You can blend data obtained from a variety of sources such as SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Informix and more. There was great ease of use, data security, product support, and flexibility. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There were error messages that would come up when using it in a distributed model and this would create its own challenges. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Many including the ability for the customers to build with ease simple reports or use the platform's formula capability to build complex ones if desired. There is also the option of scheduling reports to auto run at various time intervals. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

After having tested several other leading embedded BI platforms we were convinced that Exago satisfies many of our requirements. Some of my favorite items are:

- Native support for multitenancy via a wide variety of patterns.

- Flexible user, roles, and permissions management, both via UI and API.

- Excellent exporting capabilities into Excel (better than all the platforms we have tested).

- User interface is comfortable and modern, and while not sporting super sexy visualizations, they are always improving.

- Easily embeddable as an iframe or a direct page, with a lot of flexibility on styling and theming.

- Great scheduling capabilities, by far surpassing the SSRS user experience.

- Convenient and straightforward pricing methodology, with a predictive cost that does not depend upon variables such as users, customers, servers, etc.

- Multiple releases throughout the year, so bugs usually don't stay in the system too long after being discovered.

- Great webinars and "advanced users" labs every few weeks, covering non-trivial use cases.

- Exago does not impose its storage or persistence mechanisms upon the hosting platform. The implementer gets to decide how everything is stored, if you'd like to scale or change beyond the "stock" options. This is both an advantage and a hindrance, depending on far you'd like to take the system.

- And last but certainly not least, there is a phenomenal and passionate team standing behind the product. I really cannot stress how important this is for this kind of product. You will be amazed at how quickly they can adapt their "language" to your line of business and usually help you within a couple of hours do things that might take you a lot longer. The post-sale experience is as good as the pre-sale and the handoff throughout the sale process is very smooth. It is exceptionally uncommon in this industry and I hope that others take notice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

- Do not be fooled by the simplicity of what you see. It is not going to be a walk in the park, especially if your SaaS has many hundreds of different tables, types of users, and lots of conflicting use-cases. You absolutely need to have a strong, business oriented and a fairly technical person (or team) that will spearhead this implementation. Exago's tremendous flexibility is also a source of its complexities. You need to get into the weeds in order to determine what is best for your environment, and it is often not trivial. Be prepared for some learning curve, but if you dedicate an honest effort, you will see that it is very doable to have excellent results in relatively short time.

- Although the documentation is very good, you need to have a clear plan on how to "map" your environment to the Exago landscape and have a clear set of links in the documentation with which you need to become intimately familiar. We were largely unsuccessful in our deployment until we did just that. However, once we invested a little bit of brainpower into this process, we had started gaining tremendous momentum and now the project is a major success.

- The cross tabs (pivot) reports are lacking some computational features, but there are always improvements in this area and they are always welcome. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our basic issue was: how do we reconcile the fact that we have hundreds of legacy operational reports that our users rely on on a daily basis (many of them delivered via email on a scheduled basis), with the desire of these same users to modernize the BI experience and have flashy dashboards and ability to interact with their data in a self-service model.

Out of the many solutions we have tested, Exago checked the most amount of boxes and was the ideal balance between features, functionality, and user experience. For an organization that comes from an SSRS or similar environment, this is a great package, because it does not try to shy away from "legacy" advanced reporting, which is still the firepower behind many analytics requirements in the boardroom, while at same time provide modern solutions for interactive data visualization and exploration. What do you like best?

1) Ease of Use

2) Extremely flexible to integrate

3) Prompt Support

4) Realistic Roadmap Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

1) Cross-tab functionality should be richer Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Exago is mostly suitable for the Cloud Multi-Tenant environment, but we used it for our On-premise Software Product and it works perfectly well. So it proves anybody who wants a self-service reporting tool with all relevant features of a BI tool can opt for Exago without asking any question. The openness supported by Exago to integrate and customize the default behaviour as per your needs made it more acceptable to us.

Strongly recommend Exago if you really want a hassle-free reporting tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Ginesys is one of the largest ERP Software in India, primarily for Apparel and Lifestyle Retail. For the last 3 years, we were using Exago to its fullest extend. Embedded with our product in On-Premise and cloud deployemnt, Exago provides extreme flexibility to solve our various use cases. It helps our customer to create their own reports in a self-service model, reduced significant operating cost managing 700 customers across Pan India. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Application administrators (configuration interface): Exago provides in a great way to dynamically design BI overviews by making use of the Analytics designer.

End user (end user interface): The widgets offer a great deal of customisation (even after designing the widgets ) to tailor a specific information view to the needs of our customers.

Integration (technical): The functionality offered can be easily plugged in any third party application. A wide range of tools in the Exago BI toolbox will be offered as an out of the box solution in which the DataObject structure abstraction is key to communicate to the backend Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Relation between dataobjects and the configuration file.

