It's very powerful, and once you have the agent installed you can run tasks from the cloud console effectively. Disk Encryption for Windows devices is excellent as a solution for storing encryption keys. **What do you dislike about ESET PROTECT?** There are a lot of issues with ESET as a Cloud platform. For one, it's very clear that cloud is new for ESET- most of their engineers and technicians are trained and used to On-Prem solutions. Anytime I've had questions, it's seemed like an extra effort to get answers on the Cloud-console side of things. Then you have the macOS support, which is where my experience with ESET leaves a lot to be desired. Simply put, it is not a good product for IT when mass-deploying to a large fleet of Macs, MDM or otherwise. The process for getting any of the software solutions to work has an asterisk next to it. It kind of works, but ESET has to make major compromises and use VPN/Proxies just to get basic AV software to work and function. We ran into issues with simple things like blocking iMessages, and when we presented ESET with questions on anything Mac related, it always seemed to confuse them, or there was only one technician who knew how to handle Macintosh computers. It's just not a solution if you're managing macOS machines. Maybe 1 or 2, sure, but other than that, even uninstalling the platform is a pain and takes a lot of work. We even went so far as to buy enterprise support and consulting, but the entire process was a mess and not very organized. We did not get any real guidance, because our onboarding was cut short by nature of the technician not being familiar with Mac (90% of our environment). We've switched now to Jamf Protect, and in minutes the solution is already, with no issues on deployment and easy no-interuption installs without any need for user prompting. **Recommendations to others considering ESET PROTECT:** If you use Mac, don't. Just figure out another solution. If you're hybrid and only have a few Macs, you're probably fine. **What problems is ESET PROTECT solving and how is that benefiting you?** It solved the issue of securely storing encryption keys for Windows machines without MDM/RMM. We were shocked at the renewal cost this year which was nearly double last year's fee. Most of our computers have little RAM and older processors. Still users are not affected by the app running in the background. One of the most comment complaints that we got from our users during those trials was how the software slowed down their computer and used a huge amount of processing power even when idle. It became a problem for us to choose a software that can protect our data, but also is not a processor-hog. Then we found ESET. Our users are happy with ESET. It uses little power when scanning, a lot of time you do not even notice it. The management console provides nice graphs of computers' statuses, as well as allows admins to customize how the endpoint management should behave. A simple password lock will also prevent users from uninstalling ESET. We had some problems with setting up ESET initially, but the supports are really helpful. Their documentation covers a lot of stuff and even provides instructions on how to deploy it with our RMM. **What do you dislike about ESET PROTECT?** The MAC client is lackluster. It does not have password protection for endpoint removal so users can remove it from their computer without the admin's approval. There was an issue with ESET and watching online videos hosted on AWS. The problem lasted for a while and caused a lot of issues for our engineers and QAs. Eventually ESET pushed out a module update to fix the issue. **What problems is ESET PROTECT solving and how is that benefiting you?** With ESET PROTECT Advanced, it covers all of our security protection needs. It also makes it easy for admins to view, manage, and customize the endpoint management on each computer. The nice bonus for the Advanced tier is that it also comes with disk encryption.
