Easy Setup, but Far Too Expensive **Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Evan K. | Founder/CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2026 **What do you like best about Fivetran?** EDIT: I spoke with their product success team post-review and they genuinely did try to solve my problem, but they confirmed we were using the product correctly. For event based systems like ours at Potions (we're an email product, kind of like Mailchimp on auto-pilot) we emit a lot of "small" event data like opens/clicks, and that tends to eat up MARs pretty fast. Better to build the solution in-house in these cases. Fivetran is probably better for lower volume/larger row data. Their pricing hits an interesting "logarithmic curve" that we seemed to be nearing the peak of. I'd imagine folks with more volume & revenue than us might be fine using it, so I'm bumping my review to a 4. **What do you dislike about Fivetran?** I still think small company pricing should be a lottttt more generous at our data volume; this has gotta be a rounding error of volume for you guys :( **What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?** ETL!!! Reduce engineering part of data projects. **What do you dislike about Fivetran?** Slow response on incidents, we used to got more than 2 weeks downtime of Facebook pages connectors and Fivetran refused all responsibilities. They mostly stop supportive response after signing anual contract. **What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?** Pre-built connectors help us to push up the data extraction process ### 4. The platform is well organized and integrates well across systems. **What do you dislike about Fivetran?** Our relationship with Census has been a bit all over the place. Our initial purchase went well, but at renewal we faced challenges with increased pricing even when requesting to stay on the same plan. Communications flopped going through Vendr and we were left to try to get the price within budget at last minute which involved a call with a manager who was rude and condescending. We did decide to renew to avoid the trouble of switching, and upon adding onto our contract we had easy and quick negotiations so perhaps it all just depends on who you're dealing with or whether you're using Vendr. We're hoping for a smooth renewal next time now that both sides have learned how to communicate and reach an agreement.The product is good and if the situational renewal was a one-off, I would recommend working with Census. **What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed to be able to move product data into our marketing and sales systems so that we could better target and hunt for accounts. **Official Response from Roslyn Coutinho:** > Love hearing the impact Census is having on your company, and thanks for referring us to other RevOps teams! Making Census more user friendly for non-SQL users is definitely something we're striving for. Our point and click audience builder, Census Segments, was the first step here, and there's definitely more in the works. Also really appreciate you sharing the feedback on field update logic, I’ll pass that on to our product team – they’re always looking to make continuous improvements to the sync experience. Also, I would like better alerting features like PagerDuty integration **What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?** Sync of data from Snowflake to Airtable ### 6. Straightforward integrations but support is terrible, business model and pricing are terrible **Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2021 **What do you like best about Fivetran?** Variety of connectors, ease of setup, no need to write code for many integrations **What do you dislike about Fivetran?** A simple Google Play Store sync can cost nearly 1000 USD a month. It's not even possible to select specific tables/collections to be synced in most connectors - by design. Support is barely existent and almost 100% based on India so expect only automated or standard answers. Billing is very controversial and shady. Hard to recommend at this point. Fivetran now caters basically to huge organizations willing to spend five digits a month in ELT on the top-tier plan. **Recommendations to others considering Fivetran:** Do not waste your time on the free trial. What happens after is only bad experiences. **What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?** Fivetran aims to reduce the need to develop and maintain multiple integrations from many kinds of SaaS to Google BigQuery, Amazon Redshift, Snowflake. In my experience, we haven't realized many benefits due to the shady pricing model and non-existent support. ### 7. We had a great time getting to work with Fivetran, and they were very smooth in demo-ing the tool, showing us how to get the information we needed. They also helped us figure out a price point and solution that made sense for our business needs and we were able to negotiate a deal that worked for both parties! Since switching over to Fivetran from our previous ETL provider, we've noticed that the data is faster and more accurate. All of our users have been extremely grateful for Fivetran because it gave us reliable access to a dataset that we otherwise would not be able to extract data from, which has been highly crucial to success. **What do you dislike about Fivetran?** Unfortunately, while I love most of the features of Fivetran and am very grateful that we were able to use it for extracting Facebook Business Manager statistics, one area where we could see improvement is customization. There are canned reports that we have to use, even if we're only using one of the 70 fields available. As a result, we are needlessly spending money on information that is not being used. It would be great to have a feature that allows for customization that we need in order to reduce costs **What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?** Fivetran is helping us bring our facebook data into Looker, our business intelligence tool, which is essential for use across many teams. This data is used by almost 100 people and is instrumental in making key business decisions. We are so grateful for Fivetran and especially loved how easy it was to set up! ### 8. The UI is intuitive and friendly. Support has been good. **What do you dislike about Fivetran?** It's expensive for what it offers, especially with other solutions around. We also had some connectivity interruptions. We had cost surprises, and the team has not been flexible in resolving those. Sales reps are on aggressive targets. As a result, we are moving away to other connectors. **Recommendations to others considering Fivetran:** Estimate your usage, so you don't encounter surprises. **What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?** Connecting ad platforms and analytics to our Snowflake database. ### 9. Good variety of connectors - Lacks on scalability and Customer Support **Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Hardware | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2020 **What do you like best about Fivetran?** - Easy to set up and configure - Great support when it comes to setting up connectors - Good choice of connectors - For the connectors where it works, Fivetran performs very well **What do you dislike about Fivetran?** - Fivetran is not scalable for large datasets, when it comes to binary log syncs. We have run into problems from day 1, as we have 100s of GB worth data to be synced from a single connector everyday. It has been over a month since the issue was first identified on Fivetran's end but there is no resolution in sight or even a timeline to resolve the issue. - Fivetran's customer support is not very helpful as you have to constantly reach out to them for updates. On occasions, it takes them days to reply on threads or provide plausible updates. - Fivetran sales team provided great support for 15 days before purchasing the product. But once the contract was signed that level of support was no where to be found. Customer support is an essential service when buying into ingestion tools, especially at the premium price of Fivetran. But Fivetran fails to follow-through on scalability and customer support, from our experience. **Recommendations to others considering Fivetran:** Fivetran provides a 15 day pilot period, where you can use the tool for free and evaluate the tool for your needs. I would say evaluate your data source connectors thoroughly before purchasing Fivetran. We did not connect our live database due to security reasons, before purchasing Fivetran. But it turned out to be a mistake as Fivetran has failed to perform well on one of our production source. **What problems is Fivetran solving and how is that benefiting you?** - We are trying to bring in data from multiple sources and build a central data repository. Fivetran has helped with easy setup on data ingestion and that has saved time for us in terms of building different data connectors in house. ### 10. Graphical interface makes synching easy. **What do you dislike about Fivetran?** You aren't completely in control. Fivetran is a black box, and when there is a problem, it's really difficult to diagnose.
