## About Exalate
Exalate is a bidirectional synchronization solution that enables teams to sync data in real time between work management and ITSM tools – across departments, companies, and organizational boundaries. It connects systems like Jira, ServiceNow, Salesforce, Azure DevOps, Zendesk, Freshservice, Freshdesk, Asana, and more. Template-based sync tools work for predefined mappings but break when requirements get specific. iPaaS solutions handle orchestration across systems but add complexity and operational overhead at scale. Custom-built integrations offer control but drain resources on maintenance. Exalate sits in between: a Groovy-based scripting engine that handles any sync logic you can define, combined with a console that gives you visibility into what's running across all your connections. Teams that need operational control and flexibility for advanced cross-team or cross-company scenarios – without unpredictable costs – are the primary audience. Key capabilities: Side-by-side configuration: View and edit both sides of any connection in one screen – scripts, sync queues, and errors for each system displayed together. No need to switch between instances or coordinate with the other party to understand what's happening. Real-time bidirectional sync: Sync issues, tickets, incidents, comments, statuses, custom fields, and attachments. Scripts remain separated by direction (incoming/outgoing) for precise control. Test Run: Validate sync scripts and configuration changes before they affect production data. Preview outcomes, then publish when confident. Aida (AI assistant): Get help understanding existing scripts, designing changes, and troubleshooting sync errors – while humans stay in control. Outcome-based pricing: Pay for active work items in sync, not user seats or transaction volumes. Exalate is used by IT teams, integration administrators, DevOps engineers, and operations managers running cross-tool and cross-company integrations – from straightforward team-level syncs to complex multi-party environments with governance requirements. Trusted by 2,500+ organizations worldwide and 200+ partners. ISO 27001 certified. Over a decade in production.

**What do you like best about Exalate?**

The customisation possibilities using simple groovy scripting is giving us the flexibility to do very complex mapping

**What do you dislike about Exalate?**

Debugging is not as easy as it maybe could be.. I did not spent the time to try to see how it could be simplified.. But There should be some way to make it simpler.

**What problems is Exalate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Complex integration between different project, and between Jira Cloud and Jira Server

 ### 5. Excellent functionality & great service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben D. | Development Teamleader & Offshore Development Mgmt, UX specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2019

**What do you like best about Exalate?**

Exalate brings flexibility, efficiency, backed with expert support to the party.
It has become an essential enabler for the matrix organization I am part of, i.e. we use it to tie customer-facing work (support, new CRs, projects) on multiple continents to the (distributed) product teams, allowing to align project aspects between the different focus-oriented teams, while each team only needs to focus on their own essential information without losing the broader context of the 'other' side.

Exalate gives us control over exposure & allows to automate predictable patterns between both instances, reducing manual actions & overhead work, clarifies ownership (owned issue vs remote issue) & communication for the involved, whilst facilitating knowledge sharing & transparency where desired.

The configuration using script language offers great flexibility, while plenty of example scripts allow for a quick-start. Handling 3rd-party plug-in fields was easier than expected.

For the end-users, it brings an adequate exposure in issue detail view (visible remote issue data / sync statuses) and offers useful exception & error handling.

**What do you dislike about Exalate?**

Troubleshooting connection setup with infra team

**Recommendations to others considering Exalate:**

Start with exposing data only, look into the handling parts later.
Get upfront clarity about ownership, management & troubleshooting of each side, particularly when syncing between different companies.

**What problems is Exalate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When a customer registers a request (defect) on the support ServiceDesk, the request will initially be dealt with on the support level. When the support agents confirms satisfying the request involves changing the product, the support agent will "exalate" (escalate) the request into our back office product JIRA, where the required changes are prepared and delivered via a CI process. Exalate is used to forward important fields (e.g. priority, due date) as well as communication with the customer from servicedesk to the backoffice; Exalate is also used to auto-communicate target delivery & release aspects back to the service desk issue, so that the customer is informed when the changes will reach them, are available for download / deployment. Finally, we keep the synchronization active until the customer confirms their request is resolved.

We've also found Exalate to be helpful when working with distributed teams and understand the broader potential: it can be used as data-piping solution, allowing to globally roll-up of all remote sites into a single consolidated HQ, to solve archiving cases (replicate & remove locally), data-migration cases (JIRAs with different versions), etc

 ### 6. Excellent tool for managed services providers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amr H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2020

**What do you like best about Exalate?**

- Simplicity in initial setup
- Enables creating advanced complex synchronizations through Groovy scripting
- Useful error handling
- Triggers use JQL which is flexible and jira user friendly

**What do you dislike about Exalate?**

Lack of granularity in permissions configuration. The Exalate buttons are either available for all users or none at all.
Also the same thing applies to the errors notifications. They are either sent to the whole admins group or none at all.

