## EndNote Reviews
 ### 1. From cluttered references to an impeccable library with a few clicks: EndNote

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2025

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

Its seamless integration with Word allows me to insert and manage citations very easily; I like its vast database of citation styles that allows each reference to meet the requirements of different formats from APA to Chicago automatically. EndNote is also capable of generating graphs and tables extracted from the database to incorporate into my reports.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

EndNote is actually very efficient, at this point I can't say anything bad; it has an intuitive UI that simplifies my tasks of collecting, organizing and citing references in different styles.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

EndNote changed my dynamics in reviewing documents and managing numerous citations easily; it's ideal for centralizing references in a single database which in turn has optimized my collaboration with other teams to work with updated and structured information.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nabeel S. | Pharmacist & RA Manager, Pharmaceuticals, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2023

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

Ever since, I have used many referencing applications during my research at university. Still, I found the Endnote to be one of the profound applications that has numerous benefits over other conventional apps. It manages the references effectively with the additional capability of the attachment of the PDF docs. It offers the ability to edit the pre-made library or to make a new library at a time. Furthermore, it is helpful to build and effectively manage any kind of project. I would recommend it to writers, scientists, and students to enjoy this resource for effective research project management or development.
In short, I found it very helpful in integration with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Word Processors; mostly, the integration process is easy and automatically added to the secondary software.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

There are no typical downsides for the EndNote; however, I have observed that the manual references implementation according to the various journal demands I some how difficult because of the complex layout.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have employed Endnote for various research projects for references, and project management. This has helped me throughout the process and reinforcing my continued interest.

 ### 4. One of the best reference managers in the market

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos F. | Professor, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 05, 2023

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

It formats the in text citations and references for my papers very well for all the journals that I need without any work on my part. It integrates very well with Word. It has a very easy interface to work with.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

Editing the citations themselves is not very easy since I have to do it manually, it lacks a good user interface when doing it directly inside Word.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It keeps all my references in one place, it allows me to enter them into my articles, and then it formats the papers into the format of whichever journal or conference I send the paper to.

 ### 5. Helping me get my thesis formatted

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emily P. | PHD Student, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2023

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

Endnote lets me not only effectively store and sort my references, but also integrated them into word documents so I can add my references in as I go, along with curating a reference list at the end of the document.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

The online endnote does not allow for group sets. This makes co-ordinating with full endnote difficult.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saving my references details and curating in-text references and reference lists.

 ### 6. Manual Referencing is miserable : Try Endnote

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2020

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

EndNote: as the name indicates "stop noting manually" make yourself go on easier with ready to use tool for referencing and citations. Furthermore, Endnote is merely not bound into only referencing but it also provides us an online account, which saves our projects and enables us to access our work easily from anywhere. Besides, quoting the ready references from Scholar.google.com it is also provided with editing the reference according to the need of a journal/ publisher.
The best peculiarity, which is most fascinated to me is the attachment of certain Paper/article/PDF to the specific reference, so that which is then easily accessible for the desired action.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

As for us, I think Endnote made an impact in the field of research without any hindrances

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

I advise those who still hands-on manual citations. Save your time and get used to "ENDNOTE"

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ENDNOTE for bibliography, referencing, citation for research papers

 ### 7. An Outstanding Referencing Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 13, 2023

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

We already know that Referencing & Bibliography (Such as APA, Vancouver, Chicago & many others) is a challenging matter when demanded from specific platforms of academia, officially, especially when we have to cite without software.
I started using Endnote X5 in 2015 and am now using the EndNote X9 version, which is still working fine. This is citation software that makes referencing easier than quoting a reference manually. The following are the best features I perceived in EndNote (EN).
1- Searching reference: It provides an online library to search the specific reference and place it in a document where it is needed. Additionally, the easiest supported way by Googleschollars to download a reference that EN supports, the downloaded file directly shows up in EN after its execution.
2- Integration with Microsoft Word: Endnote can easily be integrated with MS Word; inside the tool, the add-on of EN performs various actions; such change of reference style option can be availed to change the reference style instantly within the whole document (e.g., APA to Chicago), converting the bibliography to plain text, and this integrated add-on can take us directly to software (EN) if a change is required within the reference.
3- Customized referencing: Certain platforms support their style; EN supports such situations by providing the edit option, new reference, or importing style. Which makes it easier to alter according to the demand.
4- Attaching PDF file: Within the EN, we can attach a PDF (Academic or any document from where the reference has been taken) which is very helpful for taking us directly to the concern instead of browsing and searching the specific work repeatedly.
5- Library backup: Every of our reference lists can be saved in a specific format (EN Library) which can be later imported, shared, and saved.
Furthermore, many more features benefit students, researchers, and scholars.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

