## Flagsmith Reviews
 ### 1. Empowering Safe, Fast, and Controlled Feature Releases

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dan B. | Senior Full Stack Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

Unlike other providers, Flagsmith gives us the perfect balance of power and simplicity: enterprise-grade control without unnecessary complexity. It makes safe, targeted rollouts easy, gives our product and engineering teams the same clear view and adapts seamlessly to different environments. We found Flagsmith faster to integrate, more transparent, and better aligned with how our modern team want to ship features.

Flagsmith’s customer support has been excellent: responsive, knowledgeable and genuinely invested in our success. Compared to other providers, the team feels more like a partner than a vendor, helping us get up and running quickly and connected with us on Slack for technical support.

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

There’s very little to dislike - Flagsmith does what it promises really well. If anything, we’d love to see even more built-in analytics and experimentation features to extend beyond feature flags.

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Flagsmith helps us separate deployments from releases, so we can ship code safely and frequently without worrying about unfinished features going live. It reduces risk by letting us roll out new functionality gradually, starting with internal users before exposing it to customers. The platform also gives both product and engineering teams clear visibility into what’s toggled on or off, which improves alignment and speeds up decision-making. Overall, it’s made our releases faster, safer, and more customer-focused.

 ### 2. An efficient way to split your release from your deployment cycles

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Olivier H. | Board Member & JUG Leader, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

Flagsmith offers a clear UI that both technical and business user have no problem to understand.

Managing flags and integrating them in our workflow is straightforward and does not get in the way, without hiding everything behind dark magic.

Last but not least, its integration with the
OpenFeature standard give us great testing capabilities and reduce the fear of vendor locking

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

I wish the Jira integration would also work with on-prem instances

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Flagsmith offers a clear view on which features are active in which environments, which greatly simplify the deployment lifecycle and gives the business more confidence in the rollout of new features.

 ### 3. A Very Capable Flag Management Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

Flagsmith has been a remarkably easy to use and performant flagging solution for our enterprise. Not only does it have the segmentation capabilities that we were looking for, but it's auditing capabilities and its integration with downstream tooling has been extremely helpful. Additionally, thanks to its terraform drivers, we've been able to automate and manage through source control our configuration. Finally, the fact that it can be self-hosted means that we are able to meet our security requirements.

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

The only real disadadvantage we've run into so far is that there isn't an integration with JAM stack providers like Vercel. I suspect that in time, this will not be an issue.

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has improved deployment safety by allowing quick rollbacks and environment-specific configurations. For us, this streamlines e-commerce feature releases, improve experimentation capabilities, and, thanks to its self-hosted option, ensures security compliance.

 ### 4. Fast and effective

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel B. | Product Director, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

Take dev effort out of the process of rolling out your features to the right audiences

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

Having to use dev effort to clean up the code for the feature flag after releasing to all users

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fast go to market for user validation in production and pilot group feedback to strengthen the product

 ### 5. User Friendly UI and Features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Uday S. | Devops Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

Very easy to integrate
Easy to manage flags
Never had the issue with the downtime

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

initially we were not aware that feature specific segments count towards the total limit on the segment. Later Merged all related segments to be under limit

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Enabling Features per customer

 ### 6. Awesome Open Source Feature Flag Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

Nothing really, they had all functions we were looking for

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Minimize branching

 ### 8. Very complete feature flagging tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

Flagsmith is pretty simple to use, it has all the basics feature but also powerful enough segmentations, integration for clients is easy and does the trick. We are a small startup and we didn't have any limitation but I also worked in big orgs with not that powerful feature flagging systems where flagsmith could have been used instead.

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

The UI / dashboard is intuitive, perhaps I would like the environment to be merged so that you can create a flag and without switching around you decide the values for each environment.
the SDKs could be more complete, they are quite flexible as it only exposes the basics but sometime I wish we had a few-liner solution that takes care of caching and loading the flags without opening to mistakes.

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We mostly use flagsmith for continuous delivery, to turn off features that are in development and do incremntal rollouts

 ### 9. Flagsmith - The first name that comes to mind when on hearing about Feature Flags or A/B Testing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhishek A. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

Flagsmith has been an incredibly useful tool for me in the past year. I have used it for more than 5 projects of mine. The projects are based on different tech stacks like Java, Python, Go, JavaScript and the integration was extremely seamless. These are large size projects with multiple features.
The best part about it is the extremely low latency and high availability of the system. The local feature flag evaluation mode proved to be a game changer, allowing me to quickly check all feature flag values without any additional delay.

Flagsmith has made feature flagging and A/B testing mechanism so simple to implement that it is the first name which comes to my mind now when I hear about Feature flagging. They already support most of the programming languages and are building so many new integrations, that everytime you visit their website there is something or the other that's new.

The Flagsmith UI is also so easy to understand and get onboarded which makes it super convinient to use by both developers and non technical folks.

I would highly recommend everyone to use Flagsmith for their projects and save a lot of time.

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

Nothing at all, I love the way they are expanding and would love it see it growing always.

