## FinalBuilder Reviews
  ### 1. Sr. Systems Engineer with 15 years of experience in SysOps/DevOps

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Denis K. | Sr. Systems Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2021

**What do you like best about FinalBuilder?**

Granular customization of deployment scenarios and projects. Ease of integration with other tools and Cloud platforms. You don't have to be a "DevOps Guru" to run and even maintain and debug your or anyone else's builds.
FinalBuilder's logging feature is superb and extremely helpful in debugging process because it logs the output from all tools it calls during the build process. Also, logs from previous builds are archived.

**What do you dislike about FinalBuilder?**

There's quite a learning curve before one could master FinalBuilder. Therefore, creating a build project could be fraught with errors and oversights for novice users of FinalBuilder.

**What problems is FinalBuilder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use FinalBuilder for deployment of multiple code versions to various Dev and QA environments as well as Production. Provide Dev and QA department members with limited access to build projects for adjustments/tweaks and other purposes. There's a great deal of other purposes and business needs that FinalBuilder solves (and makes lives of all participants of the software development life cycle a lot easier), such as version control, task automation, automated software builds etc. which, in my opinion, is a set of must-have features that should come standard with any other alternative tools/software.

  ### 2. A powerful automation tool - highly recommended

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about FinalBuilder?**

We used FinalBuilder to automate a highly specialised XML workflow. Formerly, this workflow would have required an enormous amount of manual labour. The problem with manual labour, as everyone knows, is that it is highly error prone. The game designers on our team would regularly "bork" the XML files by doing too many manual edits under pressure. We could not change the XML schema due to it being consumed by 3rd party tools, so we were forced to work with this less than ideal situation until we hit upon the idea to use Final Builder to automate everything. A few tweaks, some research into the FinalBuilder documetnation, and viola, a highly functioning tool! We could now perform the same task flawlessly in seconds, that formerly took up to 30 minutes and was highly error prone. No more anxious game designers, and the programmers could focus on more productive work. We also used FinalBuilder to automate our build pipeline processes later on, as it had already proved itself quite nicely during our testing with the XML automation. The main comment I would make is that the FinalBuilder interface is very intuitive and very well documented, with plenty of tips and examples that make putting together complex workflows like XML schema rewrites a breeze compared to using command-line utilities or other build tools. The wonderful "block by block" flow tools allow even non-programmers to easily change the workflows and designs once a more experienced developer has written the initial workflow.

**What do you dislike about FinalBuilder?**

I think Final Builder's UX design could be updated a little bit more for 2020 with a cleaner design.

**What problems is FinalBuilder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

XML schema workflow rewrites of complex XML documents that cannot be screwed up. Automation removes human error. The main issue was to replace command line tools with somethign more intuitive.

  ### 3. FinalBuilder, the hidden gem

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David I. | Software Engineer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 14, 2020

**What do you like best about FinalBuilder?**

FinalBuilder is comprehensive with more than 600 available actions. It is integrated with several version control products and can be used for enterprise automation.

**What do you dislike about FinalBuilder?**

For some reason, it is unknown to many developers and DevOps. I used to have it as part of Delphi and used it only for building my applications. Years later, after the boom of the SDLC, agile development, and continuous integration, I started using it as a crucial part of my toolchain.

**Recommendations to others considering FinalBuilder:**

Beware of the name as it is misleading. FinalBuilder is much more capable than just a build tool. It is an automation tool which happens to be capable of building several kinds of applications.

**What problems is FinalBuilder solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm not using it right now because it doesn't belong to the company toolchain. Still, I used it for years on several companies as the primary build tool, and many times for deploying the applications according to the local SDLC. For some time, we used it paired to FinalBuilder Server until VSoft replaced it with Continua CI. The included actions were especially useful during deployment to remote servers, replacing old-style automation tools.