Sincerely, I have never experienced any downsides since using this software for a very long time.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used EndNote during my Graduation and Masters for citation of referencing & Biblio. I have also used to publish my academic and research papers. My favorite feature is integrating with MS Word, downloading references from G-scholars, and citing through EN after importing the downloaded file.

 ### 8. Great citation database

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manuel L. | GIS Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 22, 2023

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

It allows our company to keep previous archaeology records organized. Endnote allows us to create custom layouts with key words that are easy to search for. In addition it organizes attach pdfs so they can be viewed within Endnote as well as standalone.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

In order to have multiple editors and read-only viewers, there are two versions of Endnote on our server, causing duplication of data and twice the consumption of memory. It also cannot be edited while someone has it open so it requires a lot of tracking down of users to get it to close.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

On the GIS side, it's a quick reference to build a separate database that allows a geographic component to each record. Endnote creates unique ID folders where PDFs are stored, so linking those in ArcGIS is a breeze since data is not duplicated. For the rest of the staff, they can quickly add references to their word documents thanks to a built-in extension that links Endnote to Word. This saves a lot of time and more importantly misspellings of references

 ### 9. Reference Organization Made Simple

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zachary Z. | Student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 02, 2023

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

EndNote simplifies what can oftentimes be an arduous and tedious process. While certainly it is *possible* to manually organize the dozens upon dozens of references in a single manuscript, EndNote automates the process and saves a world of headache. In particular, reference numbers tend to be altered, flipped, and mixed around when going through the editing and manuscript review process. Instead of painstakingly going through and one by one changing these superscripts and references, EndNote does this entirely automatically. It is challenging to imagine undergoing this process without EndNote. At the end of the day, this software saves users time, allowing them to spend more thought power on what they are writing instead of what they are referencing.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

While EndNote offers numerous benefits, in the beginning the software itself is somewhat challenging to learn. It isn't that the user interface is unclear -- quite the opposite -- it just is not the most intuitive and requires a bit of trial and error before achieving a place of comfort with the software. However, once this level of expertise is achieved, the time save grows exponentially. Users should think of this as an initial time investment -- yes, it will take a bit of extra time in the beginning, perhaps even above and beyond that of simply organizing the references manually, but after several uses, the saved time becomes immeasurable.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As above, EndNote solves the problem of reference organization. It is technically possible to perform this type of organization by hand, but why subject oneself to such an arduous process when there exists a readily available software that is capable of performing these functions at a level nearly unachievable by humans? In short, EndNote solves a problem that every single author has experienced prior to its introduction and ends the nightmare of reference organization once and for all.

 ### 10. EndNote assists in citations providing links of the research papers, articles or case studies.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** marium u. | Human Resources Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2023

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

Automated citations and references adding

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

Its access is limited to paid after some time.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing the addition of unlimited references in any research

 ### 11. Essential tool for scholarly publishing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James H. | Research Chemist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2023

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

The ease of adding and organizing references while I am working on scholarly articles. This is especially valuable during revisions when I have to move text around and add/remove references.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

The tool is incredibly powerful for reference management and provides other capabilities such as tables, figures, etc, but their use isn't as well-explained or intuitive from my experience. Also, the reference templates are not always optimized for government documents, which are important in my work.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Extra time spent organizing and managing references in peer reviewed publications, as well as finding relevant references for my submissions. The abilities provided by this software streamline the process of writing articles and revising for publication.

