Very wide range of functionality, many features, customizable to your own preferences and needs. The email alerts are absolutely amazing - they provide real-time updates on markets, economic data, and politics. It's very useful as it is consolidated and sent right to your inbox. You can select which updates, alerts, etc you want in the Preferences section. I also like the Portfolio Monitor, where you can upload a portfolio into the system and monitor it over time. This functionality provides real-time data on how that portfolio is performing. The options charts are very useful as well - options are complicated as they are, but Factset makes it very straightforward with a simple user interface. Additionally, the order book is updated and real-time as well, you can see trades, volumes, and various other price metrics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about FactSet Workstation? Sometimes, the system can be cumbersome due to it's wide functionalities, but overall - straightforward after a few uses, you just need to get used to it. Investment research, market alerts, and portfolio management. Research into individual equities, ETFs and other investment vehicles. Also benefits for consolidating various news outlets and market data into email alerts. Screening capabilities are excellent with Factset, customizable criteria available. For discretionary equity portfolios, it's great to make a custom earnings calendar and find out when earning calls are, price momentum going forward into earnings season, and past history of earnings/earnings expectations/earnings beats and misses. There are almost too many features sometimes. It can be overwhelming how much there is and it’s not every intuitive. I’ve had to learn how to use it from a specialist when we have them come in. I like the organization of the page - it makes it very easy to navigate. The one pagers for the deal information is what I use most often, and it is efficient to have the key items on a single page. I also like the calendar tab, because it helps me organize my week for the different calls that I want to listen in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about FactSet Workstation? I believe FactSet has a new page layout coming out, and I have had the chance to look at it. Maybe it is because I am used to the old page, but I don't necessarily love the new layout. It also seems to run a bit slower, but that may be because it is in the testing phases. Sometimes, if you type a ticker for the deals, it will get stuck in the box, and it makes it hard to search for other deals outside that company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. My favorite aspect of the Fact Set user experience is speed. The application is very rapid and reliable and despite multiple navigations and workflows during use, it rarely ceases to work or "freeze". I also like that attaching and removing data is extremely simple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about FactSet Workstation? I do not like that only one window of Fact Set is to be used at a time. The actual Fact Set terminology for one window use is "instance", it would be useful to manage and save data to be able to use multiple windows at a time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering FactSet Workstation: It is important to bear in mind that only one window of the software can be kept open at a time but the tool is fantastic to save and categorize a large amount of financial data such as K-1s and investment agreements. Working with a large amount of investment data can be very challenging and the ability to quickly save and categorize documents has allowed me to better focus on my work and perform audit reports with accuracy and flexibility.
