## Fin Reviews
  ### 1. Straightforward Setup, But Lacks Recommendation

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Fin?**

I like Fin because it's pretty technical and goes into quite a bit of detail. It's not overly sycophantic like some AIs can be and is pretty much straight to the point. It's also quite useful how it can include links to external sources to provide further details to the customers.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

I think it can be useful to perhaps reference some of our existing internal documentation videos that have been made, and perhaps, you know, you've altered the level of technical detail according to user.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Fin to test the efficacy of its database for support questions. It's technical and straight to the point, and it includes links to external sources for further details.

**Official Response from Kateryna Kharytonova:**

> Hey there,

Andrew here, I’m a manager on our support team.

Fin should be recommending the right next steps to your customers, and if you aren’t seeing that I’d love to take a closer look. Often this comes down to how you have your Fin Guidance configured, and setting up guidance to reference particular resources in certain situations I believe would help with what you’re seeing here. Feel free to email me andrew.randazzo@fin.ai and we can partner on this one with you!

  ### 2. Fin By Intercom - Automate your resolution

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** ANSHUMAN P. | Intern, Arts and Crafts, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Fin?**

fin by intercom has a 7-phase process, and it's a AI agent that beats many common AI agents used currently

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

the software takes to be needed to be trained before using efficiently. And the fact that you have pay 0.99 dollars for each resolution, and doesn't assure that the problem is solved

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

in a summary, for me, it is a huge help in the sector of company's support team, so a customer doesn't have to wait for their queries

**Official Response from Kateryna Kharytonova:**

> Hey Anshuman, Aisling here, I lead Pricing at Intercom.

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback, we really appreciate it!
You’re absolutely right that Fin needs trained before it works at its highest level. One of Fin’s core strengths is that it only uses the content, data, and tools you give it, which means you’re in full control. That does mean some initial setup is required, but it’s designed to be seamless. Many customers start by simply pointing Fin at their help center and can be live within minutes. From there, you can incrementally improve performance using insights and the Fin flywheel.

On pricing, if Fin doesn’t fully resolve the conversation and the customer follows up, you don’t pay for that resolution, even if Fin partially helped.
More broadly, across our dataset and industry benchmarks, $0.99 per successful resolution represents strong ROI compared to the human alternative and typically delivers a better customer experience as well. Fast, consistent, accurate answers (especially when customers need immediate help) tend to outperform long wait times and manual handling - unlocking both cost efficiencies and revenue opportunities.

If this is something holding you back, we’d genuinely love to talk it through. Feel free to reach out directly at aisling.oreilly (at) intercom (dot) io

  ### 3. Fin falls short, low resolution rate, many open issues Intercom doesn't fix

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex B. | Founder and CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2025

**What do you like best about Fin?**

If we have a help article about the question a user has, then Fin usually finds it and paraphrases the help documentation to the user in a concise helpful way

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

Fin doesn't achieve 65% resolution rate like Intercom guarantees, it only achieves 50.7%, and in truth its much lower since we often have to intervene and rescue conversations where Fin is unhelpful or hallucinates, and Fin still claims these as its resolutions and Intercom charges us for these despite us having to pay a human to resolve them properly.

Also we have many open issues with Fin for months now:
1. Fin often closes conversations part way through as spam, so we have to manually review all its work
2. Fin often refuses to escalate to a human despite asking our user and our user indicating they want to talk to a human
3. Fin often gets stuck in loops and just tells the user the same answer over and over. Intercom blames this on us and says its an issue with our content. Ridiculous.

When you have problems with Fin, Intercom makes it very hard to contact them about it, and they don't take responsibility for issues. You have to spend a lot of time talking to Fin before you can talk to a human. Then once you talk to a human 9 times out of 10 they find a way to avoid taking any responsibility for the issue, but if you push they eventually will acknowledge the issue, but then not fix it.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ideally its meant to help customers with their support issues faster than a human.

  ### 4. Good for support, bad for User CRM

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Fin?**

There are 2 parts to my department, support and success. For support, intercom has been very helpful; however, for success it has been a nightmare. The sales representatives at intercom assured us that their platform can be used as a CRM and we fell for it. It is difficult to use, picks and chooses when to save data, and if a CSV is uploaded, intercom will delete other information randomly. Also, customer service at intercom is probably the worst I've ever encountered.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

See above - bad customer service, unreliable platform for CRM purposes

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Intercom has been great for customer support. It is built into our interface and allows customers to access self service or contact our support team right away.