 ### 12. buggy buggy buggy

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2023

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

While in theory endnote is helpful, execution at least as of the latter updates has been awful. The word plug-in, when working correctly saves a lot of time and generates good in-text citations and reference lists.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

All the bugs since the latter updates. We have had so many issues with references formating incorrectly, getting deleted, and even affecting other aspects of our documents.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organizing and managing references, generating referenced documents - all requirements of our deliverables and EndNote automates it and saves us time on tasks otherwise done by hand.

 ### 13. Great Reference Manager

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luiz Alexandre Viana M. | Postdoctoral Research Scientist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2022

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

I like the capability of Endnote of making available a number of output styles from hundreds of journals. In addition, all the references can be synced among different users or computers.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

I do not like the steps needed to integrate this software with the Microsoft Word. The process is chaotic and there is almost no public/easy accessible information in this regard. It takes a lot of time to go to the website and download supplementary files to be installed. When the process is finished there are crahes. My view is from a Mac user.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Endnote makes the process of inserting and updating output styles among different journal publications very faster and more accurate. We can share a bibliography that can edited by other teammates.

 ### 14. Comprehensive tool to manage your research references

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2022

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

It allows me to organize my references easily, manage duplicates, and update the connections I've already in my library. The add-on in MS Word will enable you to insert your reference (and create the relative references appendix) easily.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

Once you are logged in, the downside of this software is that it continuously syncs your library with their portal, slowing down the user experience. I strongly suggest not moving your library to an external SSD otherwise you will experience lags.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Upgrading to the last versions, I felt they worked very hard on simplifying the search and update process when you work with many references in a document. The user experience is way better than in the past.

 ### 15. So disappointed

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** M W. | Information Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2022

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

Terrible features - been using Endnote for 30 years... worst version ever; wish I could revert to X9 but I've switched all staff over. No bottom view is worst loss; need to do tons more clicking to get screen views needed; terrible layout; I signed up for an account just to put in a review with the huge hope that Endnote will look at this and seriously put out an update to 20 to fix so many of the bad re-design features. Did they consult super users? I don't think so b/c I'm a super user and hate 20.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

almost everything is poorly thought through in this re-design.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

Do not buy (and I've been a happy user of Endnote until now!)

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None -- I am much slower and I used to be an Endnote guru. I know things take time to get used to, but literally, I can't see all my citations in easy scrolling bottom layout view anymore and it's a pain. I can see how the final format will look unless I copy and paste it into Word; I can't see half my screen b/c the layout limits you to three horizontal panels...I could go on and on (and I'm not a complainer; every other version I''m like a duck to water. What happened ENndote? you're usually ahead of the pack with super support. Shoot!!

 ### 16. Excellent tool for referencing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nitin K. | Postdoctoral Researcher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2022

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

I like many things with this tool. The best part is online connectivity that allows you to retrieve references for your need and keep them together in your library. And also another useful thing is sharing the libraries with your colleagues.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

I do not like that you cannot probably save a full pdf of an article like what can be done in Mendeley. Also, Mendeley is free while you have to pay a good amount of money for getting an Endnote subscription

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

I would suggest the users try EndNote if they can afford the pricing of this tool and compare it with any other referencing tool like Mendeley and then decide about using EndNote. There are many excellent features those are worth appreciating EndNote as a referencing tool.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using Endnote for preparing a list of references when I am writing any scientific article. These are the articles that I want to cite when I am reporting my work in the public domain, and I want an organized list of all references together for all my citations where EndNote is useful

 ### 17. EndNote

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Libraries | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2022

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

Quick export to MS Word, duplicates removal, groups/subgroups

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

Glitches when trying to sink with my EndNote Web

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

how to organize, store and cite references

 ### 18. endnote

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tauqeer A. | Founder / CDO / MD, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2021

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

Its easy and less time-consuming software for the writing of reference. You can write the correct reference style within less time without wasting energy and time.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

The thing that annoys you the most is that you can not write more than twenty references at a time. It can be better if you allow more contacts without limit.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

It is the best software for students, teachers, and researchers and is easy to use. It is highly recommended for those who are unaware of this.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have written all my references for my research work from endnote. This software helps people financially through their research work. manny of the people business has been increase.

