## First Resonance ION Factory OS Reviews
  ### 1. ION: The Swiss Army Knife of Manufacturing Software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Aviation & Aerospace | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2025

**What do you like best about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

ION is an intuitive manufacturing tool with features that go far beyond those of a standard MES system. It truly feels like a Swiss army knife for manufacturing needs. The software is ready to use straight out of the box and is straightforward to implement and configure. We were able to tailor the tool to our business requirements in under two months. Additionally, customer support was always accessible and played a key role in enabling the configuration process. ION's open API is easy to work with, allowing users to build apps and dashboards on top of the ION platform to fill any gaps that are present.

**What do you dislike about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

ION is still in development. In the past, they have struggled to deliver updates and changes promptly, largely because of the technical debt that has accumulated in ION's codebase over the years. This has often forced customers to implement temporary fixes to manage these issues. Recently, First Resonance has updated their code to be more modular, which should make future updates and changes more time efficient.

**What problems is First Resonance ION Factory OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

First Resonance ION addresses the challenge of simplifying the inherently complex world of manufacturing, making processes more accessible and intuitive. It enables a digital thread that connects procurement, manufacturing, and maintenance, streamlining operations across the board. This is a remarkably powerful tool that offers a wealth of functionality right out of the box.

  ### 2. Highly Functional, Highly Compatible MES Capabilities

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jared E. | Senior Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2024

**What do you like best about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

ION is user-friendly, easy to implement, and easy to customize. First Resonance provides insightful, helpful, and easily accessible customer support both on-site and remotely. Based on feedback from the First Resonance team, ION can be integrated with many ERPs/PLMs and is only constrained by the API availability of the other systems.

**What do you dislike about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

As with all production systems, there are always quirks to discover and navigate. First Resonance's great customer support makes navigating and overcoming issues extremely easy.

**What problems is First Resonance ION Factory OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Component and product traceability, manufacturing execution and statistical process control.

  ### 3. Data friendly platform

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thomas K. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2023

**What do you like best about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

ION has some great functionalities with being able to access real time data the moment it happens. This is really nice to be able to cath issues as they are happening on the floor. The new rules functnality is also great where our production team can make sure the ABOM is 100% before a run is closed. We are only touching the surface with the rules engine, but its very exicting for our future imoprovements and customizibility.

**What do you dislike about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

One feature that could be improved is the part history, this feature is very slow and if it has a lot of transaction, will be very slow to load. Another feature that would be if improved is the amount of items you can put in an ABOM. When we want to put over 300+ items in an ABOM, it becomes very slow.

**What problems is First Resonance ION Factory OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ION is allowing me access all the data realetd to our manufacturing process. I can do anlysis of how much we build everyday, what issues are related to each build and create dashboards for our leadership to make smart decisons for our company. ION also allows me to craete thorough work instructions for our assembly technicians and ION allows those technicians to give me any feedback on the procedures

  ### 4. A good start but work needed to be great

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Industrial Automation | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2024

**What do you like best about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

I like the way I can track serialized hardware and assemblies

**What do you dislike about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

UI is clunky and slow. Sometimes errors out after I've already submitted information or made changes. Filtering and browsing feels slow and like it's not indexing what should be a simple database.

**What problems is First Resonance ION Factory OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping us track the location and hierarchy of our parts as they move around the lab.

  ### 5. Overall Good Product

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Aviation & Aerospace | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2024

**What do you like best about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

The overall functionallity serves us well for inventory tracking and production milestones.

**What do you dislike about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

The UI could still use work, it has a tendency to lag, and it has previously deleted recorded data. The ability to backup the data to internal servers to prevent this would be helpful.

**What problems is First Resonance ION Factory OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is our MES for all production work.

  ### 6. Flexible enough to build out the features that have yet to be implimented

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew K. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2023

**What do you like best about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

ION is built with automation and customizability from the foundation onwards.

First Resonance goes out of their way to let (and activley encourage) you "peek behind the magic curtain". Because of this philosofy it is very quick and easy to spin up custom automation and software solutions for specific needs. Literally anything that can be done through the ION UI can be done using a fully fleshed out API.