**Official Response from Kateryna Kharytonova:**

> Hey there,

Bobby here, I lead the customer support team at Intercom. I'm really sorry to see this. As a customer service company we want to model great Support. And the last thing we want is for anyone feeling mislead on the product. I want to try and fix this.

We’re glad that you are enjoying our customer service platform. AI first customer support is our current focus area but we would love to understand how we can better suit your needs. Our own Success team uses Intercom (along with Salesforce), so maybe we can figure out a solution. If not, we can chat about downgrading (for just support) or refunding your subscription.

You can email me at robert.stapleton@intercom.io. Thank you!

  ### 5. Overwhelming, annoying but generally functional

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Fin?**

- Fairly intuitive interface for talking to customers who have reached out.
- Nice "notes" feature.
- Tickets are annotated with rich fields which makes it easy to catch up on context when chatting with a customer.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

- Really easy to lose track of tickets that get re-assigned, or threads you are only tagged in.
- Cannot use the mobile app for some reason (can't login through SSO)
- I do not understand the new "Status" feature and why it is useful to me.
- I get random pings when the tab is open but when I switch to the tab I don't see any new messages for me specifically.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's the interface that I use at my job to talk to customers who run into bugs or are experiencing issues using our product. I have to do this as part of an engineering on-call rotation.

  ### 6. When it works, it's great. When it doesn't work, it is painstaking to a company.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2024

**What do you like best about Fin?**

When the chat feature works, it's a great tool for connecting with app users. It was also easy to set up the integration.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

It is not reliable. Often stops working our doesn't send out outbound chat messages to user base. Customer Support is not helpful.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allows us to send outbound chats as well as app notifications to user base.

  ### 7. This tool desperately requires significant enhancements to catch up with the modern standards

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Fin?**

I appreciate the user-friendly interface of the intercom, resembling a dynamic two-way chat rather than a mundane email-like conversation.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

The reporting and managing the conversations is not easy on intercom. There are no predefined fields to map the tickets. They mainly use tags and tag is not an efficiant way to put a ticket in particular boxes.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Intercom solves various communication challenges by providing a centralized platform for seamless customer interactions, allowing efficient real-time conversations, personalized messaging, and comprehensive user data tracking. This benefits businesses by improving customer support, enhancing engagement, increasing conversion rates, and gaining valuable insights to optimize their services.

**Official Response from Kate Sugrue:**

> Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review and let us know about your experience with Intercom.

We have recently launched a number of support tool updates such as Tickets and Workflows and continue to invest in evolving these features. Feedback like this is extremely useful to our teams so I have shared it directly with the relevant people here.

In fact, they'd love to speak with you further on this so, if you have time, please get in touch via the messenger and ask for Brian McKiernan.

Thanks so much again,
Kate (Intercom - Customer Advocacy)

  ### 8. Too clunky and assistance is not time sensitive

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Javier O. | Financial Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Fin?**

I love the potential of this app; however, the execution is lacking, and the setup is abysmal

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

real-time conversating with client prospects or customers and Intuitive AI-driven responses to practical questions

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to redirect service requests to one end of the spectrum and filter sales opportunities

  ### 9. Good product, lacking account management and billing support

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2023

**What do you like best about Fin?**

The live chat feature is good and our customers use it frequently. As a small support team we are able to triage inbound chats efficiently and with ease.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

When it comes to account management and billing, Intercom is terrible to work with. I have tried emailing and calling our relationship manager and can never get through. When they need something from us though, they expect an immediate response.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Live chat support embedded into our application.

**Official Response from Kate Sugrue:**

> Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us a review. It sounds like you have had a frustrating experience, that's certainly not what we aim for.

I'm going to escalate this feedback internally as we're always adapting and improving and both of these areas are being given specific focus right now. If you have the time, I'd really appreciate if you could share your details with me - just ask for Kate Sugrue in the Intercom messenger.

