I use Colleague primarily as an IT admin, so if you're looking at what it can DO, definitely look at another review. What I mainly do is grant access, remove it, edit access, change information on accounts. What I like about Colleague is that it is VERY simple to use, but if you don't know the ins and outs of it, you're going to feel like you're facing a beast. It gets the job done. I really dislike that it does take up a lot of PERSONNEL resources. We have a team who create mnemonics, screens, etc., our networking guy makes sure its connector is up so people can log in, and then there's me, who just grants access and stuff. It is A LOT of moving pieces and if someone is out (especially our networking guy) and something goes wrong, it can take almost half a day to get it running up again through Ellucian's support. The feature I like best is that it's relatively easy for our Advancement Services department to transition student records in to alumni records on Banner. I dislike how it isn't user-friendly and seems a bit outdated. I've worked with other programs-- Raiser's Edge-- for database management. The "self-service" Banner we use (as well as most of the gift officers) is much more "user-friendly" than our INB. That being said, I don't think we're always able to extract the information we need and are limited because of Banner's quirks. We integrate Banner with Reeher and it seems as though most staff utilizes Reeher more because it is much more user-friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I love about Colleague is it's user-friendliness. It's graphics are simple, yet appealing, making it easy for any user to appreciate it. The graphics, colors, and fonts are easy to help distinguish different categories of organization, without being overpowering. Additionally, it is incredibly easy to use. It took me just a couple days of training to understand how to best navigate it. I truly believe this software would be a great fit at any office. The downside of Colleague is that at times it can glitch and have errors, making it difficult to understand. At times, the software has glitched while I'm using it, and I have had to ask coworkers for help. It will pop up with boxes at times that are unnecessary, which can be distracting when you are trying to help a client. If there were a way for this to be removed, that would be most beneficial to the ease of use, but it does not hinder the software so much that I do not enjoy using it. It has all the screens necessary for student profile maintenance. On the admissions side, it has the necessary information to look at a student's application information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Each screen has a specific acronym that takes a while to remember, meaning, only daily users end up remembering what acronym you need to get to the right screen. Also, it takes several screens to see the complete information of a student's profile. For example, to see an application completely, I have to look at 5 different screens, each with different subtabs. With the new updated, it has been a little more difficult to navigate each screen since it's now more point and click friendly rather than keyboard navigation friendly.