 ### 19. The most professional bibliography tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** ALEXANDRU I. S. | Student, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2021

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

It is very well developed, and the end result is one of clarity. You get the final list in an easy and well-developed way which helps a lot in the research work

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

It is not very easy to use, especially at the beginning until you get acquainted with it. At the same time, the look is not the smartest

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping records for the articles studied in order to obtain the final bibliography for my articles

 ### 20. A good open access program for writing scientific papers.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thiru G. | Owner of a small biotech company

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2022

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

Easy use and getting references from pubmed for differnt applications.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

Right now I do not write that many papers and so do not want to pay much for the program.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Nothig currently.

 ### 21. Version 8 works well but needs to be updated in the user interface

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jay H. | Senior Data Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 04, 2021

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

the stability of the database and the ease of cutting and pasting apa version 7 references and citations into documents

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

user interface is poor, text based, not intuitive, takes a lot of training to get good at it.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

keeping track of a huge number of references. I have over 13,ooo references in my database so far.

 ### 22. Smart reference manager in 2020

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Muhammad A. | Mr, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2020

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

I like the ease of using Endnote. The best feature is, I can simply copy (CNTRL+C) the reference from endnote library and paste (CNTRL+V) in the word document. When my file is ready, i select the journal style or download it (almost every journal provide template for endnote). And it does the job quickly. Another good thing is that it gives freedom to chose referencing style either in the format (author, year) and/or author (year).

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

I think pricing is a bit high especially for students. As a student I had to compromise on so many things but now I am all good. Maybe, the company should give a limited version for students or offer discounted prices. This is also the reason that students are now using other free tools such as Mandeley.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

I would say to the new users that if you don't find it easy, don't change your mind of using another tool because once you familiarize yourself, it can make your life a lot easier. So, try to see a few videos on youtube (there are a lot of videos on almost everything) and then you gonna love it.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a postdoctoral researcher and have to publish manuscripts in scientific journals. Its unfortunate that the journals these days want authors to do all the jobs including typesetting and referencing (thought I believe it should be done by journals). However, if you have to do that anyway, it's definitely a great tool in the market.

 ### 23. The best existing bibliography manager

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eswar Reddy M. | Doctoral Researcher ➤Project Manager ✦ Protein Expression and Purification ✦ Protein Crystallography, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2020

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

Each newly added feature of the endnote makes a step forward to love the software. Key features I liked.
1. Plugins to access and manage the data
2. Option to search for full text content
3. integrated sync option with web
4. interface

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

No periodic update of journal templates along with the journal upgradation. It keeps the same old database of templates from ages.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

Though a naive user finds difficult by looking the interface and usage instruction. It is very helful reference manager to one should have whoa re very closely working in research area.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My day to day academic research activities, without endnote it will be a messy and very tedious job for me to keep things in place for my research data.

 ### 24. While it took me a number of years to get used to it, I really love this referencing program.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sean B. | Security Manager

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2021

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

The ability to import references directly form a website via the capture reference ability, have it update automatically and input directly into word documents while creating the Bibliography at the same time.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

It can be a little clunky as a program and has a very steep learning curve with it.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to keep all my references in one place and sort them into different folders for different topics.

 ### 25. Great product, compatible with Windows and Mac OS.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Layne C. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2020

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

EndNote offers simple information forms and lets you directly insert references in Microsoft Word documents into text, footnotes and bibliographies. Capacity to access books, web pages, chapters, essays, words, theses, unfinished works, documents.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

It is difficult to search for online publications. Appointment notifications automatically don't work properly. When you insert the quotation in MS Text, this blank field is shown as a punctuation mark when a specific field is not available (for example, when the newspaper article was written in exact terms). The other major problem with EndNote is the restrictions on the customisation of non-standard types.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

Directly download and import the citations when you download the paper. Consider EndNote together with other similar software references. Select the one that is most intuitive to you and better fits the particular type of reference you are using.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

EndNote is an ideal way to keep all your references together. It also is useful for the insertion directly into documents of bibliographies and references by those using of quotes. But the inserted references should also be tested for accuracy and completeness. Since it can be used on several computers and desktop, it extends the versatility at any time.