This coupled with the fact that their support/chat is handled by actual US based engineers, allows our team to craft an MES that is truly tailor made for us.

Additionally it has a modern web based UI that incorportates most of the features you would expect out of an MES (inventory control, traceability, quality control tickets, etc.).

**What do you dislike about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

The biggest downside of ION as a platform is that it is fairly new/small. So if you come from one of the more established long standing MES platforms, you may miss a lot of the ultra-specialized workflows that have been crafted over decades of iterations.

You should go into it with the understanding that some features are just going to be clunky or bare bones since they simply haven't been around very long. For any complex use cases or workflows you should expect to have to "get your hands dirty" and spin up your own solutions via the API or webhooks. Luckily FR understands that and has gone out of their way to make it as painless as possible.

Also worth noting is that it is purely a web/browser based system. So there is a lot of things that a standalone piece of software can do that ION simply can't (nativley running scripts or interfacing with other software on the same PC). It also requires an internet connection.

**What problems is First Resonance ION Factory OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ION is our main MES system so it handles all of our day to day production. We especially take advantage of it's build tracability and as built BOM capabilities since it is a requirement for many of our Military customers.

  ### 7. ION is the combination of flexibility and agility...

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Martin D. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2023

**What do you like best about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

ION is in an essense very simple to use. It is extremely flexible allowing you to taylor it to your needs. It is relatively easy to implement but you will need guidance to avoid some (potentially painfull) pittfalls if not carefully configured. It is constantly evolving with great additional functionalities and their customer support is great to capture feedback and suggestions.

**What do you dislike about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

It's simplicity makes it mostly self learning (if you are familiar with other similar tools). One of the down side is that it needs to be integrated with a PLM and a financial system in order to be complete. It is also relatively "young" and new functionality needs to be looked carefully in order to identify potential "reporting inconsistencies". But they are quick at fixing any bugs you may be pointing out.

**What problems is First Resonance ION Factory OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides what's required to plan for material fulfilment, all the way to material traceability in production and once delivered to the field.

  ### 8. First resonance Ion looks like it is a great fit for our company to streamline all operations

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alec D. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2024

**What do you like best about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

Simple and easy to use, ease of implementation and support available

**What do you dislike about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

There is very little I dislike. It integrates well with our pdm and plm solution

**What problems is First Resonance ION Factory OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Streamlining manufacturing and inventory management

  ### 9. Review from chef b2b robotics company

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ethan A. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2023

**What do you like best about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

Comprehensive, lot of features, support available d

**What do you dislike about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

When building an aBom, you can't batch confirm unserialized parta. You have to confirm each part, reload the page, lose your place.
I would like to have bin barcodes that draw from any available inventory, it's not possible to merge inventory from different POs
Site doesn't render well on mobile.

**What problems is First Resonance ION Factory OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking the location of inventory. Tracing serial numbered parts to assemblies

  ### 10. Adaptability and Flexibility

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Aviation & Aerospace | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2023

**What do you like best about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

ION has a good range of features for inventory management, and it is easy to implement whatever materials and processes you need. The system can be adapted well and access can be restricted to those who need it (and know what they're doing!).

**What do you dislike about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

Some features cause issues for those using the system more frequently - such as warehousing/inventory. These are more issues with front-end display - a lack of "dark mode," overly fine fonts, and pop-ups that won't clear on their own (or clear too quickly).

**What problems is First Resonance ION Factory OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ION prevents a good way to record and access inventory database functions. It's straightforward to set up manufacturing trees, including factory/work centre locations, and integrates well with other design software (such as Duro).

  ### 11. Among one of the better Factory OS out there.

I truly enjoy the ease of setting it up.

**What do you dislike about First Resonance ION Factory OS?**

Any user can accidentally edit part #'s.

**What problems is First Resonance ION Factory OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inventory management which has greatly allowed us to better track our inventory through the initial steps up until it being kitted into runs.
