Scheduling tool: one of the biggest drawbacks for our business is that it isn’t able to fully integrate with EH. payroll set up is very complicated in all aspects from deductions, allowance down to the leave set up for employees. I understand the logic but just too confusing with the toggle off/override on top of what's been set for the leave allowance template. those toggles are confusing. Set up requires so many different things in few different places instead of just one and straight forward eg. location/cost centre. Leave set up is definitely the killer with EH.

setting up new client is also often lead in huge problem due to the Uppercase/lower case of the organisation name, something that should be just so simple and straight forward often leads to waste time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It streamlines paperwork and improves the digital onboarding experience, with automatic notifications that help managers stay on top of their teams. Some functions aren’t very visible. For example, it’s hard to see which emails have been sent to an employee. Also, when we first started our onboarding process, we didn’t feel very supported (although this has since changed). I also found it difficult to tell what was automated in the system versus what still needed to be set up—for instance, with the onboarding process. We were encouraged to “set up our onboarding workflows,” but it turned out that most of the preboarding and onboarding steps were already set up in the system, and I only needed to create a few checklists. Employment Hero is a real time-saver for generating HR and employment-related letters and documents. Sending and receiving everything directly through the system is seamless, which means I don’t have to chase people to sign and send documents back. It really speeds up the whole process. The main downsides for me are the leave balances, which don’t show entitlements and accrued leave separately. Also, when approving leave, a line manager can’t easily see the balances.

Another area that could be improved is the level of permissions available within different sections. For example, I’d like line managers to be able to select the dates for performance reviews for their direct reports, but giving them that permission also allows them to make a lot of changes to the templates, which isn’t ideal. More granular permission levels would be really useful.

Whilst Employment HERO (EH) provides the core functionality, it can be a little confusing to set up for a complex business, particularly when you’re trying to align everything with the chosen platform package (i.e., Premium or Platinum). For example, the permission settings can be tricky to validate, and there’s no “incognito” option to view the system as another user and confirm exactly what they can (and can’t) see based on those settings.

Another area that feels clunky is uploading and sharing policies. You can upload a policy and share it with all employees as mandatory, but if you need to re-issue that same policy to a specific employee so they can read and acknowledge it again, you then have to re-assign it to everyone. Customer Service is average. Yesterday I was on the chat with 2 people who were trying to help me. They were completely unhelpful and the attitude seemed well that's all I can do and it was SLOW. Eventually I asked if I could be escalated. She then mentioned phone support. So after waiting over an hour on the chat I called. Phone call took approx 20mins waiting and then SARAH G sorted my issue in a few minutes. She was awesome. But by this stage I was unbelievably frustrated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

One thing I appreciate about Employment Hero is that it keeps onboarding, payroll, and employee records in one place, so I don't have to switch between multiple systems. I think that EH is incredibly ease to use from an IT perspective with a clean interface that makes say to day tasks simple for both employees and managers. Since implementing the rostering functionality around for months ago, we've experienced zero issues, which is a huge improvement over our previous system.

EH has become our central platform for onboarding, off boarding and compliance, helping streamline our OT processes. The rewards and benefits system is fantastic fro all staff who genuinely enjoy it and we're looking forward to rolling out the payslip functionality in the future.
