## About Figma Make (AI code gen)

Figma Make is an AI-powered, prompt-to-app tool built natively into the Figma platform that enables designers, product managers, developers, and non-technical users to turn ideas and existing Figma designs into interactive prototypes, functional web apps, and production-ready front-end code—all without leaving their design workflow. At its core, Figma Make accepts natural language prompts to generate HTML, CSS, and JavaScript that powers layouts, behaviors, and interactions. Users can start from a blank canvas or import existing frames directly from Figma Design, preserving their structure and metadata. From there, a single prompt can produce a fully interactive prototype complete with screens, logic, navigation flows, and dynamic states—ready to preview and test in real time. Figma Make features a built-in code editor that makes all generated code fully visible and editable. Users who want deeper control can inspect, tweak, and extend the underlying code directly, while those without coding experience can rely entirely on natural language prompts. The tool also supports a visual properties panel and point-and-edit interactions, allowing users to click any element on the canvas and prompt or adjust it in context—bridging the gap between design intent and functional implementation. To ground prototypes in real design systems, Figma Make supports Make kits—customizable, reusable packages that bring in npm packages from public or private registries, along with Figma library styles and tokens, so generated output aligns with a team's actual codebase from the start. Make attachments let users supply additional project context—PDFs, markdown files, CSV and JSON datasets, screenshots, brand guidelines, and more—directly into the prompt, so prototypes reflect real content rather than placeholders. For backend connectivity, Figma Make integrates with Supabase, enabling user authentication, real data storage, private API connections, and live dynamic behaviors—turning prototypes into genuinely functional web apps. Users can also connect to external tools via MCP (Model Context Protocol) connectors to pull in PRDs, tickets, and other product documentation as context. Figma Make supports React code generation natively, with output compatible with modern frameworks including Next.js, Remix, and Vite. Teams can export code to a GitHub repository or create a pull request directly from Figma Make to ship to production. A local codebase integration (in beta) allows users to convert Figma designs into localized, production-ready assets within Make's visual software editor. Additional capabilities include Plan mode (clarify intent and create a structured, editable plan before generation starts), version history (track every AI and manual edit, preview, favorite, or restore any iteration), voice-to-text prompting, custom skills (package frequent workflows into reusable instruction sets), mobile access (open and experience a Make natively on a phone), and the ability to embed Make prototypes into Figma Design, FigJam, and Figma Slides. Collaboration is built in by default: any team member can add features, incorporate data, or test new interaction models in the same file in real time, regardless of technical background. Completed Makes can be published with a dedicated URL, shared internally within an organization, or exported as code. Figma Make is available on a free Starter plan, with publishing, code editing, and advanced features unlocked on paid plans.

"A Powerful and Collaborative Tool for Modern UI/UX Design"

5/5

What do you like best about Figma?

What I like best about Figma is its intuitive interface and real-time collaboration features. It makes designing interfaces, creating prototypes, and sharing feedback with team members incredibly easy. I also appreciate its component-based design system, which helps maintain consistency across projects and makes it easier to manage design updates efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Figma?

One area I think Figma could improve is its performance when working with large and complex design files. Sometimes, files with many components, pages, and interactions can become slower to navigate. I would also like to see more flexibility in advanced features and better access to certain design system capabilities without needing higher-tier plans. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Figma solving and how is that benefiting you?

Figma solves the challenge of collaborating on design projects and maintaining a consistent workflow from initial ideas to developer handoff. It brings wireframing, UI design, prototyping, and feedback into one shared workspace, reducing the need for multiple tools and scattered communication. This helps me work more efficiently, keep designs organized, collaborate with developers and stakeholders, and turn ideas into clear, interactive experiences. "Figma Keeps Our Brand System Current and Collaboration Effortless"

5/5

What do you like best about Figma?

Figma lets me design a brand system once and have every campaign pull from it. No more hunting for the right file version. I can hand a marketer an editable file instead of a static export. They swap the headline; I keep the brand intact. The comment thread lives on the artboard. Feedback stops getting lost in email and lives where the work is.

Figma plugs into the tools I already run on, like Slack, Notion, Jira, Google Drive. For marketing, I can push assets out to the channels that need them without rebuilding artwork three times.

It runs in the browser and on desktop. No "save as v7\_FINAL\_final." The file is the file, always current. Viewer seats are free, so stakeholders can look and comment without me buying them a license. The real return is time: fewer rounds, fewer exports, fewer asset requests that used to eat half a day.

