virtual environments in play, having a centralized view of our hardware, software, and license consumption is essential.

It also helps us understand where software is installed and how our infrastructure affects licensing, especially for complex products and licensing models. As a result, we get better visibility for compliance reviews, software renewals, and purchasing decisions. At the same time, it helps us identify opportunities to optimize license usage and reduce unnecessary costs.

Overall, Flexera gives our teams a more consistent, reliable source of information to support software asset management decisions across a highly complex environment.

The enhanced dashboards and visualizations made it quicker to identify cost-saving opportunities and monitor progress. I also appreciated the focus on knowledge sharing through workshops and walkthroughs, which prepared our team to manage the solution with greater confidence after the implementation.

**What do you dislike about Flexera?**

Support for critical production issues could be faster, with more clearly defined escalation procedures. Better alignment between the product, professional services, and support teams would make handovers and custom integration work more seamless. Documentation for custom reports and APIs could include more real-world examples to make implementation and maintenance easier. Greater transparency around change requests and professional services pricing would also help set clearer expectations from the beginning.

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Flexera?**

What I like most about Flexera is its strong software asset management capability. It provides centralized visibility of installed applications, normalized application recognition, license entitlements, usage, and compliance position.

The application recognition and license reconciliation features are particularly valuable because they reduce manual effort and make it easier to identify compliance risks, unused software, and optimization opportunities. The reporting and dashboards also help translate complex licensing data into actionable insights for IT, procurement, finance, and management.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Flexera?**

What I like best about Flexera is the visibility it provides into our software estate. It helps us quickly identify software versions, EOL/EOS risks, installation footprint, and remediation priorities across thousands of servers. The integration with Power BI and reporting capabilities enables data-driven decision-making, improves audit readiness, and helps us manage software lifecycle risk more effectively.

**What do you dislike about Flexera?**

What I dislike about Flexera is that inventory data can sometimes require additional validation before remediation activities begin. In large environments, teams may need to reconcile Flexera data with other sources such as CMDB, ServiceNow, or application-owner feedback to confirm software usage and ownership. Additionally, reporting and lifecycle data are powerful but can be complex for new users to interpret without familiarity with the platform and associated processes.

**Recommendations to others considering Flexera:**

I would recommend Flexera to organizations that need better visibility into their software estate, software lifecycle, and licensing compliance. The platform provides centralized inventory data, lifecycle intelligence, and reporting capabilities that help identify EOL/EOS software, reduce compliance risk, and support data-driven remediation planning. It is particularly valuable when integrated with governance, reporting, and IT asset management processes.

**What problems is Flexera solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Flexera provides visibility into software inventory, lifecycle status, licensing, and compliance across the enterprise. Specifically, it helps solve:
1. Lack of software visibility - Identifies what software is installed, where it is installed, and on which servers/endpoints.
2. End-of-Life (EOL) and End-of-Support (EOS) risk - Detects outdated or unsupported software so remediation teams can prioritize upgrades, removals, or risk treatment.
3. Software license compliance - Compares software usage against entitlements to reduce licensing and audit risk.
4. Shadow IT and unauthorized software - Identifies unapproved SaaS applications and unauthorized software usage across the environment.
5. Data-driven decision making - Supplies inventory and lifecycle data to Power BI dashboards, ServiceNow workflows, and governance processes.

For my team, Flexera benefits us with the below functions:
1. Faster identification of EOL software requiring action.
2. Accurate remediation planning through inventory discovery and lifecycle intelligence.
3. Reduced operational and audit risk by tracking unsupported software and compliance exposure.
4. Improved reporting and governance through integration with Power BI and ServiceNow.
5. Lower software costs by identifying unnecessary, duplicate, or unlicensed software usage.

  ### 20. Comprehensive Asset Management with Room for UI Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Flexera?**

I like that Flexera offers a centralized and trustworthy view of technology assets across my organization. It does an excellent job of consolidating data from multiple sources, normalizing it, and turning it into reports that support both operational and strategic decision-making. Additionally, the cost management capabilities provide greater transparency into spending, budgeting, and optimization opportunities, which is valuable for our team's operations.

**What do you dislike about Flexera?**

I would say that while the overall experience with Flexera is positive, there are a few areas where the platform could be improved. The user interface can be complex for many of our infrequent users, and some workflows have a learning curve before users can fully leverage the platform's capabilities. Simplifying navigation and making key reporting and analysis features more intuitive would help improve adoption across a broader audience. I would also like to see continued enhancements around automation integrations and self-service reporting as organizations like ours increasingly rely on IT management and governance tools, needing deeper integration and streamlined workflows.

**What problems is Flexera solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Flexera for IT asset management and visibility, consolidating data from multiple sources and improving decision-making. It addresses challenges in software asset management and governance, enhancing transparency in spending, budgeting, and optimization.

  ### 21. A Practical Tool for Managing Software Assets Effectively

**What do you like best about Flexera?**

Coverage is broad. Reports for VMware and soft vs hard partitioning make tricky scenarios more visible. The tool can connect purchases and contracts to consumption, so finance sees real exposure, not guesses.

Plan time for deployment, data hygiene, and validation against Oracle’s rules, especially in VMware and Java. Keep an eye on report logic and be ready to override or tune consumption when the real world does not match the default model. If your estate is very complex, budget for expert services during rollout.

It discovers Oracle installs and options, pulls usage, and builds audit-ready views so I can see where I am under- or over-licensed. That reduces surprise costs in audits and renewals. Flexera also includes VMware and partitioning reports that help estimate license exposure across clusters.
