## Epic Reviews
  ### 1. Epic is useful and relatively easy to navigate.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Practice | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Epic?**

It’s helpful that you are able to personalize shortcuts and dot-phrases to make your personal charting easier and more efficient.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

The frequency of updates can be confusing

**Recommendations to others considering Epic:**

Very useful though will require comprehensive training/education

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epic standardizes charting for health care providers, which makes accessing prior records simple to do. I think an issue with the software is the frequency of big updates as I have seen providers become confused with adapting to new tools/process so often.

  ### 2. EPIC is the best system for electronic medical record management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 25, 2018

**What do you like best about Epic?**

I love how EPIC can be customized to the healthcare system. The use of SmartPhrases and automatic plug-in of information is especially helpful, especially for the complexity and volume of information for the patient. I also like that, while it can be customized, EPIC still maintains its basic forms and employees can learn EPIC systems easily when moving to another facility using the program, though it is customized to their unique needs.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

There is not much to dislike about EPIC given that it can be customized to fit the needs of those using it. The only potential issue is that users cannot chart on a patient simultaneously with another using also charting.

**Recommendations to others considering Epic:**

HIghly recommended because records can be interconnected with hospitals with the same program as well.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

EPIC allows for all the departments across the system to see the same information in real time, whereas it would have been very difficult to obtain the latest information in previous methods of recordkeeping. It also allows for a clean platform that is easy to operate, increasing efficiency of those using the system.

  ### 3. Using Epic

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kristin H. | Registered Dietitian, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2018

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Epic has a lot of really great features— scheduling, looking into patients charts, highlighting allergies. The functionality of this EMR is better than a lot of others I’ve experienced.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Sometimes it’s slow and bulky to use— can’t transition quickly from one patient to another.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s easy to stay in epic for everything without leaving— emailing, scheduling, charting, etc.

  ### 4. Epic for non-medical professional

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Translation and Localization | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Epic?**

I like the ability to search appointments by facility, and that it saves your recently-viewed patients.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

The system often doesn't find patients based on their name, so it can be hard to find someone without the medical record number.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am an interpreter coordinator. I use Epic to check notes about interpreters scheduled for appointments and to find details.

  ### 5. Financial authorization specialist

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Everything is user friendly to figure out and when merging with upgrade when we started a new project to merge clinics, most everything integrated smoothly.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Their support teams isn’t always readily available to help. Some problems they attempted to fix made some things worse or at least confusing for a lot of our team

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to eliminate cases lost in work queues because the requirements seem to not be set up right, considering non-exclusions

  ### 6. EPIC Software review from a clinical professional

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2018

**What do you like best about Epic?**

What I like best is the organized charting. Although it’s overwhelming first using epic because the amount of tabs, it is very easy to navigate once you become familiar. At the hospital I work at, Epic is a little different from the past hospital I’ve worked at. Epic is tailored differently for hospital systems which I think is extremely valuable.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

What I dislike about Epic is the fact that it’s very overwhelming at first. Furthermore, if you have a lot to chart it can take a very long time due to the amount of tabs and sub tabs and so forth within the software.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All different programs are able to be fed into Epic and have one single output. This is extremely helpful for those working behind the scenes in the lab setting to physicians to nurses. Epic is used by many hospital personnel daily, allowing it to be served as a hub for patient information.

  ### 7. Best EMR System!!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Epic is a phenomenal EMR system. As a soon to be resident, I have worked with many different EMRs at different hospitals and found Epic to be the best. It's comprehensive, cohesive, and so easy to use making patient care much easier and efficient!

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

I honestly cannot think of anything I dislike about this EMR.

**Recommendations to others considering Epic:**

You will be very happy with Epic. Make the switch today!

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epic makes patient care comprehensive and efficient. It also helps bring key things to your immediate attention which is best for the safety of your patient.

  ### 8. Epic review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Practice | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Epic?**

The use of the system to be able to communicate with the other doctors in the hospital

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

There is a lot of clicks to do something in the system and patients have too much access

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Patient care needs

  ### 9. Tremendous EMR

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Epic is truly user friendly. Compared to many other electronic medical records I have used, Epic is the most logical and easiest to use.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Some of the settings cannot be adjusted or changed. An example is the flow sheet for ICU vital signs. The ranges can’t be adjusted

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows for billing.

  ### 10. Very Easy to use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tianna L. | PCT, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2018

**What do you like best about Epic?**

I like that everything is catergorized. That makes it super easy to find what needs to be charted.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

After using Epic for a year, I don’t think there’s anything that I don’t like.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Provides an easy way for nurses, doctors, pcts, therapists to communicate and chart anything that’s going on with the patients.