A marketer can learn enough Figma in an afternoon to swap copy in a template. The docs are clear, the community files are free, and I don't have to be the bottleneck every time someone needs a resized banner.

The AI tools speed up first-pass layouts, copy placeholders, renaming layers, and finding the component I buried six pages deep. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Figma?

The plugin ecosystem is uneven. Half of what you need exists, works for six months, then the maintainer disappears. And the handoff to email platforms is still manual, nothing exports cleanly to Klaviyo or Mailchimp without rebuilding it by hand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Figma solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before Figma, brand work lived in files named v3\_final\_USETHISONE. Clients edited the wrong deck. I rebuilt assets that already existed. Now there's one file, always current. I stopped spending hours reconciling what should have been settled.

Review used to be scattered across email threads, Slack DMs, and marked-up PDFs. Now comments sit on the artboard they refer to. I know what's been addressed and what hasn't. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great community resources, but the overall experience needs improvement"

1.5/5

What do you like best about Figma?

What stands out most is the Figma Community. Having instant access to thousands of open-source design systems, UI kits, wireframes, and icons massively accelerates prototyping and ideation. Instead of building common elements from scratch, you can adapt proven components and learn directly from how other top design teams structure their files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Figma?

Large files with extensive component libraries and multiple complex artboards can cause noticeable lag and high browser memory usage. Even on high-end machines, canvas rendering can slow down or trigger browser tab crashes during heavy multi-user collaboration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Figma solving and how is that benefiting you?

Figma completely solves the friction between design and engineering. Previously, static mockups led to guesswork around spacing, responsive behavior, and token values. With Figma's auto-layout, shared component libraries, and Dev Mode, developers can inspect exact CSS/layout properties and design tokens directly. This creates a single source of truth, drastically cutting down back-and-forth communication and accelerating our frontend build times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The operating system for a product design company"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Figma?

3 specific things stand out for me after many years of daily use:

Variables and component properties.

We do complex SaaS products and software design: fintech dashboards, healthcare platforms, enterprise tools. These demand a single button component that works seamlessly across a main platform, a patient portal, and an admin dashboard. Variables let us manage this flexibility without component bloat.

Branching.

When designing in phases for active products, we often explore multiple directions simultaneously. Branching allows us to do this securely, without copy-pasting files or losing version history.

Dev Mode.

Engineering teams use this to pull spacing values, color tokens, and code snippets directly, which cuts the spec documentation time roughly in half. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Figma?

Performance degrades noticeably on large enterprise files. We work on products with 200+ screens and dozens of component variants, and once a file crosses a certain complexity threshold, the canvas starts to lag: zooming, scrolling, and switching between pages all slow down. You can split files to work around it, but that introduces its own problems with cross-file component references.

Prototyping is still limited. Complex conditional flows - where the next screen depends on data state, user role, or previous selections are hard to represent without workarounds. For a dashboard where what a user sees depends on their portfolio type, account level, and market state, we end up building separate prototype flows for each scenario rather than one dynamic prototype. We often supplement with coded prototypes for client presentations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Figma solving and how is that benefiting you?

Figma consolidates all the required features into one environment. The direct benefits: design and engineering look at the same file (no export-and-upload cycle), version history is automatic (no manual branching discipline required), and client review happens in the browser with commenting - no app installs, no "which version is this?" questions. "Figma Makes UI/UX Design and Team Collaboration Easier"

4/5

What do you like best about Figma?

The best thing about Figma is how easy it makes collaborative UI/UX design. Multiple people can work on the same file in real time, and the interface is clean and flexible for creating designs, prototypes, and sharing feedback. It also makes handoff between designers and developers much smoother. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Figma?

The main downside is that Figma can take some time to learn, especially for new users coming from simpler design tools. Larger files can also feel a bit heavy at times, and some advanced features or AI capabilities may require getting used to. The pricing can also become a consideration for larger teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Figma solving and how is that benefiting you?

Figma helps solve collaboration and communication issues in the design process. It keeps designs, prototypes, comments, and feedback in one place, so teams can work together without constantly sharing updated files. Its integrations also make it easier to connect design work with development and project workflows. Onboarding is fairly straightforward once you understand the basic tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Essential for Multi-Language, Multi-Surface UI Design and Dev Collaboration"

4/5

What do you like best about Figma?

