## Fivetran Reviews
  ### 1. Good Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Overall, clean UI has helped to manage the data most conveniently and reliably. The tool efficiently handles the whole organisation's data easily without any problem, on top of everything the tool is easy to use and understand and to get started with.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

They should work on reducing runtime as runtime is something which we disliked. Also more integations should be there, rest everyhting works fine.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Handing Data with ease and to deliver to the applications running easily and efficiently in more secure way.

  ### 2. Seamless Ease & Excellent Visibility

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben E. | Director of Data Science, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

I've had a lot of bad experiences with "out of the box" data connectors so I began my relationship with Fivetran with a lot of skepticism. I have been blown away by every step of the process. The sales process was easy and accomodating, pricing was upfront and transparent. Setting up the connections to my data was so easy that I couldn't believe I'd done it correctly the first time. The visibility into the load, performance, and errors on my various connectors is also excellent and helps me stay on top of any issues that do crop up. I'm only scratching the surface of what FiveTran has to offer but so far I've been very pleased.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

So far I haven't had a single complaint.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As with most, our use with Fivetran is to move the data from the various tools we use into our data warehouse. In our case, we are taking data from things like Stripe, Hubspot, Facebook Ads, and on and on, and sending all of those various sources into Google BigQuery.

  ### 3. Data to the people

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Giovanni B. | Director of Customer Success & Sales Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

The ability to address my org's data needs with minimal involvement from engineering teams.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Not Census' fault, but the things that you can do (e.g. drive proactive alerting) are limited by your data structure (e.g. database is read only).

**Recommendations to others considering Fivetran:**

It is easy to try this tool before you buy. The value is inherently clear once you use the tool.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No functional leader ever has enough data. Census closes that gap by giving me the power to query, transform, and move that data to where it is most actionable.

  ### 4. Census implementation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Easy to use console, clear documentation.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

I haven't come across any areas I dislike at present.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data extraction from sales force to a cdp

  ### 5. Powerful and easy to use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pablo V. | Lead data scientist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Connections are easy to set up, data models and schemas are clear and nice to work with. Monitoring is also made easy. Replications are fast. So overall, very functionnal. We had a nice support experience during our pre-sale POC.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Pricing is high. It's not ideal to have to wonder about how adding a new connector of some schemas/tables can affect the cost dramatically the cost. Also, some connectors are missing. But so far we made it work alright.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Replicate data from different sources we have (saas tools we're using, databases etc.), and load them to our data warehouse from which we use dbt to transform them before visualization.

  ### 6. One of the highest-leverage tools you can add to your stack

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Owen M. | Marketing Operations Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Census allows users who are familiar with the data they need (whether you're formally a member of the data team or not!) to liberate it from their data warehouse and sync it to the tools that would benefit from it. As a marketing ops person, using Census means that it's *trivial* for me to add a customer's product-related activity data to Salesforce, calculate summary stats for Marketo, and much more. Just requires a little collaboration with our data team.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

The product is still in its pretty early stages, so the UI of Census needs a little more love. Examples of this include categorizing the various syncs you have on your dashboards, their reporting of alerts/errors, etc. That said, the Census team is extremely hungry for feedback and has actively made changes based on crowdsourced feedback (and occasionally from direct, specific feedback that I've offered about my own specific use-cases). Nonetheless, the value of Census is far worth any momentary confusion I encounter, or the occasional digging required to troubleshoot issues (which stem from our own data, rather than anything wrong with Census itself).

**Recommendations to others considering Fivetran:**

As with any tool like this, just make sure you have a decent foundation of data already in your systems, that's prepared to be sent to other systems (e.g. appropriate field types, etc). Otherwise, no cautionary tales.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prior to Census, we didn't have a great, non-Engineering-related way to sync data back to the SaaS tools that our business teams use. It meant that we only synced data to one tool – Salesforce – and making changes was cumbersome. Now we're syncing data to several places with intentions for more. We're able to operate at a much faster pace, and we're beginning to get more creative in our uses (e.g. moving some of our real-time automation in Salesforce into by-the-hour syncs via Census).

**Official Response from Katy Yuan:**

> Hey Owen, love your feedback and thanks for sharing the varied use cases Census helps you with!