 ### 26. Endnote

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

I cant use Endnote any more as It seems Sente is the replacement of Endnote

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I cant use endnote It seems Sente is the replacement of Endnote

 ### 27. Easy to use product.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dulcea H. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2020

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

You can quote any format articles, for example. IEEE, APA. Even easy to use, researching will save you a lot of time. You just have to upload the study paper and do the rest of the job. I like its ability, which has many features (sometimes underused), to respond to user needs, which can be used for highly complex bibliographic tasks of information management (such as systematic review).

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

Often the name of the writer, cover, publication date etc. may not be changed by themselves. In this case, it takes a little time since all details must be entered manually. There are many errors in the method to remove duplicates and a lot of accuracy is required with this method when working with thousands of quotations. The plugin named "Capture Endnote Reference," which can be installed in the browser, doesn't effectively record metadata.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

This is your platform, if you are conducting research and want to keep tabs on a number of research papers.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Is used by most academics I know for the potential to solve even the most unexpected problems while managing large quantities of knowledge that I could not obtain with any other program , for example the capacity to build intelligent classes, to categorize various references with numbers or phrases, to look inside the same interface, to export support for almost any data interface? Saving a lot of time and making my research trip uncomfortable. It also helps to keep the eye on different subjects.

 ### 28. Very innovative product.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Edsel K. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2020

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

Citations from many repositories (PubMed, Google Scholar, Web Science etc) can be exported to EndNote; copy format can be linked to a bibliography of EndNote Librarys, desktop to web edition synchronization and vice versa; and PDF files can be imported to appointments. It's special program for the writing and management of appointments and documents. Highly useful for the smart organization of cross registers in a personal library. The library can be saved, exported and opened later at any time as a database.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

Often not all fields are included (e.g. subjects, summary) when citations are imported into EndNote. While importing citations, PDF files are often not available, and before you can link them to quotes, you need to look up the PDF files from other sources. Not open. Not safe. Very little collapse is happening on Mac devices. It works more confidently on Windows. You need a more detailed search feature.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

Learn all the different ways in EndNote to import citations, particularly when looking for databases. Examine instructional videos on how to use EndNote to shorten the learning curve and to make 100% use of all tools

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Publishing and writing consultation. Build a virtual bookstore. Keep essential documents and arrange them. EndNote is perfect for creating quotation libraries where you can add additional quotes and then copy and paste quotes into a text, including abstracts. Also, you can email EndNote as an attachment after saving the library as a.enlx script. I used EndNote X7 in a prior role, which was once again very useful when searching the database for compiling bibliographies.

 ### 29. Great product for managing bibliographic references.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vickie M. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2020

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

The main databases have an integrated link to the Endnote web version. This allows you to easily and efficiently add, edit and organize references and quotes for any kind of document. I love the feature in the travel library as it facilitates teamwork.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

I don't really like anything about this software that is important. Occasionally the library crashes, but the problem is fixed after the software has been opened and closed again. When you connect to my Web-based Endnote account from a library site, you are opening a new web window. When you add more references to the post, you should keep closing windows. Better if the window that opened the previous time could be re-hooked with a reference.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

If you're uncertain whether you want to start this program with EndNote Web, which offers most of the full version free.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This helps me to handle many references effectively in scientific articles. A great benefit of this program is that several people are able to work on the same document simultaneously and that EndNote organizes all references without modifying the document when all components are combined. It was very boring before the preparation of the fusion papers. Save time to build a short list of articles to read and take notes. Most pools are handled easily. For just one chapter, I can also build subsets and then combine them for the final edition.

 ### 30. Must have for researches

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2020

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

Good reference management software, that save all pdfs for file and store them in one folder. Easy to use interface, software does not overload the system.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

It is difficult to export EndNote citations to LaTeX format.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main benefit is that EndNote ensures bibliographic accuracy and update articles. It is essential for my work as new updates can come out that I could have easily missed.

 ### 31. Best software to store the cited references in a organised way

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Devaraj V. | Post doctoral research scholar, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2020

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

User friendly software and compatible with different OS

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

One draw back is that we have sync each time when the references are cited which should have been automated.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

Yes it is best software I would recommend for citing the articles

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using this software to cite the references for my research publications and review articles.

