Faro (formerly Faro Health) provides the structured data and AI infrastructure for clinical development. Pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies use Faro to design clinical trial protocols, capture the structured intent behind each design decision, and run AI agents across development workflows with traceability and human oversight built in. The platform is used by six of the world’s ten largest pharmaceutical companies. Most clinical development knowledge still sits in unstructured documents. Protocols, schedules of activities, and the decisions that connect them are written as narrative text, which makes cross functional dependencies hard to see and makes it difficult for AI systems to reason over the content reliably. Faro’s proprietary ontology and clinical development data models translate scientific, medical, regulatory, and operational concepts into structured, machine readable intent. AI agents built on this foundation can work with the underlying logic of a study rather than simply summarizing the documents that describe it. The platform includes three products. Faro Designer is where teams build protocol elements such as objectives, endpoints, and the schedule of activities as structured data aligned to corporate standards and industry frameworks. Faro Authoring generates protocol sections and other clinical documents from that structured foundation, so drafts stay consistent with the study design. Faro Optimization applies AI agents to simulate the schedule of activities, assess site and patient burden, quantify protocol complexity, validate internal consistency across study elements, and benchmark designs against industry frameworks, including the Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development (CSDD) framework. Clinical scientists, medical writers, clinical operations leaders, and biostatisticians use Faro to identify amendment drivers before study launch, reduce rework, and align cross functional teams earlier in the design process. In March 2026, Bristol Myers Squibb standardized on Faro’s platform as the system of record for structured protocol design across its drug development organization. In August 2026, Faro raised a $37 million Series B led jointly by Merck Global Health Innovation Fund and S32. Faro maintains ISO 27001 certification and a SOC 2 Type II attestation.