  ### 7. Cool tool for syncing internal business data to external customer facing tools

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Census fills a really neat gap in our product cycle where we need to use our internal data to inform various customer-facing needs. Whether that's sending product emails or powering sales tools, Census does a great job of filling that gap

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

At times it can be hard to debug syncing issues. For whatever reason, every so often syncs fail but then auto-recover on their own. There is a lack of visibility of what's going on underneath the hood so that creates a lack of confidence in the stability of the tool

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem that it is solving is the transferring of internal data to other tools that the company uses. And instead of having to build custom tooling, Census is a flexible tool that we can leverage to meet various needs

  ### 8. Giorgi Sabadze

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Giorgi S. | Bi head, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Its easy to use and has a great user experience. Actually I find Fivetran the best online tool in relevant field.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Bunch if emails which spams my inbox all the time. ))

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Transfering data into postgres and also cool thing is that fivetran has a connector for zoho crm.

  ### 9. Good product for getting information from BI tools to marketing platforms

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James P. | Search Principal, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Simple and works like lots of marketing platforms

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Cant connect looker directly to census (requires snowflake)

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting first party data into marketing platforms

  ### 10. I really liked using Census. It helps provide scalability between dbt and Salesforce

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nika B. | Data analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Easy to use GUI.
I can easily transfer data between dbt and Salesforce and the whole company stays aligned

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

I wish the tool was a little cheaper so we could provide more licenses

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We always have up to date data in our salesforce which is great!!

  ### 11. Census has been a great reverse etl tool experience

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Census connects to our CDW and is great for our syncing our customer data

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

there has been no dislikes on my end with census

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

census helps create a source of truth for all of our data and has helped increase our data visibility

  ### 12. Reliable team and technology

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ethan L. | Associate Director of Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

The account teams are fantastic. They listen, are transparent, and genuinely want to help you succeed. Whether it's brainstorming with their product team to identify ways they can improve or giving feedback on beta releases, their team always takes time to listen and incorporate customer feedback.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

MAR has been a pain point for a while. We are not sure how to translate between rows to MAR to credits to dollars.

**Recommendations to others considering Fivetran:**

Look at the pricing model for the future state to ensure you don't need to migrate to a larger platform.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We do not need an engineering team building marketing data pipelines. The team is now free to transform and leverage the data vs fixing pipelines.

  ### 13. Good software but expensive compared to competitor like stitch

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Semiconductors | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

quality product, more solid than competitor's product

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

price, much much more expensive, and force customers to sync unnecessary tables that drives up the cost. stitch is much, much, cheaper when it works.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

sourcing data from various saas software without me handling all the api calls

  ### 14. Census is a no brainer - saves so much time & scales our team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

1. It brings data into tools with no engineering effort - which allows us to scale out our small team & bring the data to reps they need to do their jobs more effectively
2. It automates data pulls and processes we do daily/weekly/monthly for business operations which saves us a ton of time

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Nothing - its really intuitive to use. Only downside is you have to pay for the number of syncs you use so we have to track & optimize the ones we use vs being able to go unlimited

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need to get reps the data they need in the tools they're already working in. We want to be able to do that quickly & ideally without a big engineering lift. Census allows us to scale out these efforts quickly & easily.

**Official Response from Roslyn Coutinho:**

> Hi there, Thanks so much for sharing your review – we love hearing that Census helps you get data to your sales team without engineering requests. One small thing I wanted to clarify related to pricing is that Census charges on the number of destination fields, not the number of syncs, but I definitely still understand the sentiment. We check in regularly to make sure our pricing is the most competitive and value driven for our customers, and so we’ll definitely take that feedback into account. For some additional context, the reason we went with field based pricing is to ensure that the number of tools you sync to, the volume of rows synced, and the number of times you run a sync remains unlimited.

  ### 15. Well built and easy to implement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yannick G. | Head of Business Operations, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

The user experience for teams that are not specialized in data

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Mostly the pricing as Fivetran quickly becomes expensive for huge data sources like GA or Amplitude

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bringing data from a variety of sources into a single ware house

  ### 16. Great tool for reliable low-maintenance exports

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Set-up and forget, variety of available connectors

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Can be pricy, especially for small exports

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Exporting data to external vendors without the need to set up and manage our own ETL pipelines

  ### 17. Most Comprehensive ELT tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

The simplicity of adding connectors and start schedules is fantastic. The pricing model is easier to understand and reasonable. Dashboards to monitor MAR usage across connectors and accounts help us keep the bills in check. The in-built SQL editor is my most used component.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

The built-in SQL editor is not the best (small window to code), perhaps because you are deprecating it in 2023.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integrating data from multiple sources helps us to have a consolidated view.