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Flagsmith has made feature toggling so easy to do that all my new feature rollouts are gated behind a Flagsmith Feature flag. The toggling is so easy to do that Product and Design team is independently able to play around with A/B testing and gather the metrics, reducing developer involvement further.
It helped me avoid the whole burden of setting up a new server to manage my application's feature flag configuration.

 ### 10. Great feature flag tool!

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2024

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

It is Open Source! Quick and easy to integrate, then all the powerful features come alive. Plus great support from the team.

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

Nothing, I really enjoy using it. Highly recommend.

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Decoupling release from deployment and allowing non coders to change text and public features.

 ### 11. Frictionless!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt W. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2024

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

The quick start guide, UI and library functionality works exactly as you would expect. I rolled my own feature flag systems in the past and now that Flagsmith exists as a mature product, there would never be a good reason to again!

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

Nothing so far - my current usage is fairly routine.

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Feature flag system that caches local state and integrates well with my choice of tech stack. Benefits me through a simple, discoverable UI and clear documentation.

 ### 12. A robust, affordable solution for remote config and feature flag /toggle!

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2024

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

Flexibility, ease of use, work-flows, organization

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

Feature / toggling and remote config and segmentation / AB testing

 ### 13. Giving DevOps power in hands of developer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pradumna S. | Open Source Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2023

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

I like how Flagsmith changes the game of testing things out, just like toggling a switch instead of going the complete DevOps route. With that, a developer can easily test features in production.

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

Nothing. The product is well-built and open for feedback

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I think a major benefit of Flagsmith is reducing the old tedious and time-consuming process of testing in production, which was highly dependent on roles like a DevOps engineer.

 ### 14. Best feature flagging tool!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

- We're able to test new features

- Test in production

- Building segments for new releases

 ### 15. Robust and very powerful open source tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Investment Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

I highly appreciate Flagsmith for its user-friendly interface, which allows for managing feature rollouts progressively and updating feature flags and configurations in real-time, eliminating the need for application redeployment. These capabilities are crucial for minimizing risks, saving time, enhancing team collaboration through integrations with popular tools, and ultimately, improving overall application performance. The fact that it's an open source tool is a bonus!

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

This is not a major issue, but while the documentation is thorough, there can be a bit of a learning curve for team members who are new to feature flagging. However, the Flagsmith team have been extremely helpful in helping navigate this

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Flagsmith helps us minimize release risks through progressive rollouts and A/B testing, speeding up our development and deployment process by allowing real-time management of feature flags and configurations. Its integrations with tools like Slack and Jira streamline our team communication and collaboration. Ultimately, it has made our development process more efficient, reduced release risks, and improved our product and user experience.

Have integration with everything i use in JS land and the live chat is always there for support.

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

There are some mismatching in the api documentation.

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Testing the perfomance possible solutions and providing some features only to specific users.

 ### 19. Simple, powerful feature flag tool that works out of the box

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

It's incredibly easy to add a new flag that immediately propagates across all of your environments. The identity and segment overrides work out of the box and their API latency + webhooks have made working with a third party have 0 risk to our customers.

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

There are some small improvements I'd make but overall it's great.
1. Deleting my identity overrides is a bit tedious - wish I could clear them all from a flag at once.
2. I'd love to provide flagsmith with my customer name to ID mapping - when I'm looking at a flag it's nice to see the customer names.

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When we roll out a new feature we rely on flagsmith to slowly enable it for new customers

 ### 20. Great feature flagging service!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vytautas B. | Co-Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

- Free tier (it's really important for me in the early stages, when I start generating revenue I wouldn't hesitate to switch to paid plan)
- Really nice React.js API, great examples to get you up to full speed
- Easy way to create and manage flags

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

Really minor, but it feels that UI could be a bit more compact to my liking

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hiding unfinished features from users, being able to test new features without impacting users

 ### 21. Great tool for continuous product rollout

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kelechi O. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2023

I use flagsmith for continous product rollout to my users. Very helpful and is much better than the traditional feature flagging methods

 ### 22. A great feature flag and remote config SAAS and open source software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Geshan M. | Lead Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2021

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

Flagsmith is an amazing product. It has a SAAS with a very generous free plan and an equally compelling open-source offering super useful for enterprises that need a feature flag software behind their own firewalls.

The user interface is good and the overall experience is great. The APIs for the SAAS respond very quickly and they have great uptime as well.

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

The user interface aspect of Flagsmith can be a bit better but it is not a blocker. For the features they already provide the user interface is not as smooth as it can be.

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Flagsmith helps us release software iteratively and behind feature flags. It has helped us manage important features easily with a gradual release that has delighted our customers while the risk we had was minimal to none.

 ### 23. The best way to handle feature flags and remote configuration for your app

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rudrank R. | Developer Relations Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

We've an iOS app that relies heavily on server-side configuration and handling an in-house service was a big pain. Fortunately, we got to know about Flagsmith that makes it a lot easier for us to handle powerful remote configurations. It is simple, reliable and helps to us get to the App Store faster as we don't have to worry about deploying the beta features anymore.

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

From our experience so far, we haven't come across anything to dislike. They can work a little on the iOS documentation, but it was straightforward to figure out nonetheless.

