I would prefer if I start typing an address it autopopulated on the entry line and I could just hit enter (as opposed to having to use my mouse to click from the drop down list). It is a small thing but over multiple entries every month adds up to a lot of wasted time. It would also be helpful if the entry automatically defaulted to Personal Auto if I click on the "map it" feature so that I don't have to enter it over and over. **What problems is Emburse Expense Professional (formerly Certify Expense) solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is not solving any problems and requires too much labour to complete what should be a simple task. I could complete this by hand faster than using this platform. ### 5. The functionality of creating and submitting expense reports is very straight forward. Approving and processing expense reports takes a bit of training as it is a 2 step process, but when understood, it makes sense. The set up is fairly straight forward and you are given a dedicated "Customer Success Manager" to help along the way. If you have an in-house IT team have them available if you are considering using the Certify API. Our users have expressed that Certify pretty much an intuitive tool to use. For them, uploading receipts and creating reports is much less time consuming than with the previous system we were using. **What do you dislike about Emburse Expense Professional (formerly Certify Expense)?** There is no automated audit trail for user changes in this system. And no audit trail at all for administrative changes. Certify programmers seem to have their own idea of "how" or "in what manner" expense reports should be created, submitted and processed. Their scope is limited however and therefore that limits the functionality of their software. Practically every company has their own "way" of processing expense reports, however Certify (even in their training sessions) instructs their users on "how" to get the job done. Tip..create the software and let the user decide how best they can use it. As an administrator, navigating Certify can be cumbersome and counter intuitive. There are buttons that indicate "Return" when they should indicate "Save". There are too many reports to count. And sifting through them all to find what is useful is a daunting job. There is a "Custom Report Writer", but is it juvenile compared to the ones I have used in the past. **What problems is Emburse Expense Professional (formerly Certify Expense) solving and how is that benefiting you?** Double data entry! Our previous software did not integrate with our ERP Sage Intacct, so once reports were completed in the old system, they had to be manually entered into the accounting system. We use the API for integration; however, we could have used the flat file method as well. Either way, we would no longer continue to do double data entry. We have just recently began using the Emburse and Amazon Business integration. The concept is great in that when purchasing on Amazon Business your receipts will sync into Certify and then automatically merge with a credit card feed line. This makes reconciliation a lot faster. However our first month in, the "connection" broke and our users had to go into Amazon to retrieve their receipts and import them manually. The connection has since been stored, however to date, Certify has no explanation for the loss of connection. ### 6. Each company can tweak their program according to their needs. Cheap compared to competitors. **What do you dislike about Emburse Expense Professional (formerly Certify Expense)?** There is essentially zero support for billing issues. Their Billing team will randomly bill wrong amounts, and you can't get it cleared out even if your contract says otherwise. We have been trying for 5 months to get a billing error cleared and have contacted them many times and explained we are being over charged per our contract. I start over once a month when billing sends an overdue invoice. I have filed a formalized complaint, and this doesn't change anything. It just falls on deaf ears. I guess you get what you pay for. A few times someone gives a canned response that it is being escalated, but then nothing happens and we need to start all over again. We would not have picked Certify based on this experience. **What problems is Emburse Expense Professional (formerly Certify Expense) solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use it for T&E management, including saving receipts and appropriate managerial approval. We did not have a solution before and this fulfilled what we needed. ### 7. It has extensive reporting capabilities. It offers a mobile app - however, the mobile app takes you to an internal browser for expense reports. **What do you dislike about Emburse Expense Professional (formerly Certify Expense)?** Everything in Certify requires 3-4 unnecessary steps. As an admin trying to train users on the platform, expect to do a lot of the heavy lifting (I still assist some users with most steps in the process 4-5 months in). **What problems is Emburse Expense Professional (formerly Certify Expense) solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use it for tracking employee expenses and allocating the expenses to jobs. We haven't been able to take advantage of most of the reporting - just getting compliance and adoption has been too onerous. ### 8. I still have expenses that randomly disappear. Having to upload receipts that take forever (and if the file is too small the quality is hard to read). Submitting a report takes so long because you can’t bulk upload and it doesn’t auto populate the expenses for you. You can capture receipts with your phone camera which is nice. There is an option to have the app “read” the receipt to fill in information like date, vendor, and dollar amount. This function doesn’t work - it comes up with the absolute wrong information - even the date. Weird. So, you have to hand enter all of this info for each receipt. Even saving this hand-entered information, the app changes the dates on your entries. I was about to go nuts continually having to change the dates. You can generate a report from the app, but if the dates won’t “stick” your expense report is useless. Ugh. So, if you like to take pics of receipts, this works, but getting the info captured correctly will require you to use the program on your computer as well, which almost negates the value of the whole program. **Recommendations to others considering Emburse Expense Professional (formerly Certify Expense):** Program works great on computer, but the app needs a lot of work - it’s really buggy. **What problems is Emburse Expense Professional (formerly Certify Expense) solving and how is that benefiting you?** Tool to create expense reports.