  ### 18. The service census provides is great and the customer support is responsive and great

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

The service itself. We don't need to integrate with 3rd party by ourselves. save eng resources.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

There's still some glitch for some integration. But the customer support is very helpful

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the problem of integrating with different marketing and sales tools. We save eng resources of integrating those APIs by ourselves

  ### 19. Census is great when we want to sync the data to our salesforce org from different application.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anoop V. | Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

The connection is easy to use. With 3 clicks we can easily connect to salesforce.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

when we add a new field mapping and if we try to sync next day, the changes are not saved. But when we do the sync during the same day, we dont see any issues.Hard to find the logs.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data sync timing is reduced with Redshift to salesforce. Before it was taking 4 hrs to sync data but it reduced to 15 min now.

  ### 20. great product

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joanne L. | analytics engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

easy to use. nice integration. straight forward UI design

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

not sure. it works for fine me and my team.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

pushing and syncing data from our data warehouse to different applications

  ### 21. Using Census on a daily bases

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2023

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Helps a lot to sync the data from our data warehouse to other essential platforms.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Haven't faced yet with any drawbacks. Everything seems to work fine

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With it's help, we are able to sync the data to other platforms, which teams use everyday

  ### 22. I wish Census had existed years ago

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Census just works. It's so simple to create a new sync that we're don't need to rely on data engineers to start moving data to the tools used by other teams: Salesforce, Hubspot, Google Sheets...

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

We're missing a sandbox environment, where we can create and test syncs without actually updating the data in the platform. A sandbox mode would be great to isolate environments effectively in our data stack.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to send data to the tools used by other teams with a very low effort. As a data engineer, in the past, I had to create custom scripts to sync tables in our data warehouse with our CRM, and now it just takes 5 minutes to start sending data to other platforms. We don't need to care about state management, breaking changes in the APIs, maintaining custom scripts...That's saving our team a lot of time.

**Official Response from Roslyn Coutinho:**

> Glad to hear we're saving valuable engineering time! Thanks for sharing such insightful feedback regarding a sandbox environment. Enabling a more seamless DataOps workflow is on our roadmap, and version control and environments is very much top of that list.

  ### 23. Very easy to use and very useful to automate and avoid unnecessary repetitive work

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Using the tool to automate processes and avoid unnecessary work by making things very efficient thru queries and scheduled runs

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Tool is easy to use when you get the hang of it, but maybe would make a quick runthru tool to make sure you know what to use while onboarding

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automating processes that would otherwise require a whole team to stay on top of and manage

  ### 24. Easy to use for nontechnical people

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Has a lot of integrated sources and destinations

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

The connection to apple store is not the best, but I think it is from apple side.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Connect our marketing and sales data to our DWH.

  ### 25. Amazing tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Virginia L. | Data engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Very easy to used, my team really likes it

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

I don't think that Census have anything bad

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Synchronising the data with our analytics tools

  ### 26. All I need to push data from my DWH back to CRM

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jure K. | Business Intelligence Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Easy use, good overview, lots of connectors...

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Could use more sync fields in the lower packages...

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting important data and calculations from our DWH into our CRM.

  ### 27. Redefining Data Synchronization

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

The best thing about Census is that it helps in managing data on the client side and using the same data for synchronizing across different platforms using integrations. The best thing is that data is being managed on a single side.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Sometimes is it not easy to use as it involves setting up integration and establishing database connections. It can be enhanced by working on a better API integration setup.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The major problem is often with managing the database and synchronizing it across other platforms. It not only enables data synchronization but also ensures data security. Moreover, data sync scheduling is also the best feature that actually helps in setting up campaigns on Facebook and Linkedin.

  ### 28. Reduces the workload of a small team & good customer support while onboarding

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Easy to use. Good documentation. Good Customer Support. Exhaustive.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Expensive. Needs work for more complex data sources. Doesnt pull all data from sources such as Drip & Intercom

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data extraction from varied number of sources

  ### 29. With Census, our entire team has access to the right data in the tool they are using

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ophely N. | Co-founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

The quick onboarding and the integrations

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Everything is working so well and they are the only major player on the market

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Access to the right data in the right format to make decisions

  ### 30. FiveTran Gets it Done

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Human Resources | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

FiveTran isn't perfect, and we had some concerns about their pricing model -- but DAMN does it work really well. It took us about 30 minutes to configure everything and have data replicating from source system to data warehouse. Well worth the cost.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Pricing model gives me some pause, and I don't like that there is an upcharge to version data (e.g. store different permutations of rows as data changes... but again it's worth it).

