What do you like best about Falconstor?

I really like that I can configure everything as disk-based backups that I can pull individual files or do a bare-metal restore of any server I'm backing up. The restore process is simple and intuitive and the entire system is easy to expand so that it can scale as your needs increase. Backups and restores are very fast due to the use of disks and the connections between servers, but you can also configure everything as virtual tapes for ease of management. What do you dislike about Falconstor?

The basic console can be a little daunting at first, and training on how to use the system is an absolute must. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Falconstor:

Try to plan ahead regarding your available backup space. Always build in a cushion over and above what you absolutely need in terms of disk space. It makes things much easier if you decide to expand or add servers shortly after your initial implementation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Falconstor solving and how is that benefiting you?

I have a single cohesive backup solution that I can use to directly or remotely manage all my servers and also have the backup repository automatically replicate offsite on whatever schedule I choose. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Falconstor?

Stable and reliable operations. Easy and very intuitive management interface. Good functionalities Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Falconstor?

Standard generic driver support, so no provider specific driver like for example atape device driver for IBM LTO tape devices not usable, hence the multipath functionality of the device driver can not be used with the FalconStor appliance, which is very disappointing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Falconstor solving and how is that benefiting you?

You can emulate tape devices for your backup solution. Advantage of the VTL is that you can easily add mount points (tape devices) and tapes as required to meet your backup objectives. With physical tape devices and physical tapes this is mor a hastle and more complex as you need to physically intervene on the infrastructure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

lacking cutting-edge support. For example, the NSSVA and CDPVA are not supported in Hyper-V, whereas there's a new version FMSVA that requires more steps in terms of setup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Use the classical NSS/CDP if you need just base functionality, such as Timemark, Mirror, Replication...if you need the web and cloud version, try out FMS Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Falconstor?

I loved the user friendly software. It is easy to get around the software. The capabilities of this product is awesome. It has a predictive analysis option that is great. Worked perfect with everything we already has set up for the office. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Nothing really. The installation process was a little difficult but besides that the software itself was awesome. The support is not the best. It can take awhile for customer support to get back to you but once they do it is good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