**What problems is Exalate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Receiving requirements from customers
- Enabling the customer to progress on requirements
- Communication
- Synchronizing internal projects

 ### 7. Overall Feedback for Exalate

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Deniz T. | Information Technology Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2020

**What do you like best about Exalate?**

Integration with many systems and being able to track everything on the connected jira.

**What do you dislike about Exalate?**

Keeping Track of things done by Exalate in History is hard. It could be that Every History entry is tagged or shown on another panel.
There is too much script work to do. It is not usable by a business person.

**Recommendations to others considering Exalate:**

It is a business requirement to integrate with other systems. But using plugins like this means you have to maintain a team for exalate configurations and administration. In my case, I have integrated Jira with another Jira on a company I am consultant of and it is hard to imagine things going smoothly without me or other consultants. It is pretty stable as it is but new requirements will always be coming.

**What problems is Exalate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integrating 2 different companies Jira project. So that each company can stay in it's shell and don't have to login to another company's jira.

 ### 8. Exalate - Keep you system safe while you collaborate easily with your partners.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris S. | Internal IT Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2020

**What do you like best about Exalate?**

The actual ease of setup and use.
The flexibility in configuration.
The Security and separation options it offers
The fact that you can have your local organisations data and projects safe, yet, allow controlled communication with other instances / systems, even if these are not the same. (Atlassian cloud <--> Server/DC, and many other combinations)

The Exalate extends the already quite extreme flexibility and capabilities of the Atlassian products, by extending the collaboration abilities outside the local system.

**What do you dislike about Exalate?**

Nothing really.

The one thing I could think of, would be few ready-made "recipes" with examples for common configurations, such as Jira Server/DC <--> Cloud, or between Jira / Service Now and a few others that would facilitate a scenario with bidirectional sync.

Write up a few whitepapers on this, to aid in setup?

**What problems is Exalate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our company uses the Atlassian products for it's internal use, and we do not, for many reasons, allow external users or third-parties to directly access our systems.

We had this in mind when we did the switch, and had already accounted for this by planning to use Exalate between our main system used by the staff and our partners and external collaborators, that we placed in a cloud instance.

This way, we can keep full control over our own access and local systems, yet, with ease, share projects and collaboration with any number of external parties, even where these may need to be kept separate, unaware of each other (competing suppliers would be one such example), and do this in a controlled and secure way, effectively keeping any third parties "at arms length" separation from our internal systems.

In the case of there being disparate projects and configurations between the systems, these can be overcome by state and field mappings from one to the other, and the remote users do not have to have corresponding accounts as it is all handled by a proxy user on each side, and comments are noted with the username on the remote side, although, in the local system, they are logged by the proxy user.

It is a win-win from many points - access, security, collaboration, separation, information control, let alone, offering the opportunity of effective cross-organisation project management.

 ### 9. Exalate Plugin Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2020

**What do you like best about Exalate?**

Exalate is a great plugin for syncing issues across projects, or different jira instances. We use it to sync between a Jira self hosted server instance and a jira cloud instance. Our syncing rules are rather complex, but Exalate suport has gone above and beyond to assist in getting it configured, and are very quick to respond to support tickets.

**What do you dislike about Exalate?**

There isnt much I dislike. If I had to complain about something, the plugin has been throwing a few errors now and then about not being able to communicate with the jira cloud instance. But after submitting a support ticket I was informed that one of their datacenters had an issue. Once that was resolved, the errors stopped occurring.

**What problems is Exalate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Syncing issues between a private Jira server instance and a customer facing jira cloud instance. This allows us eliminate the possibility of customers accidentally being provided permissions to see internal data they should not be able to view.

 ### 10. Everything is simpler now

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alejandro Z. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Exalate?**

The Exalate team was flexible with us for the time it took us finish the implementation, since we were all almost full time dedicated to client projects and had little time to work on this. The first implementation of the synchronization is looking good and the team members say that everything is simpler now, since there's no longer manual work required to keep both instances synchronized. Also, the support team is highly responsive and extremely helpful.

**What do you dislike about Exalate?**

---------------------------------------------

**What problems is Exalate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are now able to synchronize in real time our JIRA with our client's JIRA.