In out business case we make use of a dynamic database schema so on-forehand it is not possible to create the dataobject and store them (statically) in a configuration file. The trade off is that the Dataobjects need to be created on the fly which makes integration performance heavy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

1 Business Intelligence :-) . Without Exago we weren't able to provide visual insights across a large dataset

2 Delegate great freedom in data visualisation configuration to our customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Ease of use, customization capabilities, features that span reporting, self service features, visualization, analytics in one platform, customer support Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

There are some features that are not yet available. They have been brought up to Exago's attention and are in plan to be added. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I have already recommended this to a few people in other companies looking for a BI solution. Best recommendation would be to schedule a free demo to see the features against the needed requirement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Exago serves as our reporting platform. we were able to give our clients access to use existing templates in generating and scheduling execution of their own custom reports as a self service offering. This contributed to customer satisfaction, greatly reduced time to make changes with SDLC out of the picture and allowed for much greater flexibility. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Configurability is very easy and works seamlessly with our websites hosted in Microsoft Azure cloud. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

UI elements could use some improvements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The reporting needs of our clients are ever increasing so we needed a tool which can provide them with customized reports. Our previous tool wasn't able to satisfy that level of configurability. By using Exago, we were able to achieve that and customers are now building their own reports which helps improving overall efficiency of the product and the team. What do you like best?

- We have a great working relationship with Exago. They listen to our needs and help us to solve issues. Response time via their online support system is great. And when we've run into issues, they devote the time or resources needed to resolve them.

- They release new features several times a year - the product is always changing and becoming more feature-rich.

- Exago allows us to provide canned reports to address our customers' common reporting needs AND give them the power to create their own reports.

- We decide and control when we will take a new release of the Exago software.

- We were able to customize the display so that customers using the German and Spanish versions of our software see it in their native language rather than English. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Our data set is very large so response time in opening and running reports is a little slower than we'd like. Exago informed us that an upcoming release will contain performance enhancements that should address these issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

- Test it against your data, including some large data scenarios.

- Take the time to create the reports or dashboards your customers need most. This will help ensure that the product can support those requirements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have 8000 customers who range from small IT service providers to large MSP's with hundreds of employees. With Exago embedded into our software, customers can create, run, and schedule the reports they need to manage their business and maximize revenue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The flexibility that Exago offers for every skill level. Our client base runs the spectrum as far as technical skill. Exago offers an option for everyone, no matter their skill level, to build reports and gain valuable insights into their event data.

The easy to use ExpressView widget allows users with little BI skills to quickly build ad-hoc reports. The Advance Report builder as well as the Dashboard designer offer advanced users the freedom and flexibility to thoroughly analyze and organize their event data to deliver valuable KPIs to their stakeholders.

The report designer offers everything our clients need to completely design the look and feel of reports and dashboards to match their organization's brand guidelines. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

There really isn't anything that I dislike about using Exago. It's a great tool! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We needed a way for our customers to present their event data in a way that provides insight and analysis. Our standard platform reporting is simply a list of tabular data. While tabular data also has it's value, it doesn't offer the kind of insight that our clients need to make business decisions for event planning. Exago fills in that reporting gap for our clients by providing, what seems like, limitless options for organizing data and deriving key performance metrics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Our SaaS platform has over 400 built-in reports but customers were asking for the ability to create their own reports. We integrated Exam into our platform so that admins click once to open a new tab in their browser, and all the features of Exago are immediately available to them, using the filtered data sources that we built. The tool is incredibly powerful, including Express Reports, Advanced Reports, Crosstabs, Dashboards, charts with drill-down, and Chained reports. Exago support has been responsive and their documentation and videos are excellent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

There are no real dislikes. This is a complex and powerful product, the equal of any of the more well-known Business Intelligence products out there. It has been overwhelming for some of our non-technical users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

We carefully evaluated Business Objects, YellowFin, Izenda, SiSense, and Tableau before picking Exago. These are all great Business Intelligence products for large corporations. But if you want to integrate Ad Hoc Reporting into a SaaS product, we found Exago to be the best option. And we didn't have to compromise in terms of features; it has all the important capabilities of the other products. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are giving our customers the ability to create their own reports, using flattened and sanitized data. This gives our product a powerful feature when we are compared to others in our space. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Customizable features and table building Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Steep learning curve for some end users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

This is a very powerful tool that you can take out of the box. One of the big strengths is how much you can build on top of Exago - so do you want to devote the resources to build exactly what you want on top of it?

What do your end users want to see in their reports? Exago's clear strength is the "Advanced Report", which enables users to create detailed tables and reports on sophisticated data sets. They've also recently given their dashboards and visualizations a big overhaul, and so far those seem greatly improved.

Will you need to make updates to your configuration after implementation? I'm the dedicated administrator for our implementation of Exago, and we're constantly adding new data fields, categories, adjusting settings, etc. Will you want to iterate on your installation or get it set up and move on? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our users have large, complex, and interrelated data sets and desire sophisticated reports on this data. Exago enables us to manage and configure the data sets, and provides a robust report-building tool for the end users to develop the insights they need.

