Factiva has been the go-to research tool of all the research companies that I have worked for in the past. We have been using it for over a decade. So much so that without Factiva, we would be completely handicapped and all our business research operations would come to a standstill. It's easy to search news about a particular client and competitor. It helped us gather a lot of insights into their business activities and helped us predict the areas where we would like to pitch (for clients). The boolean search query engine is a little daunting at first but once you have mastered it, it offers an extremely fast and sophisticated search facility. Once the search has executed, the ability to cut and filter the results into constituent parts is very strong, and equally quick. The ability to save searches is a great feature. Occasionally it pulls in spam or irrelevant content even after specifically filtering out some of that content using Boolean search terms.
