The upsides of Fivetran are that they have the provision to build pipelines for data extraction from heterogenous systems that is seamless and user friendly. Fivetran consulting takes care of the integration and maintenance which removes the hassle of onsite maintenance. They have a good customer support team that can answer questions in a timely manner. I like that it supports moving data from a legacy environment. It easily connects to our mainframe database and moves incremental data. When we needed support, we are able to get on a call and solve the issue. I like the number of available connectors, should we decide to utilize more data sources. Our challenge is that we have a cloud hosted mainframe database, we had an issue using the proxy version of the sync tool, and had to switch to a reverse SSH tunnel that requires a bit more work to set up an maintain. There have been cases where connectors have stopped working or not syncing and there is no update on the status page or in incident reports.