Thanks again,
Kate (Intercom - Customer Advocacy)

  ### 10. Pretty solid but needs some improvement.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dan L. | Customer success associate, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Fin?**

The best upsides are the library and app integration those really help.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

Some of the hotkeys in intercom interfere with normal typing ie. I am typing a message quickly and then suddenly the chat closes and I have to reopen it and type the message again.

**Recommendations to others considering Fin:**

Further integration with 3rd party groups like upscope and also a homegrown built in option for macros for users and for companies.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The integration of upscope does help assist customers having technical issues.

  ### 11. Missing some key features

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 05, 2022

**What do you like best about Fin?**

Simplified inbox, not too many colors or confusing syntax

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

The API could be improved, or rather could be expanded comparing to other platforms there's a lot of functionalities that I expected but didn't see
Also, customer service takes a few days to respond

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automations with the new custom actions api

  ### 12. Not enough for the pricepoint

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Fin?**

Easy, intuitive to learn basics. You can learn the basics without much training

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

All the basic support things like SLAs are behind a major paywall

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we just needed a CRM to use and at the time - Intercom was the most cost effective for the size of the business.

  ### 13. Okay platform, some issues and horrible support

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Staffing and Recruiting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 25, 2020

**What do you like best about Fin?**

There are some cool new tools like series and mobile carousel that have real potential to help bring people through our workflows.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

It is very hard to get in touch with support or get an answer to any questions. You would think a company designed to offer support software would have decent support... that is not the case. Currently, I've been waiting for a response to a single question for a full week, and I've followed up twice. Very frustrating.

Their email builder also requires HTML or jss coding for templates, which is not ideal. Most email platforms have drag and drop editors.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our support team uses Intercom to manage tickets and respond to users, which seems to go well.

**Official Response from Kate Sugrue:**

> Thanks for taking the time to leave us this review, and I'm glad to hear Intercom is helping your support team manage customer conversations.

Although we're not currently offering real time support we do recognize that our wait times have slowed with all of the changes in the world this year. That said, we know we can do better and we launched a test just this week to help us better surface more urgent queries, more quickly. So while we'll continue to work though a backlog and work to speed up our reply times overall, this will allow time sensitive matters to be seen more swiftly.

Thanks again,
Kate (Intercom - Customer Engagement)

  ### 14. Absolutely no support, expensive and bloated with features that cost extra

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2022

**What do you like best about Fin?**

Very powerful tool, but without support and expensive additions it's not worth it.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

Absolutely no support, you will wait weeks for a response and usually they try to pawn you off eventually on their help community.

**Recommendations to others considering Fin:**

Don't.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Live support with customers, which is laughable bc Intercom is terrible at support for their customers.

**Official Response from Eabha O'Sullivan:**

> Hi there - thanks for taking the time to let us know about your recent experience with Intercom. I am really sorry to hear that it wasn't a good one. We aim to answer all business enquiries within 2 business days, depending on the nature of the enquiry and account, but it sounds like you did not experience this so that's on us and I'm sorry. We do promote our community as a place to get answers to questions as it is a really good source of quick answers but we would never want a customer to feel like we have pawned them off.

I'd love to hear more in detail about your exact experience to see what went wrong and how we can fix it. Please get in touch via the Messenger so we can see what we can do.

Thanks,
Eabha (Customer Engagement)

  ### 15. Crowded interface with confusing and inconsistent notification/unread count view

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Fin?**

The ability to respond over mobile and use macros.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

The inability to use macros while using mobile. How all users of the platform are visible to all users.
The inability to simply view unread message count on mobile as depending on the last action it appears that new messages have arrived.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows prospected to ask questions with little friction, it's easy to use, and the ability to answer questions anywhere thanks to the mobile integrations.

  ### 16. Just wasn't robust enough

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Fin?**

We could see the tickets and new what needed to be addressed

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

Reporting wasn't robust enough, we wanted to be able to see more and better insights

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping our customers! Benefits were streamlined communication

**Official Response from Eabha O'Sullivan:**

> Hi there - thanks for taking the time to leave Intercom a review and letting us know what you like. We also appreciate you taking the time to let us know where we can improve. Reporting is important for every business and we are always looking of ways to improve reporting so thanks for your feedback! I will let our product team know.

