We primarily use the remote desktop application. I like the ability to remote to mulitple machines in a tabbed view. This saves a lot of time.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

Tried setting up the Reach server so we can connect to machines outside of our domain. It doesn't work, and finding help is difficult. So to sum up my dislike: Lack of support.

**Recommendations to others considering EV Reach:**

Good Product. Able to replace many individual products under one roof. Feature set is good. Software distribution and scripting can use some more tweaks, but it's detailed enough to be used in a enterprise environment.

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The remote support issue is where Goverlan fits into our organization. There is so much more that it can do, but having time to implement is prohibiting us from using the other features.

  ### 23. Found this at a conference and it's been a FANTASTIC tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Les L. | Desktop Services Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2020

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

Ease of use and completeness of functionality.
Love the Reach server. With the Coronavirus changes in people working from home, this gave us the ability to support personal computers.
When it first started I asked them about adding Powershell functionality, and they did. That means that they actually listen to their clients.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

Not much to dislike. With the full features and programming features, it just works.

**Recommendations to others considering EV Reach:**

If you don't have a system in place for remote desktop, this would be a game-changer for support, both remote desktop and system support with reports and asset management.

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

During this crisis, we have been able to remotely support our end users without having to use Skype/Teams desktop sharing. We still have admin rights on the remote machines.

  ### 24. Comprehensive tool for endpoint management on a Windows network

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian F. | IT Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2017

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

Process automation is the primary reason this tool is so powerful, without requiring a time consuming investment in scripting for one-off tasks. The remote management feature is quite handy, but not unique until combined with the automation.

The REACH Server component is now both the RMM gateway and an important logging and reporting tool - what was good in previous versions is now indispensable. The complete suite covers the majority of desktop management duties, and the more you put into learning the automation processes, the more you get out of it.

The recent change to subscription licensing prompted me to buy more seats, and holding the licenses for the LAN on the REACH Server makes management of that easy.

The help desk integrations in 9.5 are welcome, I hope to see ours soon. I think the segregation of duties is wise, many help desk "suite" solutions have mediocre RMM and process automation tacked on, which Goverlan shines at.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

For any automation task that affects more than a few dozen endpoints, the workstations running Goverlan had best be fairly beefy - depending on the task, a few hundred endpoints can bring a quad core machine to 99% utilization. Know that going in, and it's not a big deal.

Change control is either too hard for us to figure out or non-existent, we rely on external documentation. This is a problem because with great power comes great responsibility! I would hope to see the logging and auditing extended via the Reach server in the future.

Sharing automation tasks between admin workstations is manual - it would be better to have a repository on the REACH server so every admin has a consistent toolset, and any improvements are immediately shared.

**Recommendations to others considering EV Reach:**

Demo, trial, watch the webcasts. For what it does it's straightforward, but complex tasks require forethought. Don't do a 30 minute skim and think you've come close to understanding what you can accomplish. If you've done a fair amount of scripting, that will help you appreciate what they're doing under the GUI.

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mass deployment of software, mass configuration updates - did you want SMB1 disabled RIGHT NOW after that security scare? Don't want to wait for GPO's to get updated? NO PROBLEM. Trigger an immediate Windows Update on an OU of workstations, DONE. For that matter, upgrading a complicated ERP suite needs not involve visiting each workstation, dozens of machines can be accessed simultaneously with the RMM tools, so even un-scriptable messes are more manageable.

  ### 25. It was recommended to me years ago and I love it.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason V. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2020

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

The ease of remoting into users active sessions, to see issues as they are occurring. GoverLan saves me tons of time.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

The automated scripts can sometime be difficult to get perfect, but are very helpful when they are done.

**Recommendations to others considering EV Reach:**

It's a fast, easy and powerful way to remotely administer users computers. Without goverlan I wouldn't be able to handle the workload that I do.

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's saves a lot of time. When we have a user request I can just look up the user by name, id the logged in computer that they are on, remote in and fix most issues without having to leave my desk (especially helpful with remote workers).

