While in theory endnote is helpful, execution at least as of the latter updates has been awful. All the bugs since the latter updates. We have had so many issues with references formating incorrectly, getting deleted, and even affecting other aspects of our documents. Organizing and managing references, generating referenced documents - all requirements of our deliverables and EndNote automates it and saves us time on tasks otherwise done by hand. Terrible features - been using Endnote for 30 years... worst version ever; wish I could revert to X9 but I've switched all staff over. No bottom view is worst loss; need to do tons more clicking to get screen views needed; terrible layout; I signed up for an account just to put in a review with the huge hope that Endnote will look at this and seriously put out an update to 20 to fix so many of the bad re-design features. I know things take time to get used to, but literally, I can't see all my citations in easy scrolling bottom layout view anymore and it's a pain. I can see how the final format will look unless I copy and paste it into Word; I can't see half my screen b/c the layout limits you to three horizontal panels...I could go on and on (and I'm not a complainer; every other version I''m like a duck to water. I do not like anything about this software. It is horrible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about EndNote? Since the OS update, Sierra, 10.12.6, Endnote crashes when I try to open a reference, read a pdf, or insert a reference into my word file on my Mac. Further, it crashes Word and all work is lost! It's a disaster and they are not updating it. If they expect me to spend more money on this junky software, they are nuts. I can't get any help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. I tried reinstalling and that did not help. They have not updated the software for Mac. I wasted a lot of time and money on this software and it's so frustrating. What do you dislike about EndNote? Learning how to add publications to your library is incredibly frustrating. Had to even know where to begin with the lack of clarity on this or on organizing them once you have them entered. The lack of ability to grab reference information from the web is also telling. Many journals require very specific reference formats. EndNote is supposed to make it easier to manage this but it does not - just adds another level of frustration.
