"Reasonably reliable, has a great scanner, and connectivity to documents all very liable"
4/5
What do you like best about FineReader PDF for Windows and Mac?

Overall, implementing the system went well at install.

Scan a snip from a document, and the ABBYY will accurately provide the content into Word. Once a Word document is completed, converting it into a PDF has no issues.

Overall, it is about reliability and ease with documents implementing the desired outcome.

In the last 12 months, most days have been used regularly. My usage was either conversion of a Word document into a PDF or bringing a PDF over into Word. For most other functions in ABBYY, I had no need otherwise.

No issues were converting Power Slides into PDF. Any integration with Microsoft seemed to flow through well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FineReader PDF for Windows and Mac?

I contacted Customer support concerning a password issue and never received a reply. The problem with the password seemed to be length and gaps at 256 Bit.

The other issue is with ‘Privacy Eraser Pro’. Our computers are wiped down after use to eliminate any passwords left over in the clipboard. Any settings inside the registry if set inside Eraser Pro, will cause ABBYY to have to be re-installed. There is no issue with using East-Tec Privacy Eraser, just the registry settings in Eraser Pro. "A strong contender, not yet perfect though"
4/5
What do you like best about FineReader PDF for Windows and Mac?

I use FineReader basically daily. For both, private as well as office, I was looking for a soluion which would generate well recognized OCR document, being able to handle multi language documents and its output filesize would be small.

FineReader allows me to handle all of these aspects pretty well. Recognition speed and accuracy is very good, I am able to automate / batch process several files at once. Integration into workflows is without flaw. For anyone having experienced the big solution for PDFs, Abby's take feels less painful to implement.

A change from the market leader to Abby was easly to be implemented for our IT.

Another aspect of my work & usecase are documents, on which small adjustments need to be made. It was always a pain to add information on documents and / or do small corrections, if you do not have the source documet. ABBY FineReader supports me here as well. The built in recognition of formats, fonts, tables etc works very good for me.

Lastly, I had a situation where my installation stopped working. Abby's support worked fast, replied with details step-by-step instructions and was very involved in follow up of the solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FineReader PDF for Windows and Mac?

Some of the downsides experienced with the toll include the following:

For me the menues are not well though through. Eventhough they follow a certain logic, you still need too many clicks to achieve some of the regular tasks for me (e.g. if I want to clean up a scanned document, regognize itw ith OCR and convert to a small sized document, I would like to have it on one cklick.

Of course, I am able to adjust changes rather granulary but would prefer, sometime, to have asimpler option as well.

The OCR editor is a very powerfull tool to work on every detail of a recognition. However, being so migty it is way to cumbersome for daily adjustment tasks. I hardly ever use it for regular documents. Of course, if the scan quality is good enough, the built in regonition harly ever needs a human touch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