  ### 26. Great tool for SysAdmins and CSTs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jamie M. | Server Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2017

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

I like the robustness of tools that are packed into this software. From IP scanning which is a necessary tool used by IT admins a lot to patch management and remote desktop, this tool is quite robust for the money that they charge. Remote desktop is something that works well in most cases, and it's versatile too as we can connect to AMT/VPro instances as well as RDP, SSH, VNC and several other connectivity methods.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

Could use a little refinement in the UI, some things don't work as advertised for one reason or another. One thing being the Reach abilities with computers that are on external networks. Now, I could have totally configured our environment wrong, but that doesn't ever seem to work as advertised. If it did, it would be an amazing thing for us to have.

**Recommendations to others considering EV Reach:**

Make sure that you have a good understanding of how the system works before implementing, and test test test!

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mass deployments of policies, remote desktop inside and outside (when it works) of the firewall. We also use the tool for reporting on patches, software product checks for licensing "true up" as well as a general view of our AD environment which enables us to allow certain users into our AD environment without giving them direct access to our Domain Controllers. We do some incident management via integrations with ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus which works well for the most part. There is some tweaking to do there, but overall works well since it's a new feature.

  ### 27. Works ok-but crashes

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tina B. | Director Of Information Technology, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 13, 2017

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

Easy interface to use and I like the new updated look to it. Navigates the same.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

Crashes often, especially in the middle of pushing out software to machines.

**Recommendations to others considering EV Reach:**

Great to send out remote deployments, doesn't always work 100% of the time.

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simply pushing out software remotely--would like to start using the remote function.

  ### 28. GoverLAN Reach Allows Easy Remote Assistance to All Users

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason L. | IT Support Technician, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2019

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

GoverLAN Reach is extremely easy to deploy and use, with floating technician licenses allowing a small team to keep costs low. We have been able to meet and exceed the expectations of the teams we support, providing an alternative to in-person presence across several company locations in multiple countries. Support instances that would normally require discussing the resolution with a poweruser to assist other users, can be mitigated entirely to a single technician in a quick and easy remote session. The integration with AD to look query logged-in sessions from users prevents the need to cross-check inventory lists to see which computer must be connected-to for support for a particular user, and allows speedier lookup for users connected to terminal servers.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

GoverLAN Reach has some incompatibilities between versions, but the ability to deploy and upgrade client software from the technician-facing software allows quick resolution to keep all user equipment up-to-date.

**Recommendations to others considering EV Reach:**

GoverLAN Reach works best with the provided server software in place as well; this can allow certain policies to be standardized across clients, and allows for searching for usernames as well as computers; allowing support to be given quicker, rather than cross-referencing inventory systems to identify which computer a user is logged into.

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GoverLAN Reach has allowed our team to provide a level of support that is normally expected from a much larger team, and also allowed remote users to be receive the same assistance that normally requires a physical presence.

  ### 29. Great Product for HelpDesk!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hunter E. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2020

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

The easy of patching, running programs, and the integration with multiple ticketing systems.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

None right now. I would say more templates for process automation

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Finding who owns what computer and cost saving as we don't have to use a third party to assist people off network. Another thing, we have got rid of VNC viewer as Goverlan Remote control uses vnc viewer

  ### 30. Ultimate remote troubleshooter

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Travis B. | System Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2019

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

I would have to say the best thing going for it is the interface. It shows a mirror image of your active directory making searches pretty smooth. The changes made also reflect back to the AD accounts as well. The remote side is fairly decent. Better than many of the solutions I have worked with in previous years.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

New agent version for every version of goverlan. When Multiple techs aren't on the same version of the software, different versions of the agent are installed which in turn requires removal of the other agent and reinstallation of the agent for your version. I would like to see the agent stay the same among the different versions.
I am not a fan of how it works if the device switches from wired to wireless often. Sometimes it does get confused and doesn't show the device online if it switched, you can still connect but the list itself doesn't always pull the information needed to make that change.

**Recommendations to others considering EV Reach:**

There are not a lot of options out there that come close to this solution.

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There are so many things this solution does it is hard to list all the benefits. It is a great all in one solution when it comes to maintaining devices out there.
We are able to troubleshoot a number of issues without having to go out to the locations. This definitely helps us with time management with the overwhelming number of devices across our various locations.