 ### 32. It could be better.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nathalia S. | Graduate Student Intern in the institutional program of dependency care, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

What I like most about Endnote is the ability it has to adapt to the user's needs, it has many functionalities (sometimes underused), but that can be used for tasks of high complexity in handling bibliographic references (such as systematic reviews ).

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

There are several things about Endnote that can improve:

1. The tool to eliminate duplicates can present several errors and when it comes to handling thousands of citations a lot of precision is needed with this tool.

2. The "Capture Endnote Reference" plugin that can be installed in the browser does not capture metadata efficiently.

3. The interface could be more friendly and intuitive.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Endnote is used by most academics that I know due to the ability to solve even the most unexpected problems when handling large amounts of bibliographic information, which I have not been able to achieve with any other software, such as capacity to make smart groups, to classify the different citations through numbers or words, to search within the same interface, to have export support for almost all databases, among many other things.

 ### 33. Saves tremendous amount of time!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samarth Z. | Quality engineer intern, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2019

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

You can cite articles any format you want e.g. IEEE, APA. Also easy to use, it will save much time doing research. All you have to do is upload research paper in the directory and it will do the rest of the work.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

Some times it won't update the name of authors, title, date published etc on its own. In that case, it gets bit time consuming since you have to enter all the details manually.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

If you are doing a research and wanted to keep tabs on number of research papers, this is your go to platform.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saves lots of time and has made my research journey hassle free. Also helps keeping the tabs of various topics you are working on.

 ### 34. Endnote for writing papers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2019

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

It helps keep your references in order as you write and can order them your preferred manner. Allows you to export your reference libraries if you forgot where you saved the library. Inputs reference updates automatically, so all you need is essentially a DOI of a paper and you are done.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

I have not used other software so im not sure what to compare it to but i don't have any dislikes as of now.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

Use videos on youtube to learn how to add and update references. Once you get used to it, it gets easier and then you will use it for every paper.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

EndNote allows you to keep your references organized as you write so you don't have to find them all at the end of the paper. Also, if you change the position of a reference in a paper, it automatically changes the number.

 ### 35. good to use with word on Mac or win

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Chemicals | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2019

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

good integration in MS word, easy to switch styles and to search for references in your database, all the time online access to your database, integration of pdf documents into refernce list. PDF can be saved within programme to the belonging citation. Mostt journals let you download te filed citation file to import in endnote. preview of the Paper/Book in Endnote (included pdf reader)
Possibility to enter books, websites, Paragraphs, Papers, Prasentations, thesis, unpublished work, manuscripts, ...

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

sometimes a bit tricky to use and getting used to it. Searching online for publications within the program is diffucult. automatic update of citation is not working properly

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

Download the citations direct when downloading te paper and import it

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Nice to use, as it can be used on mac and windows and multiple computers. Integration to word works excellent. I can recommend using it.

 ### 36. Review for EndNote X9

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eric B. | Research Librarian, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2019

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

Several things: You can export citations from several databases (PubMed, Google Scholar, Agricola, Web of Science, etc.) into EndNote; you can paste citations from EndNote libraries into a bibliography using Copy Format; you can sync citations from the desktop version to the web version, and vice versa; and you can import PDFs to citations.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

Sometimes when citations are imported into EndNote, not all the fields (e.g., subjects, abstract) are included. PDFs are often not available when importing citations, so you have to search for PDFs in other sources so that they can be added to the citations.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

Learn all the various ways to import citations into EndNote, especially when searching databases. Review instructional videos on how to use EndNote.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I perform literature reviews for researchers at my current job, and I use EndNote X9. EndNote is great for creating libraries of citations, which you can add more citations to then copy and paste the citations, including abstracts, into a document. You can also email an EndNote library as an attachment, once the library is saved as an .enlx file. I used EndNote X7 at a previous position, which again was very useful in compiling bibliographies when conducting database searches.