Thanks,
Eabha (Customer Engagement)

  ### 17. At the end of the day, just a good marketing tool

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2022

**What do you like best about Fin?**

Ease to connect to our data base and site.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

The Knowledge base software is basic at best and horrible interface.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using for support, knowledgebase and in app banners

  ### 18. Intercom frequently stops working or freezes. Sending error happens frequently.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Fin?**

Be able to send the bulk messages. Tagging is somewhat helpful.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

Too heavy and stop working frequently. Garbling happens a lot especially when using Japanese (I guess other languages than English). Sending errors happen frequently and couldn't find the root causes even after the investigation of the engineering team. The interface is not user-friendly, for example, we can't easily change the size of the insert picture.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We don't solve the problem but simply send the bulk messages.

**Official Response from Eabha O'Sullivan:**

> Hi there - thanks for taking the time to leave Intercom a review and letting us know what you like!

We really appreciate your feedback and want to let you know, the performance of Intercom is something we take seriously. I've let our product team know your feedback alongside your feature requests.

Thanks,
Eabha (Customer Engagement)

  ### 19. Product is good (but expensive), support has become awful

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Fin?**

It's useful for setting triggers and notifications when users take certain in app actions, and the chat functionality is easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

2 things that have made us actively be searching for alternatives just a few months in to a contract:

1. The support once you sign up/pay is awful. I mean really, really awful. We were promised a dedicated account manager and as I write this I have just sent the fifth message in 19 days asking how I can speak to this mythical account manager, and still haven't heard anything back from anyone at Intercom. Not sure this person even exists.
In addition, we've reached out to the billing team to resolve an issue with a our card (every time intercom tries to bill the card the bank freezes it, and they keep trying to bill it again!). They send lots of messages threatening to cut off the account if the issue isn't resolved soon, but haven't actually responded to a single one of our messages trying to resolve it...

2. The price becomes unsustainable very quickly. We pay thousands of dollars already and this will probably in a year or two be tens of thousands based on our scaling. The product is good, but it's nowhere near the level of good to justify that type of cost.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer live chat and sending targeted messages during SaaS onboarding.

**Official Response from Kate Sugrue:**

> Thank you for leaving us this candid review. This is not the customer experience we aim for and I'm very sorry to hear you've had trouble contacting your account team. I'd like to get to the bottom of this so please get in touch either via the messenger (ask for me by name) or email be at kate dot sugrue at Intercom dot com.

I'll also make sure your feedback regarding our pricing and packaging gets back to the team responsible here. We're always looking for ways to align the price you pay to the value you see, but it's difficult to find a structure that suits all business models.

Thanks again for all of the feedback and for sharing your experience with us,
Kate (Intercom - Customer Engagement)

  ### 20. It's good for CRM purposes but as far as a chatbot assistant it lacks many features that we expected

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Fin?**

I like the Natural Language Processing and the overall UI

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

It lacks customization from the development side as far as Webhooks and API calls go. Access to operator bot directly to provide responses supplied from ourselves through the API would greatly increase the value of Intercom. Also the pricing is ridiculous to allow us to change the launcher icon. We would rather have a "Powered by Intercom" that is static at the bottom of the chat window but charging an additional $6000 to have access to change the icon is overboard.

**Recommendations to others considering Fin:**

Be sure to ensure everything being demoed is what is offered in the package you are being shown

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing quick support and helpful articles but again this lacks so much functionality that we expected when this was demoed to us.

**Official Response from Kate Sugrue:**

> Thanks for reviewing Intercom and letting us know about your experience with Intercom. I'm glad to hear we're helping you deliver quick support with our automation and self-service support tools.

I appreciate your feedback regarding dev customizations as well as our pricing and packaging. I'll make sure to pass these on to the respective product teams as we're always looking for ways to improve.

Thanks again,
Kate (Intercom - Customer Engagement)

  ### 21. The messages & campaigns have issues and Very bad support provided

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2020

**What do you like best about Fin?**

Overall, I like the support features provided, the messages and campaigns are easy to set up

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

The messages & Campaigns pop up are blocking our users from the platform and website, they can't close the pop up which is very confusing and annoying, unfortunately when reached to support I was help for 2 days with no response in addition they did not care to solve the issue and went on closing the case without solving

**Recommendations to others considering Fin:**

A great tool, they just need to double-check their support as they should be the ones providing premium support or at least let users know how long would it take to solve an issue and not just showing that they are away!