As an administrator, documentation is generally excellent for different features and settings, and I am quickly able to use their support center to find articles related to just about any change I am making.

Their support team is highly competent and I've always had positive experiences with them. We tend to submit complex cases and get quick resolutions with seamless escalations to managers when more experience is needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Exago comes with a lot of extensibilty options thus you can tailor the product to fit your way of how you are building your product rather than being forced to use a rigidily built software. Very good option for embedding into a software product.

Building new reports and dashboards is super fast and super easy, it is a very user friendly tool. Exago Support is super great, they are quick to respond and get back on questions and resolving issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Very large data can take some time to load up within Exago, perhaps no different than other reporting or BI solutions. There are some provided options that do allow you to work past this such as caching of data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Great tool for embedded reporting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Currently all of our reports are custom built in PHP, this means any report change requires development time build and modify new reports. Also when customers want custom reports, these are handcrafted per customer and thus not a scalable way to grow your company. As we continue to grow we are looking to give our customers more power to produce and consume reports and Exago is great solution to help provide this self service to them. We've been using Exago for a little over 5 years embedded in our software application. The solution allow us and our customers to build intelligence that helps to understand as well as drive business objectives. User interface is easy to use which helps in creating content very quickly. Absolutely love the real-time data analytics interactive dashboards that can be created as well as the standard reporting. User interface can be picked up quickly which is a real treat. Their website has a ton of training materials including how to videos, podcasts, etc... and the support team has been phenomenal. The inheritence of security profile from the HRIS which make it easy to apply proper user capabilities for employee, manager and SME portal. The possibility to use a myriad of reference formulas in cells of columns and rows such as in Excel which could be suppressed (hidden), increases the capacity and makes effecient the control and validation of HR KPI's.The scheduler is another feature I like and which we use to automatically send predefined reports in Excel to specific recipients in a specific frequency and date. What do you like best?

I have been much impressed by both the business and tech support provided by Exago. They are not just very knowledgeable about their platform, they are also a friendly bunch who take the time to understand the nature of your issues.

They are very keen to understand how their platform is used within our product and how they can improve matters to make the integration easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Not exactly a dislike but the .NET API documentation could do with some more usage scenarios. All the bits and bobs are there but some help with getting them together for advanced use cases would be great. I guess this is not easy due to the different needs of the client environments. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Exago is used for the ad hoc reporting capability within our product. It will allow our customers to create business insights into their operations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

We love how Exago has revolutionized the reporting capabilities that we can provide to our customers. The platform allows us to get our customers the information and data out of our platform in the formats they need. I like how it is powerful enough to provide many things that make their jobs easier and their use of our product more efficient and worthwhile. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Exago is very difficult to learn and is not very intuitive. I have difficulty understanding how to create certain types of reports and it has also been hard to teach our customers how to be successful on their own and to be independent of our support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Exago has been extremely helpful for our customers! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are solving for our clients need to view the data they input into our platform in a variety of ways, and to gain more insight and real-time updates into how our software is working for them. We've seen a lot of benefits from this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Our company started using Exago about 1 year ago. I have worked with them to create custom reports and I am very happy with the results. I worked with Nick and he is amazing. He is quick to understand our requirements, make suggestions to make the report better and meets the deadlines. He provides excellent communication during the creation of the reports and is always very positive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I find the learning curve steep but that might just be me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Being able to give our clients the ability to run reports is a show stopper. Prior to Exago data went in but there was no way to report on it now they can! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

After reviewing many reporting solutions we found Exago to be the closest match to our requirements. While the many of the others had great modelling and the outputs looked great in the demos the control that the end user actually had from a presentation perspective was quite limited. Ease of use vs functional capability. I think Exago gets the mix just right and even the Express View reports can be surprisingly useful. The recent dashboard update is a great enhancement too.

Exago very flexible from a date model perspective and has certainly simplified the way that we present information to our users, we did have some teething problems but these have been overcome. It has been relatively quick to implement and the extensiblity through server events is really useful too.

It has certainly gone a long way towards solving the usability issues and the level of technical knowledge required to build reports in our previous solution. Looking forward to working with Exago for many years to come.

Nick Cortina deserves a special mention, the training sessions were excellent, very grateful for all the effort that you put in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The Advanced report designer looks a little outdated now compared to the look and feel of the Express View. I do wish that the whole of the data model could be presented in the Advanced report designer while you're building the reports as it is with Express View without the need to manually add each part in, this would make the report design experience much simpler, particularly where categories are linked and you need to add them in sequentially. Export to PowerPoint would make a lot of our customers happy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Ease of use when designing a report based on a pretty complicated data mode. The report designer is intended to be used by the business users of our application not reporting specialists from the IT team. We feel that things are heading in the right direction and that a lot of the challenges before are now resolved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