  ### 31. More than just remote support tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Liz D. | Helpdesk Technician, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2019

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

I love that I can set up printers and remove software via the console without having to interrupt users. I love the feature to remotely view and interact with Windows Event viewer. The remote command line utility is helpful and offers suggestions on pre-defined commands that you can send to the console. You can also customize the list of available commands which is nice.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

I don't know if it's how we have things set up but, the console doesn't usually show logged in users. I think this is something I could adjust but, am not sure how to take care of it. I may just need more time to dig into the help.

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Goverlan to log in remote and do user training live while sharing their screen. It allows us to talk and work together without me breathing down their neck at the desk. It is helpful for remote locations of course but, not just that. I can fix issues for my users without having to log into their console by using the Goverlan Remote Console. It allows me to remotely power cycle stations.

  ### 32. Good Tool at a Good Price

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Charles S. | VP for Information Technonolgies, Legal Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2019

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

Goverlan is my go-to utility for managing Windows endpoints, especially desktops, both on LAN and remote. Goverlan has nearly any capability that could be desired, all well-presented and organized. This is much more convenient than using many separate tools and scripts. The ability to extend Goverlan with scripting and external utilities is a big plus. And all of this is available for a good price.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

The Goverlan Agent could be more robust. More support for server-side technologies such as Hyper-V would be desirable.

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can easily get an overview of all desktops on the network and what condition they are in. User support is greatly facilitated by both remote access to the user's desktop, plus chat, plus the ability to run command or control services through the network. The ability to send notifications to certain desktops is very handy. I use that often to inform users of a service interruption.

  ### 33. Makes remote administration a breeze.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christopher C. | Systems Administrator II, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2019

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

Remote Administration options are perfect for lean departments. You can remove update group policies, access a remote task manager, access a remove CMD prompt, and so much more.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

One thing to note is that goverlan uses an agent on the computers. Standardize on this version if you are a part of a team; otherwise, you will have mismatching versions and need to either update the client or your pc constantly. Although updating a client version is extremely easy, it is sometimes annoying. .

**Recommendations to others considering EV Reach:**

Remote Clients, Remote Desktops, Remote Administration - Goverlan can solve any problems related to this for you. I use it everyday for a variety of situations.

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Goverlan Reach makes remote administration simple. There is one unified console that I can login to and connect with any of my clients from around the world. It contains simple and more advanced features that should suit every IT administrator in some capacity.

  ### 34. Review from IT Support Desk Manager

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nathan M. | IT Support Desk Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2019

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

We love the ability to help support the user without interfering with their work. Example: Adding network printers from the back end etc... Along with gathering detail info of their system they are working on.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

With a company of 300+ employees the ability to keep DNS updated seem buggy. Sometimes it does not see computers or users even though they are clearly on. Usually a reboot of that persons computers works, but that's not always the case and we have to find other remote methods to troubleshoot.

**Recommendations to others considering EV Reach:**

Goverlan has a ton of features, my suggestion is to get some lessons to learn every feature that is has to offer. I know us as an organization are not even using Goverlan to its full potential only due to the fact we do not know how to use them.

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Goverlan a lot to kick user off our RPD session on servers as well are remote into their server session to troubleshoot their common issues with software.

  ### 35. Great idea, cost effective and a bit of a headache

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin R. | Managing Principal and President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2020

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

It is great to be able to use goverlan over the internet. It is a very powerful tool. However is is a bit of a skill to learn and manage it. The application is full of remote control features and remote management capabilities. It is awesome for IT department use.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

It’s hard to remember where to find all the buttons for features if you don’t use it every day. It was not consistent in being able to connect to remote computers. I spent a lot of time troubleshooting just connecting to remote computers. TeamViewer and VNC are much easier to manage if you just need pure remote control and not remote administration. Also a server is required to implement this solution unlike other solutions.

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solving remote admin of computers. It is very const effective.

  ### 36. Good for Inner workplace support and assistance

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael R. | CAD Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2020

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

Quickly allows you to find a user's PC and quickly join.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

The amount of resources it needs to operate efficiently

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Someone may have an error with their CAD program, i can quickly join them and assess what the issue is and in most cases solve it without leaving my desk.

  ### 37. Efficient Computer Management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jack T. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2020

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

I like having all the controls I need in one place - and for the integration with Active Directory, it is a lot faster to use Goverlan than using Active Directory directly.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

Getting it to push software to clients was a little tricky to learn, but it works great and was worth the effort, once I got the hang of it.