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easily manage Support, Send messages to our users as what's new or updates in general...Did not like the onboarding experience on Intercom

**Official Response from Kate Sugrue:**

> Thanks for taking the time to leave us this review. I'm glad to hear that you like the features and have found Intercom easy to set up.

While we don't currently offer realtime support, you may see some longer response times depending on your subscription as our team navigates the changes and challenges going on in the world. I'm sorry to hear we let you down here though as it certainly doesn't sound like the experience we want to offer.

Just yesterday we launched our new customer community forum which is another avenue for finding solutions to your product queries. Please check it out at forum.intercom.com, say hi and myself or one of our team can help you out :)

Thanks again
Kate (Intercom - Customer Engagement)

  ### 22. Good platform, expensive, w/no support

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** gerry b. | Agency Vice President of Creative, Creative Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 03, 2020

**What do you like best about Fin?**

The platform does what you need it to do, well.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

The price is very high for what it brings to the table.
Support is non-existent.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Intercom is a vital part of our customer support management.

**Official Response from Kate Sugrue:**

> Hi Gerry,

First off, I want to apologize for the difficulty you have had with our support service. I've looked in to your conversation and have seen that you have since come to a resolution which I hope will help your situation.

We are so appreciative that Intercom is a vital part of your customer support management and aim to help you in whatever way we can at this time.

  ### 23. Intercomm is good if it fits your business model

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Fin?**

Simple web interface, good uptime, notes on conversations feature. Easy to understand without huge amounts of training

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

There were several times that Intercom would end up on blacklists to some client email systems so your email would end up in the spam folder. There were also issues around the types of attachments that you were allowed to download. So spreadsheets were not able to be downloaded for instance which became a major problem when sharing complex information.

**Recommendations to others considering Fin:**

If you are looking for software to interact with your sales leads then this could be the one. If you are looking to use it for something like customer support there will be compromises.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were using intercom for customer service and support which isn't it's core business which is much more in the area of sales and marketing. This showed in how dificult it could be to initiate contact with a client. This issue has now been resolved by the Intercom team.

  ### 24. Does loads of stuff but is confusing

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2019

**What do you like best about Fin?**

Great for in app messaging and sending triggered messages. Does loads all in one place. Live chat, help desk, product tours, user segmentation and more.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

Nothing is easy to do and you always need to double and triple check any message that you are sending out to make sure it’s going to the right segment of users. Closed tickets don’t stay closed if the ticket request replies to your email with a new separate issue, bringing with it potentially months old questions that have already been solved. There’s also no ability to merge duplicate tickets that come in from the same users.

**Recommendations to others considering Fin:**

If you just need a help desk there are better options.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using it for live chat and email support primarily. It’s really handy for sending out in app product updates.

  ### 25. They can brake your website and no one cares to fix it.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** EzCare Medical C. | CMO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Fin?**

It can solve a lot of tasks, enough tools to help with communications. No delays

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

Overpriced. Low-quality customer service and development. It brakes a lot and no one cares to fix it.

**Recommendations to others considering Fin:**

Good solution until something brakes. No one will be available to help you for months

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communications with customers, auto-replies. We can provide useful information when the office is closed

  ### 26. Complex Product

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** C D. | Business Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Fin?**

It did the job and the customer's experience was straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

Change of pricing structure meant an 250% price increase!

Support was lacking. Direct helpline, support was only available via their own chat interface. A query over their pricing policy, took an afternoon to resolve via 2 different agents and didn't resolve the issues.

The product is also overly complex and getting the front line of engaging with clients is there for not a slick as I would have liked.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Offering a live on-line chat facility for prospective and current clients.

