As generative AI adoption outpaces most security programs, workers routinely paste source code, customer records, financial data and confidential documents into consumer chatbots, and coding agents connect to tools and data through MCP servers, plugins and skills that nobody has reviewed — a phenomenon known as shadow AI. Firstier surfaces that activity and brings it under policy, especially for companies that do not have a dedicated security team. The platform discovers which AI applications and agents are actually in use across the organization — tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek and Microsoft Copilot, and coding agents such as Claude Code and Codex together with their MCP servers, plugins and skills — in the browser (Chrome, Edge and Firefox on Windows, macOS and Linux), on the desktop through a native agent, and on mobile. It detects when sensitive data such as personal data (PII), financial information, source code or credentials is entered into an AI tool, and records each interaction as an auditable event. Security and compliance teams define usage policies per AI tool, extension and data type, approve or restrict MCP servers, plugins and skills, and choose how each policy is enforced — from silent monitoring to warning the user, masking content, blocking an action, or restricting access to a tool entirely. Because enforcement happens in real time at the point of use, sensitive data stays out of unsanctioned AI services without banning AI outright or treating employees as adversaries. Firstier includes a browser extension (Shield Web), a desktop agent (Shield Desktop), mobile coverage (Shield Mobile) and a central administration console (Shield Control), with SSO/SCIM, group-based policies, SIEM/SOAR/ITSM/GRC integrations and EU data residency. Built-in employee notice and consent controls and a complete audit trail help organizations demonstrate compliance with the EU AI Act, the GDPR, ISO/IEC 42001 and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework.
