After learning the program, it is a great way to hold a lot of information. **What do you dislike about Filevine?** I don't know enough about the program yet to give any feedback on this question. **What problems is Filevine solving and how is that benefiting you?** Again, I don't know the program enough to answer this. ### 2. Information at your fingertips, but can be difficult to navigate conversations **Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Legal Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** August 02, 2024 **What do you like best about Filevine?** Has lots of tabs to separate docs, contact info, etc. Great for everyday use, and easy to look up clients. **What do you dislike about Filevine?** It can seem cluttered at times. There are lots of functions on it that can seem overwhelming. The "activity" tab has all communications and updates for the case, but this can be overwhelming when trying to find information. The platform itslef isn't terrible, but there is lots of room for human error or clutter. For instance, in the "docs" section attorneys and support staff can upload images and docs to various subheadings such as "discovery", "pleadings", "correspondence", etc., but many times attorneys and staff have a lot on their plate and don't use the tabs, thus the fron page of "docs" is overloaded with tons of different pics and docs all at once – can easily get cluttered. **What problems is Filevine solving and how is that benefiting you?** Has everything in separate tabs to keep track of bills, records, etc. – can be organizationally useful! ### 3. Ease of use **Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Kendra C. | Legal Assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** March 09, 2023 **What do you like best about Filevine?** I like how easy it is to use and it is shaving time off preparation of letters/documents so I can more done in a day. **What do you dislike about Filevine?** I cannot upload videos that are NOT in mp3 format - for instance if a video requires VLC player, Filevine will not pay those videos for me and when I am uploading videos from opposing counsel, most of the time these videos won't play **What problems is Filevine solving and how is that benefiting you?** Keeping track of medical records and billing requests. It's straightforward to use and helps get legal work done faster. ### 5. Filevine - Lots of Promise, Lots of Disappointment **Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Christian S. | Paralegal / Intake Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2021 **What do you like best about Filevine?** I love the flexibility and the ease with which you can set dates, tasks, deadline chains, and delegation among team members. Reporting features are ok. While the customization ability is adequate, FV's mantra of "fully customizable" falls short. **What do you dislike about Filevine?** Inability to mirror fields, report customization, and frequent slowness & outages have dampened our spirit with FV. Also, inability to add team by project type is a problem. Early documentation was ok, but newer documentation is lacking as is support. FV removed the ability to have direct fax lines into projects along with implemented texting charges well after we were sold on this capability. Also, FV is not able to sync with document storage providers like Dropbox and given it's more frequent downtime, this is a concern. And their API is not very robust or complete. Support often takes a while to return your inquiry. **Recommendations to others considering Filevine:** Your initial build and data migration will take more time than you or FV estimate; think of all data points you want in advance before starting to build and try to name them the same as you have in your current software; know you will add more datapoints and information later. FV is easy to use and provides you with tons of data once you get past the learning curve, but you will not be able to get reports on all of your data. The API is great but not as robust as you may be used to. Task management is ok but is a pain if someone is promoted, leaves or is no longer doing the job when the task was originally created. A good solution for many issues in law practice provided you are ok with putting in the work to make it work for your firm. **What problems is Filevine solving and how is that benefiting you?** The custom text utilization allows us to contact our clients while making them feel listened to and appreciated. We are able to more easily run certain reports and have data to help us better manage our firm, but the lack of certain customizations is a point of frustration. The billing and expense section is workable but the inability to run reports on native and built-in FV data points is troublesome. The lack of trust accounting is a detriment to billable practices. Overall we are more automated than ever before and do see progress and improvement from FV but more can be done still - not even with new features, just by enhancing or cleaning up the features they already have.