  ### 27. Tries to be everything and lacks focus

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Fin?**

User engagement metrics and filters to get lists is good but nothing outside of what other similar tools can do

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

Its hard to clean data (delete old in mass, add new, join, etc). Also many contacts get associated to the wrong accounts and it's frustrating. Finally, they are trying to be CRM, email marketing, platform usage tool and I feel they don't do anything great.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly user engagement and platform usage as well as communication. We do get usage metrics but that rate of noise is high and no easy tools to quickly clean it

  ### 28. Great potential but needs to be improved

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Fin?**

I like the idea of the bot and how it can improve our customers' experience. I also find the platform easy to use, to navigate and nice to look at. The Intercom Staff always responds to me quickly and efficiently. I like to use it overall and I can see its potential, but it's not quite there yet.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

The bot does not work as well as I would like to. The Intercom staff have looked into it for me and said that the issues I had were due to bad design. They will look at improving those, but at the moment it does not work as well and cannot be customised as much as I would like it to. I find it hard to find where to go to customise the bot and options as well. I wish there were more options to customise its functions. There is no way to capture the email from the beginning of the conversation and although they are currently trialing it, I believe this is something that should already be part of it.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a great platform to use as a team, the round-robin ensures that the workload is spread fairly.

  ### 29. Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** C W. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 13, 2018

**What do you like best about Fin?**

I do like that Intercom is constantly working to improve their service and really listens to their users. The platform is really easy to figure out for someone who is not familiar with a Help Desk.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

Intercom has an extreme lack of communication and the reporting needs a lot of improvement. When as issue arises, it is up to the user to become a detective to find out the issue, rather than Intercom sending out a chat or message to its users informing them of the bug.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simple issues of people needing help.

  ### 30. Okay product, a lot of bugs and slow support

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Fin?**

The widget is nice, and the API is not bad. For basic stuff the tool is solid

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

Support takes hours to respond (funny since they are a "live chat" tool), the app has so many bugs. The support team can solve basic questions, . nothing advance, and tend to ignore follow ups. Also pricing is quite high. I would do further research before deciding to go for intercom.

**Recommendations to others considering Fin:**

Do more research if you are enterprise

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Support

  ### 31. Chat program works fine, I do not recommend this for email marketing

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carolin M. | Email Marketing Manager, Financial Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2017

**What do you like best about Fin?**

It's great that chat messages and email messages can be woven together, for example when segmenting and targeting audiences, and in reporting. Seeing each user's complete message history is useful.

I like that emails can have a condition to not send to anyone who's been contacted in X days. This helps with not overwhelming recipients.

Their support team is friendly, and the fact that the program's features are lacking is not their fault.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

Their email program is incredibly basic. I think if you'd like to focus on email marketing and not just your chat support, looking *anywhere* but with Intercom is a better idea.

One of my biggest grievances is that if you upload HTML, certain parts get stripped out, rendering emails not looking or functioning correctly. This has been acknowledged by their support team, and their only advice was to use their very very limited WYSIWYG editor.

Certain things Intercom adds to the HTML when sending are known spam triggers (according to SendForensics).

It is possible to pull in dynamic variables from the mailing list, but you can't manipulate them (as you can in programs like Responsys), and I also don't believe it's possible to have dynamic content pieces in the email, based on mailing list values or demographics.

There are no extension tables.

There are no text versions generated.

There is no view in browser link.

Email sends can't be throttled over time for large deployments.

Test emails can only be sent to 5 users at a time, and they are not a true copy of the actual email (for example, links aren't encoded).

Emails can be previewed with actual user data, but which user is picked is random.

Rules for segmenting audiences are incredibly hard to use and very basic. For example, I can only choose AND or OR conditions, no combination of the two, and no nesting. The available conditions are very limited (for example, I can choose "value is xyz" but not "value is not xyz"). There is no way to re-order rules, other than to delete everything and start over.

If a user bounces, but then updates their email address, their record remains forever marked as "undeliverable". Again, support acknowledges this and promises that a solution is in the works.

Reporting is rudimentary. A lot of metrics can only be exported for all-time sends, not by week or month, etc.

There is no reporting on a click level - only how many clicks overall an email received. That is fine for emails with only one CTA, but useless for a newsletter.

There are often unexplained bugs.

**Recommendations to others considering Fin:**

Only use this as your chat program.

Solve emails some other way, for example with Mailchimp (which does have an Intercom integration!)

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Most importantly, it allowed us to organize our email deployments in a way where we could be sure the emails were spaced out appropriately and individual users wouldn't get marketing emails too close together.

  ### 32. No reporting capability

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2017

**What do you like best about Fin?**

The ability to send automated campaigns - my Customer Success team uses Intercom to proactively manage feature usage among our user base.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

There is no way to report on the effectiveness of our campaigns. We send a number of proactive outreach campaigns to our customers, and we are unable to generate a report from Intercom that allows us show how many of our customers took a suggested action. When we asked their support team, we were told we need to integrate with a BI tool.