  ### 11. Epic for Pediatrics

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2018

**What do you like best about Epic?**

I used this system every day at work and I love it. It is very stream lined and easy to use. It's very easy to learn and simple to navigate. I like using and customizing this platform every day as well.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Everything that was an issue has been resolved recently. It no longer crashes like it used to.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to have digital medical records of all of our patients as well as digital scheduling. The benefits are the ease of using a computer for all check ins and appointments instead of the books.

  ### 12. Upgrade was a downgrade

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** SARAH S. | Medical Assistant, Medical Practice, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Epic?**

I like the interface of epic. Pretty easy to use till the new upgrade

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

The new upgrade. Cant find where orders go. Took me forever to find the phq 9

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Medical records management. It helps emmensly! No paper charts

  ### 13. Awesome EHR healthcare program!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Epic?**

It's very convenient in the details that you can easily access to learn about the patient. I also like the appearance and the way the information is visually laid out.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

There is actually nothing that I dislike. Maybe better personalization themes.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No business problems solved with Epic left.

  ### 14. Epic

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bridget B. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Epic?**

How concise the charting is for nurses. It takes way less time, and it is very easy to review notes, labs and previous nurse's charting.
The spreadsheet is a very clear format. It is easy to learn, and easy to communicate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team on it. I can communicate with doctors and pharmacy easily with Epic.
I have used other EHR and they pale in comparison with Epic. Epic has a clean layout and is very easy to read and customize.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

I dislike that Epic is often just used as an auditing tool for healthcare providers. We are trying to help people.
I don't like that companies often try to customize Epic too much and then it can become confusing for new users to learn it.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The benefits of Epic are that I spend less time charting, but my documentation is still good. This gives me more time to spend with my patients.

  ### 15. Easy to operate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** BRADY M. | Senior Collections Specialist, Retail, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2018

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Working as a medical appointment scheduler you need a system that’s easy to operate yet efficient and that would be Epic.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

I can’t think of anything offhand that I dislike about the software.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Through Epic we are easily able to schedule medical appointments and it’s a universal medical operating software

  ### 16. Easy to use and more organized charts

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2018

**What do you like best about Epic?**

I went from Point Click Care to Epic when changing jobs and the difference in the two is huge. Epic is very user friendly even with some Coworkers who are not
computer savvy. I like that we can message directly in a chart to other support staff, set reminders, and just keep a nice clean and organized chart.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

I really enjoy Epic. I found this to be the best EHR program so far.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Able to follow up on patients’ requests and needs in a more timely manner.

  ### 17. Epic is fast and easy!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Holly R. | Compliance Specialist, Insurance, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2018

**What do you like best about Epic?**

It is way easier to maneuver through compared to our last software program: Concept 1. It’s built more like an app on your phone.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Nothing except the search tool is very specific. One wrong letter or hyphen and the item you’re searching for won’t pop up! Kind of finicky.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work as a Compliance Specialist so I mainly deal with tax compliance. It’s easy to search for transactions and to see if everything is matching up when I have to file for the State.

  ### 18. Worthwhile health management software, but buggy.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Epic?**

The software provides me as an IT support agent easy access to employee information, login and usage statistics, etc.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Epic is good overall but it does have a tendency to crash either itself locally, Citrix receiver locally or the session on the server.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I imagine it's great for doctors having an active database of patient information at their fingertips.

  ### 19. Powerful System

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mental Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Epic?**

It is a powerful system. There is so much that it can do.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

It can be difficult to learn. Learning is definitely ongoing.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was able to complete documentation, completely manage patients, and submit billing.

  ### 20. Wonderful software, very easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Haley S. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2018

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Epic is extremely user friendly, including the options to customize your colors and how you organize your tabs. It is easy to give and take access to certain areas of the software depending on the employee.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

I have no complaints about this software at all. It rarely has issues.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When using Epic I am helping solve billing problems for patients. Epic makes it very easy to keep billing and coding organized and keep tabs on claims that have had to be rebilled.

  ### 21. Epic is the best electronic health record platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Epic?**

User friendliness, inter office communication and tasking, referral follow-ups, overall performance is superior to other platforms

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Running reports is not as straightforward or easy to filter as other systems. Not particularly aesthetically superior compared to some other platforms.

**Recommendations to others considering Epic:**

Hands down the best EHR/EPM platform.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Electronic record system for practice management and health record system.