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We want to have a powerful mechanism for feature flags and remote configurations. The benefits has been uncomplicated deployment cycle with more confidence of toggling on/off new time-sensitive features.

 ### 24. Great feature flag service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mads M. | CTO, Co-founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

Basic feature flags are easy to implement yourself, but if you want all the bells and whistles, it actually ends up being a significant effort to get right. With flagsmith, you will have segments, A/B testing, integrations with analytics engines out of the box. The service is also very reliable, we have been using it for years and have never been affected by any outages.
The SDK are also very easy to work with, and in the few cases we have needed changes, the team have been open to accepting PRs.

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

We would really like a slack integration to get more visibility on when feature flags are flipped. Everything is of course stored in a log, but it might not be the first place you check when you start getting error reports.

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use flagsmith for all of our feature flag needs in our react and react-native applications. We have integrated flagsmith with our analytics provider, and use it for running A/B tests.

 ### 25. Everything you need and nothing you don't

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leo M. | Lead Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

- It's easy to use and has great UX. (Unlike Launch Darkly, for example, which requires training new users)
- Lots of supported clients
- Powerful segments so we can do A/B tests
- No hard API limits so you can scale smoothly
- Audit log to track who changed a flag and when

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

- You need to build your own realtime infrastructure if you want real time updates on the frontend.
- There is no visual difference between environments (development, production) so you need to double check you are in the right environment before switching on a flag.

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- A/B testing across the registration boundry.
- Some of these A/B tests resulted in much better conversion rates and product insights.
- Simple RBAC for previewing new changes in production before switching it on for everyone.
- This sped up our QA process and resulted in fewer bugs going out to users.

 ### 26. Easy setup and installation, but could do with better role / permission management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hugo B. | Lead Full-Stack Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2022

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

Installation, documentation, and easy navigation to see which features are enabled or disabled.

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

A higher user limit and permissions specification per project and environment. There could also be a friendlier way to pull down JSON feature data values.

**Recommendations to others considering Flagsmith:**

Ensure you understand when Flagsmith is invoked to avoid race conditions

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trunk-based development; we are able to release from the same branch whilst features are still in development. AB testing has also been useful.

 ### 27. Flagsmith Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raryson R. | Tech Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

I liked from an interface that we have to manage feature flags, the roles and groups that you can create and the all of integrations with we have to use flagsmith. Other thing that's coll is that you can open pull requeststo improve the clients. I have made this to improve node client to have typescript integration.

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

I don't have like the documentation and how hard it is to to to integrate and create feature flags via rest APIs. I think that flagsmith needs to improve this to only use one token to integrate with the the rest API. Also, segmentations and things like this are hard to use on web interface. Is hard to understand and explain the interface to nondevs people.

**Recommendations to others considering Flagsmith:**

Enhance documentation to have an easy link to swagger. Devs really like to swaggers and to know what they can do

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I try solve feature flags problems like active a entire feature for all customers. I dont have tried send traits to flagsmith. But i really like to have a grafic interface to send for my PMs and POs who feature flag is actived and who is not actived.

 ### 28. Flexible, simple, self-hosted

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pixel P. | C, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

Flagsmith is an open-source feature flags service. Because it's open-source you can easily install it within your infrastructure. It allows much more flexibility in terms of CI/CD integration and local development flows. Flagsmith covers all the necessary functionality we expected from this type of service.

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

I know that team has been working on edge deployment solution, so it's definitely will be a great feature to have.

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smooth and gradual features rollout. The main advantage is that you don't need to deploy everything simultaneously and to all users at once. You can enable features slowly, handling negative/positive feedbacks without overwhelming customer support.

 ### 29. Excellent free feature flagging product

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John G. | Joyful Programming Coach, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

Free and open source. Nice UI and has worked every time and been rock solid.

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

UI is a bit cluttered. It also persistently displays setup information long after I've set it up, so that can be quite annoying.

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Separating deploy from release. I've been able to test things behind feature flags and roll it out to more people.

 ### 30. Pretty on the point and easy to use.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2021

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

Its simplicity, easy to deploy and to use. And its flexibility we can add values on the flag and that's very helpful as well. The analytics will be an interesting thing also that we did not explore yet.

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

I haven't found official guides on how to backup flagsmith data and also upgrade it. FYI we are using the Docker deployment.

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Better delivery of new feature, we can deploy our application, and control finely the moment we release the new features. It forces us to make code more modular also which is great.
Also it's good way to have a rollback feature, in case a new experimental feature we try does not work as expected.

**What do you like best about Flagsmith?**

Flagsmith created a simple user expirience both in code and the interface

**What do you dislike about Flagsmith?**

Being a young company, some features are still changing and take time to mature.

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are controlling how new features are rolled out, both in test and production. Flagsmith also allows us to create special features for some customers without affecting the rest of our customers.

The admin panel is great and allowed our product managers to control user feature testers and our engineers to safely enable features.

I can't think of anything we dislike; we are looking forward to updates and new features.

**What problems is Flagsmith solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are now able to test features quickly against one more customer then and as a result, make more informed decisions.
