I liked the fact that FastSpring only requires a percentage cut of sales and not an additional service fee, but as of 2023 that has now changed. They now required a $150 "Risk Assement Fee." And if you fail to pay it, your store will be shut down and all pending payments will be held for "90 days." I also loved the complete control of order fulfillment. My previous e-Commerce platform allowed for zero customization of the order completion email. FastSpring however, allows for customization of the text only email as well as the HTML version and even Web page order completion so that the customer doesn't even have to go to their email. They can complete an order and download their order in the same window! Sad that the e-Commerce platform I'm switching to now will not have this. They also fully cover VAT tax collection. Once again, my previous e-Commerce platform didn't cover VAT at all and they even assured me that VAT only mattered to sellers in the EU not buyers. This is incorrect. EU laws require e-Commerce sellers to charge VAT Tax on purchases of electronically delivered products for buyers based in the European Union. In the EU law before 2015, VAT was based on the location of the business, but it is now based on the location of the customer. So the fact that FastSpring abides with EU laws is great! And I have had many EU based happy customers thanks to FastSpring's VAT coverage! And how can I forget? Unlimited storage! Unlimited storage meaning that you can host as many files total on your store. So you could have a store with 10TB of files total. Individual product file size limits are 5TB however. But I will never use that much myself. Lastly, the ability to see your customer's IP address and how many times they have downloaded your product is an amazing feature! This helps me in particular when a customer tries to lie and say they never received or downloaded their order and they ask for a refund. FastSpring allows me to see how many times they've downloaded. On my previous e-Commerce platform, this was not possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about FastSpring? The sudden addition of a mandatory "Risk Assessment Fee." We are to pay by 29th or they threaten to shut down our store and keep all earnings for 90 days. Their notice of this fee was also short notice. In addition to this, they are now using AI as the judge of whether or not we can continue to use FastSpring even after we pay the $150 fee. The AI can improperly process your documents and the human support team will not help you. So not only will your store possibly be shut down despite having the proper documentation, but the support team will not help you leaving you at the mercy of the AI. It's free in terms of paying out of pocket to use their services, so you have nothing to lose! I had paid $69.62 for Rankmath Pro via FastSpring, but the transaction was not shown as successful from their end and my money got deducted and not received the product also. I like that it takes care of all the taxes (VAT, sales tax, etc.) and invoicing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about FastSpring? Over the years (since 2014) I experienced many technical issues with Fastspring. Unfortunately, their system is unstable and losing customers because the payment gateway is not working is the last thing you want. What makes things even worse they provide NO technical support. If something happens you are on your own. Some of the examples: - They are closing tickets without any resolution after few months (eg. #93527 - I put the reference for Fastspring stuff if they would like to comment) - Sometimes even without notifying - #100260 is the bug that was impacting my live orders was closed after 2 YEARS and 3 months - Recently I reported that notifications from Fastspring to my site stopped working and I couldn't fulfil my obligations towards my customers that have just paid. I took 20h for their support to start working on the issue but the support team member was not skilled enough and after my request issue was escalated. After 26h I got a reply from their engineer that made no sense considering all the previous info provided. Finally, we had to switch to non-SSL notification and make a workaround on our side (#00830958) - This is just a sample. There were many more technical issues I won't even mention. Lack of support and the unstable system are unacceptable in this critical field. Especially, if something goes wrong you can't just switch to another company. Their Google Analytics integration works great and not having to take care of VAT and payment security saves me a lot of time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about FastSpring? Their customer support used to be great. I rarely had problems and when they were problems, they would solve them quickly. Over the last few months, I have noticed that they were taking longer and longer to reply. One month ago, a customer tried to purchase my course and was billed twice. FastSpring took one week to reply and say they are working on it. One month later, the payments still haven't been refunded and they ignore my messages. This makes me look bad as a seller and is the reason why i ultimately decided to leave FastSpring. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. I have observed the quality of their support deteriorate over the years: tickets take longer (days) to hear a response, and even when you do, the Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering FastSpring: I'd suggest to go through the support material thoroughly to get a good understanding of how to setup your products within FastSpring. Also, the Fast Spring staff helped me to get my first template after my main website for free. It save me a lot of time, especially as I am trying to get the online store up and running.