 ### 37. The best reference manager tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hamid F. | IEEE Student Member, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2019

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

I have used EndNote for more than three years. With thus tool I can easily manage my citations and articles. I can easily import and export citations, make libraries and write my papers. It has more than five thousands styles which covers most of journals styles.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

Sometimes the integration of EndNote with Microsoft office was challenging for me. For example when I wanted to add multiple reference managers in Microsoft Office, EndNote didn't work.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used it for managing my references, classifying my papers and writing review papers.

 ### 38. Endnote

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** luong n. | staff, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2019

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

This is a must have software for academia scientist. It is an unique and specialized software for writing citation and organize records. Extremely useful to make a personal library with it with smart option to cross organize records. The library can be saved and export as a database and can be open later at any time with an Enote. It is supported by major publisher. The ability to directly import and search a record is very useful

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

Not free. The software on Mac performs poorly clashing very often. On Windows, it works more reliable.
Need a better search fulltext function

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

Please fix the clashing issue on Mac users. It is really annoying and frustrated when we loose unsaved docs because of Endnote clashing

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Citation for publication and writing. Creating a personal library. Organize and save important records

 ### 39. Crash crash crash in Mac

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** luong n. | Dr., Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2019

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

A must-have software for academic work to organize library, records, knowledge. It is extremely, yes I meant extremely, needed for academic writing

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

it crashes and crashes and crashes and crashes on Mac, so annoyed. I don't remember how many time submitted to the report to Apple but no improvement has been observed. To be fair, I'm not sure whether it is Apple or Endnote but definitely it is a great drawback.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

This is a great utility needed for writing. Better start using it early. The earlier you use it the more benefit you get.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Academic writing, record keeping, organizing knowledge, creating a personal library- very useful

 ### 40. Useful but clunky

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 12, 2019

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

EndNote is useful for those who use very common referencing styles such as Harvard and MLA. It provides clear forms for input of information and enables you to directly insert in-text references, footnotes and bibliographies into Microsoft Word documents.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

EndNote is, however, quite clunky at times. If a particular field is unavailable (e.g. the exact date of publication of a newspaper article), this blank field will come up as a punctuation mark when you insert the citation into MS Word. The other major problem with EndNote is the limitations upon the customisation of non-standard referencing styles. I use the Australian Guide to Legal Citation, and am unable to program EndNote to provide accurate citations for the AGLC format for chapters from edited volumes.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

Consider EndNote alongside other, similar referencing software. Choose the one that feels most intuitive to you and best suits the particular referencing style that you use.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

EndNote is a great way to keep all of your references together in the one place. It is also handy for inserting bibliographies and references directly into documents for those using common citation methods. However, it is still important to check any inserted references for accuracy and completeness.

 ### 41. Great reference-managing software

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ahmad A. | Physician, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2019

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

EndNote is a useful tool To manage references when working on research project. References can be arranged in easy-to-access list which can be customized and edited anytime.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

Slow performance and lagging at times. This can become obvious when managing a large number of references. The embedded PDF viewing window does not have many features and can crash at times.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The embedded PDF viewing window may crash at times, especially when viewing large size PDF files.

 ### 42. Great easy to use tool, useful dating service!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alejandro E. | Customer Support Professional. , Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2019

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

What I like most about this tool is that appointments and notes can be combined in a single file, you can import PDF files to appointments. Easy integration with Word. The appointment function within Word works very well, even for long documents, and makes the organization of them very simple.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

There is always something that you do not like since nothing is perfect. It works only with pdf files and some files are not easy to locate. Very poor technical support. Sometimes the synchronization does not work, and it is not clear why. When you try to find a solution, you end up poking around the Internet, since the change in customer support by email / messaging is very slow. Some of the useful tools do not feel intuitive. As I know, I can make a backup of my library, but for me it is not clear who has access to that or how to recover it.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

EndNote brings a huge efficiency to the search process, I recommend it with the full security that whatever branch you work in, having this tool will allow you to have an organized job.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None at the moment.