Figma has been essential for designing the complete UI across our logistics platform, from the driver app to the client-facing web platform and admin panel, keeping design consistent across all three surfaces. The interface is intuitive for both designers and developers, making it easy to jump between designing and inspecting components without a steep learning curve. Real-time collaboration has let our design and development teams work from the same file simultaneously, cutting down on the back-and-forth that used to happen with static design handoffs. Performance is generally smooth for typical design work, and integration with our development workflow through inspection tools has sped up implementation significantly. Pricing has offered solid ROI given how much design and development time it's saved through better collaboration. Onboarding was quick since most designers already had prior Figma experience, and the component and design system features have made it easy to maintain consistency across different screens and languages, since we support Arabic, English, and Urdu across the platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Figma?

Performance can slow down noticeably on very large, complex files with many components and layers, which became more of an issue as our design system grew across all three products. Integrations with some of our development tooling aren't as deep as we'd like, occasionally requiring manual handoff steps. Managing version history for major redesigns sometimes felt less intuitive compared to more traditional version control tools developers are used to. Pricing for additional seats adds up as the design and development team grows, and support response times for more nuanced technical questions were slower than expected. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Figma solving and how is that benefiting you?

Figma has let our design and development teams collaborate on the platform's UI in real time instead of working from disconnected design files and mockups. This has sped up how quickly designs move from concept to implementation across the driver app, client platform, and admin panel, while keeping visual consistency across three languages and multiple product surfaces. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Figma made our design workflow so much smoother"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Figma?

The best thing about figma that i really like the most would be the collaboration and the real time editing feature! like i really can design with other multiple people designing at the same time on the same file at once and also i can see my teammates mouse cursors and changes live and i think its such a cool feature !!! also the best thing about figma could also be the ease of learning like really a greatt interface and easy placement of tools and buttons ! unlike adobe which is really hard to find tools and ease of use is literally so bad!!! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Figma?

The first thing that i dislike about figma is that if the files or number of frames gets bigger or large it can get very laggy and slow sometimes plus if i zoom over it gets sluggish in heavy files and it really did eat up alot of my RAM/CPU in browser mode!! My second dislike would be that the application needs a stable internet connection to work smoothly and i think its not great for working in low connectivity areas, also besides this i can really say the mobile app limitations are also there like the app is mainly for the viewing or commenting not he full editing thing ! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Figma solving and how is that benefiting you?

As a developer and other designers which works in silos we had alot of miscommunication problems about the specifications, spacings colors! So the problem that figma is solving that were benefiting it that the figma's direct inspect feature lets the developer pull out the exact values directly which really do skip the cutting down back and forth! Another major problem that we faced was that it was so hard to co-design or review the work in real time which our team was spread across many different locations, the benefit and problem which figma solved was the real time collaboration which really do let us work in the same file simultaneously! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Figma Makes Design Systems Truly Scalable with Variants and Auto-Layout"

5/5

What do you like best about Figma?

What I like most is how it makes design systems actually scalable instead of just aspirational. When you’re maintaining something like a component library across multiple product modules, Figma’s variants and auto-layout let you update a single base component and have those changes propagate everywhere. That’s the difference between a design system that’s a living, trusted reference and one that’s just a Figma file nobody really relies on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Figma?

Version control is still the weak point for me. Once a file gets complex—multiple modules, dozens of components, and several contributors—branching and merging feels bolted on compared to something like Git. I’ve run into situations where I needed to test a layout change without putting the main file at risk, and while the branching feature technically works, it becomes clunky for anything beyond a simple review cycle. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Figma solving and how is that benefiting you?

It solves the core handoff problem: the gap between what a designer envisions and what a developer actually builds. Before tools like this, that gap was filled with static mockups, redlined PDFs, and a lot of back-and-forth Slack messages asking things like, “What’s the padding here?” Figma collapses all of that into a single file developers can inspect directly, with exact spacing, color tokens, and component states that are queryable rather than guessed at. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Figma’s Real-Time Collaboration Makes Design Fast and Effortless"

5/5

What do you like best about Figma?

What I like best about Figma is its real-time collaboration and ease of use. Multiple team members can work on the same design simultaneously, making feedback and iteration much faster. Its cloud-based platform, intuitive interface, and extensive plugin ecosystem also make it easy to create, prototype, and share designs without worrying about version control or software installation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Figma?

One downside of Figma is that it relies heavily on an internet connection, so performance can be affected when working with large files or on slower networks. Some advanced features are limited to paid plans, and very complex design files can occasionally feel sluggish. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Figma solving and how is that benefiting you?

Figma solves the challenge of collaborative UI/UX design by allowing designers, developers, and stakeholders to work together in real time on the same project. It streamlines the design process, simplifies feedback, and eliminates version control issues. This helps me collaborate more efficiently, speed up design iterations, and deliver projects faster.
