It's very user friendly. There are multiple shortcuts within fishbowl that you can use to do the same tasks. The support team is awesome and has always been able to assist with any issues we have. The program has multiple add ins that make working with other programs easy. We use this program everyday, and all day to look up inventory and to make sales to customers. The initital setup and learning curve for some of the employees is a bit time consuming, but ultimately becomes easy to use with practice. Fishbowl updates more than what seems necessary, and it doesn't always reconnect with our accounting software. We sometimes have to bring in our IT redepartment to correct the issue on our server. There is no way to see what has been deleted, and setting seperate program permissions for each user is kind of tricky and time consuming. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As a small, independent distributor, it can be difficult to find an ERP system with the capabilities I need, at a cost that fits my company. FishBowl can handle all the complexities of multi-location inventory management, purchasing, receiving, front-counter sales, drop-ship sales, COD and account sales, and the significantly complex pricing structures at Cupertino Supply. FishBowl isn't perfect. There are still issues that seem simple to solve, but remain in each new release. The most significant is FishBowl's inability to set a QuickBooks invoice to "to be emailed" status or "to be printed" status based on a customer preference. This is fundamental in every ERP system, but remains a gaping hole in the FishBowl product. As a result, I still use a third-party plug-in to set invoice delivery according to customer preference. For the price, Fishbowl Inventory is a powerful platform that is able to handle our large SKU list and part tracking in a rather complex use case. There is an easy workflow and the tech support team, while overwhelmed with calls, are incredibly friendly and helpful whenever we have an issue that we can't solve internally. There are a number of programing quirks and bugs that require figuring out workarounds for our day-to-day operations. Integration with different platforms (Avalara, Salesforce, Quickbooks Online, etc) are available, but mapping capabilities vary drastically from platform to platform, and are severely limited in many cases. It can take a lot to get the job done. Nothing is streamlined. There are parts and products that are linked together yet two separate things to set up and edit. If you don’t have manufacturing though it is 100% pointless to have both and makes a huge hassle to create or update parts.

Imports and exports are far more complex than they should be and end up having limited capabilities. Documentation on them is not great.

Printing barcodes directly from the software does not work. You have to export a pdf and print via Adobe or some other software. If you print a lot of barcodes, it is a huge hassle.

If you edit a part’s details it doesn't update the part on the SO or PO. Notes from parts made on an SO don’t transfer to a pick slip and likewise notes on a PO don’t transfer to receiving meaning the warehouse cannot see if a salesperson put notes on any line items without having to check the SO or PO.

They seem to nickel and dime you to death.

Support is mediocre.

You have to bounce all over the place to get anything done. You can’t click on a part to view, edit and move inventory. You can click on a part in one module to view and edit part details, but you must go to another module to update quantities or move. In the mobile app you can’t decide to “move all” inventory. You have to go to one module to see how much of the product you have, remember that number then go to another module to move from one location to another (if you don’t happen to have barcodes or both barcodes are not right next to each other, this will be a bunch of button clicking and typing) then you have to enter the quantity to move. If I’m in the part module looking at the quantity and location of a part why do I need to go to another module to select the quantity and location to move from? I still don't know a lot of the basics. Now that I have 6 months of history I still can't figure out an easy way to make an order.

While I don't use Fishbowl in the typical sense, managing this software is straightforward. There is a detailed knowledgebase available online, it's easy to work with support for anything beyond that. The server side of the application is easy to get started and backup/restore is quick. Customer support queues on the phone often take up to 2 hours before reaching someone. You can usually reach support in the mornings a bit quicker but after that it's a slog. The server software DOES require to have a user stay signed into the server (locked is fine).