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reports are a really useful feature, as it allows us to, for example, find out which workstations have a software package that needs to be updated.

  ### 38. Efficient and Inexpensive

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff R. | Networks & Comm Systems Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2020

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

As a small IT shop, we are often expected to accomplish more with less. Goverlan allows us to reach out and manage workstations with relative ease and improves our efficiency saving time for fires burning elsewhere.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

There are moments where the software just appears to go to sleep... I credit this with being part of a geographically diverse company. With computers from coast to coast, I suppose it takes time to connect.

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Goverlan Reach gives us the ability to reach out and touch our remote users workstations easily.

  ### 39. Great Low Cost Solution for Small, Medium or Large Organization

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Derrick E. | Communications Network Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2020

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

Love the fact the licensing is not based on end devices, instead on number of technicians using the product. Make for a low cost solution for anyone. Great features and they are always willing try to expand and grow the product.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

Haven't found anything yet that I dislike. Any troubles that I have had, they have quickly helped me out with a solution.

**Recommendations to others considering EV Reach:**

Try it out, you'll like it! You can not only use it with Goverlan's Client software, but with RDP, VNC and much more.

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can easily go from managing a client machine onsite to working with someone that is offsite. If someone can connect to the internet, I can get them to run the client and let me in to help them.

  ### 40. Easy to use, Strong tools

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Remote support issues I am resolving, helps with remote task manager

  ### 41. Excellent Featureset for On-Premise environments

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Printing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2018

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

Goverlan provides me with a powerful set of remote management features, at a price point that was much better than competitors. I'm able to remotely administer systems at multiple locations across our deployment base with minimal hassle of getting connected.
I appreciate how many features are baked in to the GoverLAN console - this allows help desk users to check for issues on a system in an easy to use way without requiring a remote control sessin.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

I feel the automation module is confusing and less feature rich than it ought to be.
I'd also like to see the Reach server portion be capable of execution scheduled actions so that I don't have to leave a console license permanently tied up.
Agent connections are tied to DNS entries for the clients - this gives issues if the DNS record for a client PC is inaccurate.

**Recommendations to others considering EV Reach:**

If you're looking for software to manage a large number of remote PCs without VPN connection, GoverLAN reach is adequate at best.

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have remote employees spread out across the country, Goverlan Reach has allowed me to manage systems that don't frequently connect to the corporate network.
Scanning for endpoints with vulnerable versions of software and deploying updated versions automatically.
Augment Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) with additional automation to connect to and force updates to deploy on straggling endpoints.
Schedule reboots for systems with excessive uptime.
Audit installed software on PCs to determine licensing seat requirements.

  ### 42. GoverLan in Schools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Travis B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2020

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

The ability to see all my PC's within my Domain and the data associated with them! (OS, user, location, and description at first site!)

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

The ability to reach clients when they are off-campus and the issues with controlling Mac machines. I hear this is getting fixed with GoverLan Reach Console 10.

**Recommendations to others considering EV Reach:**

Need to automate certain processes or the ability to remote into machines GoverLan is the product.

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Teachers reach out via the help desk and I log into my GoverLan machine and instantly can log into their machine (if they are on campus) and I can walk through with them on their issues.

  ### 43. Great Support Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2019

**What do you like best about EV Reach?**

We use the product to support over 250 end-user desktops. This tool makes life easier by allowing for scripts and other automated steps from a single user interface. The remote control aspect is by far the most used in our environment.

The ability to see the specs and technical information on an end-user device without having to log in is fantastic. Active Directory integration is key and helps us keep everything connected. We can reset passwords and do other AD work from a single point.

**What do you dislike about EV Reach?**

There is no support for Android devices. We have quite a few of these and it would be nice to help with remote support on these type of mobile devices. I understand that there are technical difficulties to this, but it would be a great feature.

**Recommendations to others considering EV Reach:**

Get trials and compare

**What problems is EV Reach solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy remote access and centralized management of end user devices. This has greatly reduced our IT management costs by increasing the automation. It has become a force multiplier for our small IT staff. I would recommend this product to anyone that has to support a lot of PCs with a small staff.