  ### 30. Probably the gold standard for electronic medical records

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathan L. | Registered Nurse, Hospital & Health Care, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2018

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Full integration with ability to customize. I think the most important thing is the Care Everywhere feature that allows communication and sharing of information between organizations. It is very common these days for people to have healthcare needs across multiple healthcare systems and Epic helps bring that all together in one place.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

There was a bit of a learning curve using EPIC. Some features were very intuitive while other were not as intuitive and took some time to learn. But I would assume most EMRs require some learning curve as things are unfamiliar and need to find how to get to certain information. The only negative I have found so far is the inability to create a spreadsheet selecting only the information you want all in one Summary tab. But from what I hear, this is an organization issue applying limits to its interface rather than EPIC itself.

**Recommendations to others considering Epic:**

Seems to be the gold standard across most hospital systems. I've also had the opportunity to use other EMRs which show amazing potential and intuitive interfaces but its like the Apple iPhone and how many people stick with it because of the ecosystem and everyone else has one...

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Everything in healthcare is heading towards EMR. It has helped to streamline a lot of documentation. Somethings are still easier on paper but that seems to be an area where we will need to adapt.

  ### 31. Very user friendly, easy to navigate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Well organized with tabs to find everything (ie. office encounters, medical history, etc.)

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Does not integrate with our other healthcare software, have to use it as stand alone.

**Recommendations to others considering Epic:**

It is a user friendly and huge time-saving product. Very highly recommend.

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Able to see patients medical information from our local hospital, without having to request through medical records. It’s a huge time saver.

  ### 32. Very efficient

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2018

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Easy to navigate between different pages and functions.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Sometimes can be difficult to see multiple things at once.

Brain- gives you an overview of tasks for each patient for the day. Flowsheets- easy to see an overview of the patient.

Time management

**What do you like best about Epic?**

It is very useful for managing hundreds of patients in an office setting. It was easy to find patients with similar disease states.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

  ### 37. Foo many redundancies

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Epic?**

Overall great product but there are too many ways to do simple tasks and only one for the difficult tasks. This is kinda frustrating.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

It makes simple things difficult .when you are trying to do refills it does not tell you until you are done if some one else is working on the same one

**Recommendations to others considering Epic:**

It really is quite simple and easy fo use

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our patients records are in great shape

  ### 38. Epic-- a must for hospitals.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2018

**What do you like best about Epic?**

The best part of Epic is that it can be integrated in various hospitals. I have rotated to three hospitals so far and all use a type of Epic software for online charting. Each software can be catered to the specific hospital.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

Despite the advamcements in technology and speed of online charting, there are still plenty of pages to fill in (charting is a pain!).

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Epic has definitely helped with time management. If hospital systems remained using paper charting, patients' records would not be updated on a timely basis. This program aids nurses, physicians, and the likes in saving time while also saving trees.

  ### 39. Great for viewing patient records

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ayesha H. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2018

**What do you like best about Epic?**

The tabs are easy to use and can be customized per the user. The program does not lag and saves everything automatically. Epic is really easy for new users to learn and is intuitive. We has many older doctors change from using paper charts to Epic on their computers and they did not have an issue with the change. The tech support from the Epic team was amazing during the transition. They stayed for two weeks to help work out any problems and helped individual users to customize their Epic workspace.

**What do you dislike about Epic?**

It is somewhat difficult to use on a touch screen tablet with the pen. This takes up valuable time, usually hindering one on one time with a patient and may seem impersonal. Although on a normal desktop it is relatively easy to use, the tablet/ipad version seems to need some more work to make the interface more seamless to use.

**Recommendations to others considering Epic:**

It is an amazing program and easier to use than most other EMR systems

**What problems is Epic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is easy to send messages, view the schedule, and patient history at the same time. It is also able to be customized to the professional level of the person using the program. For example interns can use a modified version of epic which limits their access to certain areas which may include confidential information, but they are still able to easily access their tabs. It has also solved the problem of communicating with doctors in different parts of the hospital.

That it tracks everything and that with the proper skillset Epic Clarity/Caboodle Report Writers can report and analyze pretty much everything to improve a Healthcare System, from Revenue to Patient Experience to Clinical Analytics.

Only the price and the requirement to be physically present in Verona, WI to take training in order to get truly certified. Trainings and Exams are excellent, but the burden of EMR price and training requirements are the only drawback.

**Recommendations to others considering Epic:**

Definitely do it if you're a large-ish health care system. It's expensive, but it's definitely worth it, particularly given the direction health care is going in the coming years. In my opinion, healthcare is becoming more integrated with and dependent upon the EMR and EMR data.