 ### 43. incredible manager references all academic should use.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrea Q. | Lic. Biology, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2016

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

despite having little time using this program, it is excellent to export citations directly from google books. Saves time. I have noticed that they have good publicity, but really could be better. However, it is one of the best known programs and given the amount of people using it, you may find material that complements the network experience

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

could improve the interface a bit to make it a little less sober. When handling many documents, the view gets tired. It would be good to improve the integrated office functions. They are a bit confusing to handle, especially if you have little experience with managers references.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

Slightly improve the interface and create simple tutorials.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The academic papers require good management of references that will generate documents respecting quality and standards. With this work is provided. I have been able to significantly increase my level of organization, besides that I can share appointments with colleagues and make better joint work.

 ### 44. Endnote: A solid graphing tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Unnati R. | PHD Candidate, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

Pretty graphs. I like the layers feature

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

Would have liked more flexibility in bar charts

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Graphs of data for manuscripts

 ### 45. Researchers first choice!!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2019

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

You can read, write and cite simultaneously!!

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

The software is very costly and sometimes (though very few) it is not perfect. Then you have to convert your manuscript into plain text and do the necessary changes. It is always better to check for the references after you finish preparing your library.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

Don't think about the cost, It is indeed very helpful.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is an excellent reference manager and very useful in writing manuscript!! You can download citation from the journal home pages, PubMed and google scholar. You can also insert citation manually.

The fun part is that you have to prepare your library only once and then you can change your style very easily. The software do have some inbuilt styles of most of the popular journals and for others, you can easily download from the internet.

 ### 46. EndNote Is Ridiculously Complicated

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bill R. | Assistant Professor of Nursing, Hospital & Health Care, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2019

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

I like how (on a good day) I can import references quickly and easily.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

EndNote crashes when I try to import a pdf or drag and drop. EndNote's sync does not work and I have to create a whole new library that then gives me conflicts between old and new documents. EndNote's reference libraries need frequent fixing (requiring yet another call to product support). EndNote, despite being set to APA cannot do the simplest of formatting (e.g., capitalizing an article title properly).

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

Think twice.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Can't think of any.

 ### 47. Easy citations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2019

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

For me, it's the best cite-while-you-write tool. It's easy to use, it's compatible with Microsoft word and it has a very friendly user interface

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

It's expensive. There are other options, even free, but EndNote is the best.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

I recommend it over other citation managers

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me to avoid the hustle entering one-by-one citations. It keeps them in order, you can sort them any ear you like and you can share your library with anyone.

 ### 48. Mostly Helpful Software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2019

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

Creating bibliographies with several resources in any format, with no knowledge necessary of how to format

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

Often difficult to find articles that I want to cite, even when searching by doi or PubMed ID

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making appropriate citations for research works. Makes it easier to create citations and then insert them in my own work

 ### 49. Standard software for scientific citations, but limited compatibility.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 11, 2019

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

I mainly use Endnote to collect and format citations when working on scientific papers. It's good at formatting references to conform with a wide variety of journal styles and integrating with Microsoft Word.

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

Endnote is not the best citation management software when it comes to cloud access. I have switched to Google Docs when writing papers, and Endnote is not compatible without constant exports and loading new libraries every time you make a change.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

Be sure to know in advance if you need cloud access. Endnote is not the right software if you do.

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a tool to manage and format citations for scientific paper. Endnote performed well, as long as we did not need cloud access.

 ### 50. Citation software for scientific literature

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** SHRUTI S. | Graduate Research Assistant, Food & Beverages, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2019

**What do you like best about EndNote?**

Helps me compile all references for research prose in a click. I jusy have to sync my files with endnote and update my library. I can choose the style I want for referencing pattern

**What do you dislike about EndNote?**

Works only with pdf files and some files are not easy to locate. There are not many options for referencing style so I feel stuck sometimes.

**Recommendations to others considering EndNote:**

I think that endnote is an amazing citation software and works better than even Mendley which is supposed to be one of the best. I would highly recommend using this software to all the people who work with scientific papers or any othet kind of publications. In fact, it will work equally well with all kinds of publications... I got it for free from my university and have been using it to the fullest!

**What problems is EndNote solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been using it for scientific writing for academic purposes. It can also be used for professional applications and I believe will work wonders there too.
The biggest benefit I have enjoyed is that writing for research publications has been made hassle-free ever since I started using Endnote.