**Recommendations to others considering Fin:**

It's a great tool to send automated emails and in-app messaging, but will not allow you to report on them.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I head up the Customer Success team at my company, many of our Programs require a level of automation that we can achieve through Intercom emails and in-app messaging. We integrated Intercom with our proprietary tool (CRM) and send automated email campaigns to customers based on feature usage. We are able to set specific send dates, and send campaigns to a specific cohort of users based on how they are interacting with our product. I also appreciate the ability to use the A/B testing feature to ensure our content is capturing the attention of our target audience.

The frustrating part of Intercom is not being able to pull reporting on each of these campaigns. I am unable to communicate to my CEO how effective our Customer Success Programs have been, which is a huge downfall of this product. I would imagine most companies needing a light marketing automation tool still need to pull reports on their campaigns.

  ### 33. utilized the chat feature

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2018

**What do you like best about Fin?**

its very user friendly, support is awesome when you need assistance. I never really experienced any outages with this product as well.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

There is too much on once screen, you can fill overwhelmed. We were replying to workers in 14 different cities and notification were popping up left in right. If there was a more organized way of receiving the notiications, it would make the service much more awesome.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick chat with workers who need assistance. It was quick compared to communication between phone and emails.

  ### 34. Very complicated billing caculation system---they charged me US 600 for one month

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2017

**What do you like best about Fin?**

over all intercom is a very good product, can be used in website and apps

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

we are a very small company, Normally we answer about 30 Emails per day.
we decide to use intercom to make a better help system, according to their website, we only pay about 100USD per month, but end up we received about 600USD per month.

this is what they explain to us:

"Here's how people are added to your Intercom database:
If visitors to your website start a chat with you they are stored in Intercom as Leads
If you have Intercom installed on your web or mobile app, Users are added when people sign in
You manually add Users and Leads via our CSV Import and the Intercom REST API
If you forward your email to your team inbox, new people that email you will be added as Leads
At any time you can delete/remove people from Intercom in order to control your people count, changes here will be reflected in your next invoice. For more details and to see how your pricing will change as your user base grows, check out: www.intercom.com/pricing"

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we can provide better customers service

  ### 35. Fine for in-app but terrible for email marketing

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2017

**What do you like best about Fin?**

The in-app messages perform well and are easy to set up. The platform is user friendly and could be a great tool for support and product teams to get feedback.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

The email marketing side is terrible. You can't customize the design or do AB tests for one-off emails. Uploading lists is tedious, and the email analytics are super basic.

**Recommendations to others considering Fin:**

I would only use it for in-app or triggered emails.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We wanted to use Intercom as an all-in-one platform for email and in-app marketing. Since our marketing team is small, we were looking for tools that didn't require coding knowledge. So far, Intercom has been useful for the in-app side but hasn't lived up to its promises on the email marketing side.

  ### 36. Operator is great in the abstract but terrible in execution

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2017

**What do you like best about Fin?**

Being able to correspond with website visitors, tailor messages on specific pages and coordinate the communication on the website. In platform, being able to engage user segments and isolate targetted communication at those users who are dropping in engagement

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

I love the new release of Operator in theory. The actual release has been atrocious though. There are critical components that are not customizable or able to be turned off, and this results in a terrible user experience for certain organizations, ours being one. What is worse is their product team is completely steadfast in their poor strategic decisions, unwilling to listen to customers who are clamoring for features to be disabled (even from the backend)

**Recommendations to others considering Fin:**

Capterra, Tawk, Zendesk

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to streamline communication with both prospects and customers alike. We were realizing much better value until Operator was released, and now having constant issues because of really poor product design and even worse customization.

  ### 37. Powerful Communication Tool, but PRICEY

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim B. | Data Science Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2017

**What do you like best about Fin?**

SMS-like chat interface. It's beautiful and engaging. The Operator bot is helpful in increasing conversions

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

No true office hours settings. You can set office hours, but it is still going to greet every site visitor as if you're online. We have had a lot of people complain on the chat or leave altogether when they realize they've been tricked into a conversation.