**Recommendations to others considering Fivetran:**

Make sure to re-evaluate and investigate other vendors (e.g. AirByte), but if you need to move quickly and can afford it, Fivetran is best in class.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Replicating data from source systems to data warehouse. This helps our small team focus on modeling data and driving business value rather than on extracting and loading data.

  ### 31. Phenomenal Product

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

The best part about Census is it allows us to send data from our warehouse back into data sources such as Salesforce and Intercom. Additionally, it has the capabilities to use data models to drive slack alerts.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

The one function that doesn't exist yet is direct messaging someone in slack. Right now you can only sync data into a slack channel. It'd be great to have the ability to direct message, someone, from slack via Census

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have solved a variety of problems, the biggest being helping operationalize our data and give it to employees that can quickly take action on it. Additionally we have enhanced our salesforce environment with custom metrics and KPIs from data in our warehouse.

**Official Response from Roslyn Coutinho:**

> Hi there, thanks for taking the time to share your review. We have some exciting improvements to our Slack integration on the roadmap – so watch this space!

  ### 32. Census for data-driven sales team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Census is a great tool to operationalize the data warehouse data. Our main use case was sending data to salesforce.
Easy to setup, use, create syncs, trigger syncs with dbt cloud!
Syncs are much faster and reliable than the alternative tools I've tried.

Great support team, always timely with their answers.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Some features I would suggest:
1. Being able to change the dbt model of an existing sync.
2. Improvements on Amplitude sync to be more flexible
3. Admin controls

I would also suggest having a user generated content on how users use census and how they solve challenges. Sharing best practices would also go a long way, specially during onboarding phase.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our use cases are mainly sales analytics and behavioral analytics. We are using census to sync data to Salesforce and Amplitude. Our use cases may grow to also include marketing automations

**Official Response from Katy Yuan:**

> Hi there, amazing to hear that Census is faster and more reliable than the other alternatives you tried. We're working on everything you suggested so stay tuned for big improvements!

  ### 33. A fantastic tool that is only getting better

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew C. | Analytics Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Census allows us to quickly and securely sync bespoke audiences with our third party marketing tools, such as Braze, Google Ads and Facebook. While Census itself is fantastic, what sets this product apart is the team behind it. They are highly responsive to service inquiries and are always receptive to feature requests that meet the demands of our growing business.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Census has some work to do before it becomes a mature product. Technical issues impacting syncs are more frequent than ideal, though these are typically resolved quickly. Some of our third party marketing tools charge us for the volume of data we send. Census occasionlly struggles to find the right balance between economically processing updates with sync speed.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Census allows us to have one centralized platform for sending company data outside the organization to our third-party providers. This eliminates the need to interact with multiple different systems, which is ideal from both an efficiency and security perspective.

**Official Response from Katy Yuan:**

> Hey Matthew, appreciate the shoutout for our product & success teams! We're grateful for customers like you who help us grow and improve :)

  ### 34. Census review

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

The ability to automatically sync audiences is a big win for us.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

No downsides so far. A small annoyance from a marketing perspective is the term "reverse ETL." For me, that term comes off as a buzzword in a field that is already bogged down by buzzwords.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Census is helping us to gather insights across multiple ad platforms.

  ### 35. A very valuable, resilient, and flexible Reverse ETL Tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Photography | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Census supports more integration destinations than I've seen in the market, and their team is always open to feedback on connector improvements and additions to their suite.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

The pricing structure has been difficult to navigate at times. Depending on the destination, its addition can have a very large impact to cost (ex. Netsuite, SalesForce).

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Census to push customer data down to a variety of tools from our enterprise data warehouse. This includes tools such as SalesForce Marketing Cloud, and Zendesk. Additionally, upon signing with Census, they partnered with us to develop a Pendo connector, which we still use today.

  ### 36. Census is a great tool for the modern stack

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Simple, easy to use, and straightforward interface

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

End users have troubles defining segments

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Loading data from a central data warehouse to an external tool such as Salesforce

  ### 37. Make reverse ETL easier to maintain and enable non-engs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Frances F. | Senior Data Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Census UI is clean and user-friendly. Non-engineers can config the connections, edit mappings and check the status of syncs. It also makes reverse ETL (multiple destinations) easier to maintain for the data eng team.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

I asked Census about connector supporting Mixpanel lookup table a while ago and it is live now! So please developing more connectors and more supported objects.
Role based permission managment is also needed. For example, admin is able to create and config source and destinations, while basic user can only edit mappings/schedule in syncs, etc..

