I'm not a full-time document reviewer and was new to this task, so Everlaw has been almost my first document review platform used. I have not uploaded documents for review but rather review documents produced to us by another party over the platform. One feature I appreciate but need to further improve my skills is the duplicate document detector. This is a great feature. **What do you dislike about Everlaw?** On the subject of duplicate document feature is an emphasis of how important this is to sort through and associate several files which are e-mail chains. What I experience is hundreds of files, essentially the same, but within a chain may be distinct by only the most recent e-mail. As best I understand, the duplicate file detector does not treat developing chains as duplicates but rather only the exact same file of a certain chain length. It would help to have a feature relating files that are essentially the same chain simply with further e-mails added in chronological order. **What problems is Everlaw solving and how is that benefiting you?** The challenge here is a very complex array of documents in a complex litigation and complex subject matter. Many produced documents are in native form, frequently attached to highly technical e-mails with lengthy attachments of technical substance. We neeed to be able to detect duplicates (both e-mails and attachments) down to the detail, especially of e-mail chains or versions of technical documents, because it takes a very long time to read reports to verify overlap with already-reviewed documents. Any tool that assists with analysis of percentage relationship would be a great asset. Everlaw's duplicate document finder feature is helpful to this end. **Official Response from Miguel Allende:** > Thank you for taking the time to leave Everlaw a review. While our native upload deduplication tool does respect family values, our search deduplication tool does not. Meaning, when uploading natives and globally deduplicating, we do not remove a duplicate from the upload unless the entire family is a duplicate. But, in search deduplication, the system removes any duplicates based on that individual document alone, and not their entire family. But, it sounds like you might be referring to a tool that would allow you to remove emails that exist in other threads- this is called removing non-inclusive emails through search grouping. Removing non-inclusive emails means the search results only include emails that are not duplicates within the email thread, and are inclusive; attachments are included if their parent email is included. I struggle to define one now, which makes me feel like this is not a great subject to elaborate on, but I was asked what I "... dislike about Everlaw" in a required field, so here I am. Using keywords and some of the advanced content search lets us take in hundreds of thousands or even millions of documents, run sorting by relevence, and allow the most important items to be reviewed with priority. In addition, it includes very detailed how-to videos and guides to quickly help you with any questions you have. I love the fact you can oversee the entire process from collection to production. Circling back to the ediscovery processing tool: It makes it extremely easy for anyone who is not familiar to eDiscovery to easily process documents, it basically guides you. Additionally, the easy to extract and produce documents is also something that Everlaw has excelled and I believe no other vendor/platform has something similar. **What do you dislike about Everlaw?** I have noticed that some fields cannot be processed when creating a production, for example the bcc and modified by fields are not available. I would love for Everlaw to review additional fields that hopefully can be implemented in future releases. Also, I would like for Everlaw to continue upgrading their product. For example, we have noticed with our documents that the extracted text is not as great as the vendor's extracted text. Lastly, we have also noticed that its OCR capabilities can sometimes lack accuracy when compared to the vendor's OCR (extracted text). This is a great opportunity for Everlaw to work on. **Recommendations to others considering Everlaw:** I'm a hands-on person, after sitting in a demo I was delighted at all of the things Everlaw can accomplish but as soon as I tried it out I realized this platform was made for begginner and experienced individuals in mind. **What problems is Everlaw solving and how is that benefiting you?** Currently, we're using Everlaw as a processing tool, we have realized that by using Everlaw to process our documents we can take advantage of its OCR extracting capabilities as well as converting images to searchable PDFs. Lots of information and customized training opportunities. Since I began using Everlaw I'm impressed every day I learn something new that didn't take a million clicks or pop-up windows. I'm not sure how I went so long in my career without using it, Everlaw seems like it would be a must have for any legal service provider who appreciates efficiency. **What do you dislike about Everlaw?** So far, I'd say the recorded training videos could be longer and more in depth, but this isn't a big deal since custom training can be requested. **What problems is Everlaw solving and how is that benefiting you?** The setup and implementation of things is very fast, unlike other tools I'm familiar with. ### 30. I love the 'binders' feature allowing the user to pull pertinent documents in a variety of different ways. **What do you dislike about Everlaw?** I cannot think of anything I don't like about Everlaw. **What problems is Everlaw solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our team is reviewing millions of documents. Everlaw allows easy to use binders that organize important and hot documents. Binders can also be used to cull relevant documents in preparation of depoositions. One feature that is especially helpful is keeping track of where a reviewer is in their batch. It is also very easy to communicate with team leaders regarding coding issues or document relevancy. ### 31. We are reliably getting through the material in very good time, and the integrated team communication features make it easy to track different approaches to the same document set. ### 32. There are so many ways to create preparation, whether for summarizing issues, preparing for motion practice, depositions, or trial. The platform is intuitive and features easy drag-and-drop accessibility as well. I have been using Everlaw for at least a decade and it is one of my favorite review platforms. **What do you dislike about Everlaw?** The storytelling platform should have more word processing software options, like the ability to indent, bullet points, changing of fonts and styles. I find that intuitive actions used for software like Word would come in handy when storytelling. **Recommendations to others considering Everlaw:** This is the first year I have been using the Everlaw platform. Personally, I have used every other platform for review in existence. There are some that would rather continue to use the older software platforms, but trust me when I say this; if your team is looking for a user-friendly experience that takes the guesswork out of e-discovery, give Everlaw a try. You won't be disappointed. **What problems is Everlaw solving and how is that benefiting you?** Everlaw seems to be on the cusp of doing great things with predictive coding. When larger sets of documents present themselves, predictions could help lessen the workload, and as they become more reliable, reviews could become more manageable and streamlined. ### 33. I am a litigator that has to review thousands, and sometimes hundreds of thousands of documents, as part of the discovery process. Everlaw makes that task easier and more efficient. The trainers were also great. **What do you dislike about Everlaw?** We had some issues with back-end implementation, but that is beyond my technical know-how. After leaving our old platform to Everlaw, I thought I would never get the hang of things. That quickly changed, just got to get in there and use the platform and it all comes together. I love teaching the new attorneys about Everlaw and they are amazed at what it can do. We've all come a long ways for exchanging physical documents. **What do you dislike about Everlaw?** All in all it's a fairly nice platform, however I don't like the announcement ribbons put on top of the screen. It's absolutely annoying, especially if you're working on a smaller screen at the time or you have OCDR **What problems is Everlaw solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are able to get productions out very quickly once the documents have been reviewed. We are not stuck using it the way only one person would organize a file. **What do you dislike about Everlaw?** It could be more intuitive. The learning curve is a little steep, especially for those who aren't using it at least a couple of times a week. **What problems is Everlaw solving and how is that benefiting you?** We no longer have to lug around binders of printed documents. The ability to put digital notes and comments on a document makes picking up a file after a long absence very easy. Very on top of it! **What do you dislike about Everlaw?** I'm still getting use to the "binder" section of Everlaw.