**Recommendations to others considering Fin:**

Intercom does not ask for email address or phone number right off the bat, so you must be very quick to respond or visitors will remain anonymous and abandon the chat.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have 19-21k monthly site visitors, and have 2-3% conversion rate. Trying to interact with more users, plus provide a channel for them to reach us quicker than email/forms.

  ### 38. Great way to stay connected to our customers

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Facilities Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Fin?**

I love how this product keep us in constant contact with our customers, helped out our marketing team stay connected to all of our customers.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

I didn't use this product long enough to find things I didn't like, but if I had to name one thing, it would be ease of use. Some tags were a little bit confusing.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Intercom provided ways for us to stay in constant contact with our customers.

  ### 39. Has gone from Good to a Disaster quickly

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2016

**What do you like best about Fin?**

Intercom has several things about it that I enjoy. The User Interface is great, it is a very clean and clear program. I like the identification and assignment approach they take. I like that they offer a way to connect with their email address. I have gotten compliments from our users thinking that we designed it as well. Assignment features are great, I like the "paper trail" that we are able to leave.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

My biggest complaint happened recently with some of the updates. We are no longer able to leave an "away" message for our users/traffic anymore while off hours. We messaged Intercom into this and were greeted with a generic "We will have our team look into this" response, but no explanation as to why this occurred. I also hate that I have to use CMD + Enter to reply to people on chat. Chat is down a few times a month and that can cost us on opportunties. They are growing and making changes to components and "enhancements" that do nothing for us. They should give us the option to accept some of the changes as it affects our company as well as our traffic. I dont like how long it takes to get back to us with questions and key components of their solution they are not quick to address.

**Recommendations to others considering Fin:**

Do your research and go on to other sites to see how it works. Understand that it looks pretty but they are not on top of kinks and working out bugs.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Intercom to speak with our traffic and users on the site inquiring about software and general help. We operate 24/7 and are very active. There is benefit in immediate communication with our traffic and keep them happy and coming back. I would caution prospective buyers that this is a growing/building product and while it looks pretty and has a user interface that we enjoy, I do not want to think about the money that they have cost us by being down and not working at peak hours.

  ### 40. Too much stuff in the interface, not able to clean up

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rony C. | Partner, Real Estate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2017

**What do you like best about Fin?**

It was simple and aesthetically pleasing at the start. However, I disliked their automated proactive intercom pushes when I was trying to log in and respond to a customer. They just got on the way at the wrong time.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

However, they separated their support and acquisition products into two different products, which is nonsense for some startups like mine. We wanted to do a pre-survey on our unlogged clients because we have two distinct type of users, and unlike their competitors, they did not have that option ready.

**Recommendations to others considering Fin:**

I left intercom some months ago, so maybe it has changed. But I would not recommend intercom if you are willing to use it only as a chat service, simply because there are competitors offering more value cheaper.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer aquisition and support.

  ### 41. Supposed to make communication easier

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2018

**What do you like best about Fin?**

It is embedded into our site which is very cool.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

The interface for talking with clients is clunky

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Talking with people who have questions and land our on website.

  ### 42. Not Reliable

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Taylor H. | Support, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2016

**What do you like best about Fin?**

This product is great at tracking user engagement. It will also let you know which of your users need training. to get up and rolling with your software. The system will also tell you how long users have been around.

I really like the concept and idea that intercom is attempting. Hoping they invest into their dev team a bit more.

It's good for categorizing clients and sending out mass emails.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

This product is extremely unreliable.as far being able to use effectively. The system crashes a lot. Often times it takes 45 seconds to a load page. Their team also seems to constantly move around features instead of making their current feature more robust.

**Recommendations to others considering Fin:**

This product is extremely unreliable. Crashes a lot. Takes 45 seconds to load page. Constantly moving around features.

Track user engagement. What users need training. How long users have been around. Good for categorizing clients and mass email.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a way to manage our user engagement. So far this has got us almost there.

  ### 43. Bad support, didn't go live with it.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2016

**What do you like best about Fin?**

I like the product interface and how easy it is to use....once it's set up.

**What do you dislike about Fin?**

Honestly, I was excited about getting Intercom set up but their support was so bad that after 3 hours of trying I cancelled. Refused to talk on the phone and took 5 mins between chat conversations.

**What problems is Fin solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bringing in leads from our Marketing website.