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used to develop reverse ETL system with Python and Airflow for destinations like Eloqua, Mixpanel, Braze, Intercom, and Salesforce. Every destination requires different data types, formats, rate limits, and API requests. Census sets me from maintaining my custom code, so I can spend more time to optimize the system itself. The user-friendly UI enables non-engineers and stakeholders to adjust columns, mappings, and schedules. They can check the status of syncs anytime they want; they no longer need to ask if the data was synced successfully and when was the last sync.

**Official Response from Katy Yuan:**

> Hey Frances, love how you're enabling both data and ops teams with Census, and syncing to so many different tools. We're working on role-based access controls and will continue to develop cool new integrations.

  ### 38. Great Reverse ETL Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Easy to use and works with dbt! We love it for getting data into google sheets out of our snowflake database. Its also great for getting data into google ads or hubspot/salesforce.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Nothing to complain about! They initially didn't have an airtable connection - but it appears they have that now. Will be going back and checking that out soon!

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Avoiding having to write ETL with talend or manually writings jobs to get data out of our database(s) and into various cloud based platforms and apps. Using Census is about 10x faster that the traditional methods.

  ### 39. Census Review!!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Piyush C. | Software engineer , Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Some incredible features I would like to mention are,

1. With Census sharing data is very easy.
2. Census is the best tool for the data team, it is very optimized!
3. Good support team!

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Overall, there aren't any big issues with Census, but few things which can be improved are:

1. Slack integration can be improved, for example- sending DM's.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Many things have improved in our day-to-day routine, like sending data to tools such as Salesforce is a lot quicker.

**Official Response from Roslyn Coutinho:**

> Hi Piyush, thanks for your feedback. We have some exciting improvements coming to our Slack integration soon, so watch this space!

  ### 40. Fivetran is the best ETL in the industry. No questions!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kaleb B. | marketing engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

The ease of use and dashboard
The support team
The documentation

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Pricing model can be a bit confusing and hard to understand

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping us solve our entire data ingestion stack

  ### 41. Great tool for connecting warehouse to other tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Really easy setup Census and they have great customer support. Whenever I've had a problem, they have managed to resolve my problem promptly and efficiently. I'd recommend Census to a friend.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Their new jump in pricing was a surprise to us.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Moving data from our Snowflake warehouse to our other tools such as Hubspot. This helps create a singular source of truth across all of our business units. The logs and alerting are also really helpful

  ### 42. Functional tool and great support, but mediocre docs

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Fivetran is easily one of the most robust ETL platforms I've seen and I was tasked with vetting quite a few of them when looking for extraction solutions. They offer a wide variety of data sources and destinations, covering a broader range of integrations that are relevant to our business than many competitors. They are also one of the few providers I've seen that have a decently functional web interface with comparable API capabilities. We use Powered by Fivetran, which enables us to extract data on behalf of clients without storing credentials or creating apps on our end, which is not a use case many providers support. The overall user and developer experiences for authorization via Fivetran are also fairly seamless.

One of the best parts of Fivetran is their support system. My perspective may be biased since my company is on a plan with priority support, but my team has submitted quite a few support tickets and our experience with Fivetran has consistently been far better than our experience with other third-party providers (and we pay for premium support for most partners who offer it). With other partners, we typically run into issues where the first response to a ticket is unhelpful, as lower-level support folks tend to not have the answers we need (or sometimes will provide us with incorrect answers) and we usually have to wait for a ticket to be escalated at least once or twice before we have any resolution. However, most of our Fivetran inquiries and issues have been resolved within 1 or 2 responses, and the level of detail provided is top-notch!

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Fivetran's documentation is organized in a more intuitive way than that of most software companies, but like many others, the documentation falls out of date quickly and contradicts itself in many locations. Documentation maintenance is difficult, especially when there is so much of it to manage, but we've had several issues where key details are either missing or incorrect (e.g. incorrect connector configs in their API docs, missing data sources on their list of priority-first syncs). The caveat to this is that their support system is great, so we've never had trouble receiving timely responses when we reach out about the discrepancies, but it would be nice to not have to reach out for such trivial questions.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My company aggregates data from a broad range of data sources and the parts of the integration process that continually proves to be the hardest are authentication and extraction. We don't use Fivetran for transformation, but Powered by Fivetran has allowed us to integrate quickly by eliminating the need to develop apps, build auth flows, and automate API calls.

  ### 43. Census is a very powerful tool that operates in a very unique space.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Networking | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Serves as a key component of the modern data structure, by minimizing data silos and enabling your warehouse as your single source of truth for your data. Census allows customers to leverage their data and activate it in downstream tools.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Must be paired with a variety of other tools. Although the value of Census is clear at the moment, if the rETL feature is embedded in other tools moving forward, Census may lose its place in the market.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Moving data via reverse ETL. Activation of warehouse data in downstream tools. Our customers need Census to activate their warehouse data in downstream destinations.

  ### 44. most reliable, low-lift solution to data ingestion

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

The product is clean and straightforward to use. Other folks at my company had never used Fivetran before and were able to get their connectors up and running within 15 mins. We are a very small data team relative to the size of our company and having a product that we can essentially set up and not give another thought to has been a gamechanger. Fivetran simply does what I need it to do and my CSM has been super-responsive and helpful whenever I need some additional support.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Fivetran has a heftier price tag than the other products in the ELT space. I would like the integrations with dbt to be stronger and more robust (I think this is in the roadmap). I think it would be useful to have more detailed dbt run logs, for dbt run pricing model to better match how users actually use dbt (don't penalize for using high # of modular dbt models). I would find it immensely helpful if Fivetran produced more content on getting everything we need out of the Fivetran-dbt integration: how-to blogs or follow-along videos for leveraging Fivetran's pre-built models, implementing good CI/CD, etc.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a small data team, we need to be able to surface the high-level KPIs and metrics that company leaders need - and we need to do it in a way that's both scalable and flexible. Fivetran frees up our time to build data products with our data, and not have to sink any time in to getting our data to some place we can work with it.

  ### 45. A very easy-to-use interface for your data pipeline needs

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David K. | Data Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

I use the service for putting data into Salseforce. It is very easy to use and provides an excellent messaging service when there are errors in the data transfer. This is very useful for debugging.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

The per field billing option is not the best for us given we have a low number of rows, however, every company needs a billing model of some kind. Other than this I have no other complaints.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

pumping data into Salesforce. This saves on the task of writing and maintaining this pipeline ourselves. This is from out data warehouse BigQuery. I have no other uses at current.

**Official Response from Roslyn Coutinho:**

> Hi David, really appreciate you sharing your feedback, and glad you're enjoying our observability features. As you alluded to, choosing a pricing model is hard :) but we check in regularly to make sure our pricing delivers the most value for our customers, so we’ll definitely take your feedback into account.

  ### 46. Great user experience and support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cecil A. | Analytics Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

The user interface is so intuitive and the docs are helpful.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

The recovery can be dangerous if you don't sync properly

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can centralize data from all my tools and then push to my systems.

  ### 47. Amazing tool fits in very well for our use cases

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Foram G. | Business Intelligence Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

The UI is super simple to use and navigate around very easy to test

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

I would like to see some feature upgrades but there is nothing I dislike about it

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Census is helping us with our marketing data sync - Forget me request automation, updating auduiences in Mailchimp

  ### 48. Most powerful tool in our Stack

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff R. | GTM Operations Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

The ease of use, the number of connections, and just the overall optimized experience. We use this with Snowflake, Salesforce, and every other tool in our GTM stack.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Not a single thing about it, they are constantly improving how the tool works and implementing new features consistently to make it an even better experience. 100/10 - total fanboy

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ensuring data consistency across all systems, creating automations outside of applications like Salesforce to improve speed and efficiancy, as well as leveraging the write-back ability from to do things that are traditionally not possible with in-app solutions.

**Official Response from Katy Yuan:**

> Hey Jeff, LOVE that you're starting the Census fan club! We're happy to have amazing customers like you.

  ### 49. Great tool for analytics engineers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth Y. | Analytics Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

The ease of setting up syncs and scheduling them.

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

Looking for historical logs of the syncs.

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had issues managing and pushing data into our multiple systems. Census helped us solve this with ease.

  ### 50. Gets your data where you need it!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2022

**What do you like best about Fivetran?**

Census allows us enormous flexibility with our data. We aren't wedded to doing everything in salesforce (and therefore restricted by salesforce's limitations).

**What do you dislike about Fivetran?**

I just wish Census integrated with everything!

**What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Census allows us to bring the valuable insights from our BI tool back into Salesforce, so we can use Redshift as our source of truth.
